We are not expecting but my partner has been insistent on a future baby sharing his first name ([name_u]Tristan[/name_u]), I dislike the thought of “[name_m]Junior[/name_m]”. The only other name he likes is [name_m]Charles[/name_m] nn [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], I’ve loved this name since I was a kid but his surname is similar to Chapman (it’s not [name_m]Chaplin[/name_m] either btw), which my partner doesn’t think is an issue, I do.
Neither one of us is a fan of [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_m]Chaplin[/name_m], in fact we both quite dislike him but we both still love then name [name_u]Charlie[/name_u].
I think naming a boy [name_u]Tristan[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] Chapman nn [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is an option (though apparently my partner will still call him [name_m]Junior[/name_m]) as this way he is still not [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] Chapman on any important documents (job applications, graduations etc.).
Is this still unusable?
Can you think of any other way to use [name_m]Charles[/name_m] with the surname Chapman?
I think it’s fine as a middle. If you will call hi [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], you’ll probably get comments but if you love it go for it.
Some guys don’t want to really delve into names so maybe make a list and bring it to him. Word to the wise, make sure you really like the names before doing so. Haha learned that the hard way.
I have been going over names with him for ages because he’s so impossible with them! I’m trying to convince him of names now because I’m not kidding that settling on a name could take us years! We’re both a bit too head strong to agree on something either one of us is not fond of.
I did think of a double barrelled surname but I’m really not a fan of my own surname and it would also make it a 5 syllable surname which sounds even longer than 5 syllables.
No, definitely [name_m]Charles[/name_m]/[name_u]Charlie[/name_u], it is his grandfathers name and [name_u]Harley[/name_u] has a completely different feel for me than [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. I do appreciate the suggestion but I don’t think there’s any similar names that either of us would like.
