I have a dd named [name]Hazel[/name] and I am expecting a baby boy [name]April[/name] 5th! [name]Charles[/name], with the nn [name]Charlie[/name], is a name I have loved for a long time. I even called [name]Hazel[/name], “[name]Charlie[/name]” when I was pregnant because I was convinced she was a he. Our entire family loves the name too. But I can’t help feeling like it’s a bit boring and I HATE that it’s becoming more popular as a girl’s name.
[name]Hugo[/name] is another name that DH and I love. It’s definitely more original but doesn’t have as much of the affable, friendly vibe that I love with the [name]Charlie[/name]. It might be a bit too pretentious…not sure.
[name]Finn[/name] is another name we keep going back too. I fear it’s too trendy but DH loves it.
What do you all think? We will probably make a game time decision but curious to hear people’s preferences!
I’m biased but I love [name]Charlie[/name]. It sounds so friendly and approachable. I can see it on any kind of guy- the class clown, the nerd, the shy one, the athletic guy, etc.
[name]Charles[/name] is a GIRLS name?? I’m sorry, I actually really love boys names on girls, but that’s a little far for me. Maybe as a middle ([name]Mary[/name] [name]Charles[/name] or something). Anyways, I love [name]Charles[/name] for a BOY. It’s way better than [name]Hugo[/name] (prefer [name]Hugh[/name] to [name]Hugo[/name] and even then, not so much). [name]Finn[/name] is kinda irritating in that it’s a super cool name, but also super trendy. [name]Charles[/name] is win all over, plus you’ve loved it forever so you know this isn’t just a passing whim.
I love [name]Charles[/name]/[name]Charlie[/name] and wouldn’t worry about it being used on girls. If people keep using it on boys then it won’t matter. But if everybody panics and stops using it because “it has gone to the girls”, then the masculinity of [name]Charlie[/name] will be doomed! lol I love it, and it is such a classic name you can’t go wrong with it.
I also love [name]Hugo[/name]. I think it is a great name, and I would love to meet a little [name]Hugo[/name]. I don’t find it pretentious at all. It seems like a fun and spunky name.
I don’t care for [name]Finn[/name] as a stand alone name.
In order of my votes:
[name]Charles[/name]/[name]Charlie[/name] (I don’t think it’s too boring)
[name]Finn[/name] (nice but becoming a bit trendy)
[name]Hugo[/name]
1 [name]Charles[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name] - still a boys names for me and [name]Charlie[/name] is too adorable to resist.
2 [name]Finn[/name] - [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Finn[/name] would be a good pairing
3 [name]Hugo[/name] - I love this name but it would share an initial with [name]Hazel[/name] so it’s No# 3.
Well - [name]Charles[/name]/[name]Charlie[/name] is very cute. I don’t see [name]Charlie[/name] as a girl’s name at all, and I really like the friendly vibe. I adore the name [name]Hugo[/name], although [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name] are a little matchy-matchy and it might be hard to break the H theme for future babies. I really like the name [name]Finn[/name] - it has that same friendly feeling as [name]Charlie[/name] does [name]IMO[/name], and I think it goes very well with [name]Hazel[/name].
