What do you all think of the names [name]Charlie[/name] & [name]Matilda[/name], both for girls. What are your suggestions for similar names or any other names you think I might like. My style is a bit of everything… [name]Answer[/name] my question, leave the link to urs and I will answer!!
I think it’s cute! [name]Charlie[/name] (boy) and [name]Matilda[/name], nn [name]Mattie[/name], are twins on the soap Y&R.
I think [name]Charlie[/name] is fine for a kid, but she might want a more formal name to use professionally when she’s older - [name]CHarlotte[/name], [name]Charlene[/name] etc.
[name]Matilda[/name] is great ( I loved visiting Australia, plus she was an important British queen)
In this vein, you could also consider
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Louisa[/name]
[name]Marguerite[/name]
[name]Georgiana[/name]
I think it would be rather uneven to have one girl with a boys’ name and one with a girls’, not to mention confusing. [name]Charlie[/name] as a nn for [name]Charlotte[/name] is adorable, though I would want to find an equally masculine nn for [name]Matilda[/name] ([name]Matt[/name]?).
[name]Charlie[/name] doesn’t come to me as a boy’s name. I’ve always thought of girly, fun, and cute when [name]Charlie[/name] comes to mind. [name]Charlotte[/name] was a favorite of mine when I was younger, although now not so much. It’s a beautiful name, but not my style. As for [name]Georgiana[/name], I am not a fan, and the same goes for [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Victoria[/name] & [name]Marguerite[/name]. (Although [name]Marguerite[/name] is my great-grandmother’s middle name!)
[name]Charlie[/name] seems short and informal and [name]Matilda[/name] seems older and more formal. (I myself have a [name]Matilda[/name]). I think that you could name them [name]Charlotte[/name] “[name]Charlie[/name]” and [name]Matilda[/name] “[name]Mattie[/name] or [name]Tillie[/name]”. That might be better.
[name]Matilda[/name] is a name associated with empresses, saints and queens (and Australia). [name]Charlie[/name] is a boyish nickname. I think one twin might feel shortchanged and, while you yourself might see [name]Charlie[/name] as feminine, the majority of people your daughter will meet will disagree. Nearly everyone will assume that twins [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Charlie[/name] are b/g.
[name]Do[/name] you strongly dislike the usual feminine forms of [name]Charles[/name]-- [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Carlotta[/name]?
What about:
[name]Charis[/name]
[name]Charity[/name]
[name]Charlize[/name]
[name]Carmen[/name]
[name]Carlene[/name]
I like [name]Charlie[/name] as a nn for [name]Charlotte[/name], but not as a given name on its own for a girl. I know too many boy Charlies (and most just [name]Charlie[/name], not [name]Charles[/name]) to see it as usable to give to a girl. Plus it’s so different from [name]Matilda[/name] I agree with posters who would see the sibset and think [name]Charlie[/name] would be a boy.
[name]Matilda[/name] has the equally masculine nickname of [name]Matt[/name]/[name]Mattie[/name], so I think [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name] and [name]Mattie[/name] would be much more suited as sisters than [name]Charlie[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name]. Or another Ch- name, if you don’t want to use [name]Charlotte[/name].
Other names, going in the vein of girls’ names with boyish nicknames:
[name]Alexandra[/name]
[name]Andrea[/name]
[name]Antonia[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Christina[/name]
[name]Natasha[/name]
[name]Danielle[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name]
I like [name]Matilda[/name]. And [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Charlie[/name] is fine for a girl. I don’t like [name]Charlie[/name] alone for either a boy or girl.
[name]Charlie[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name] are very mismatched as twin girls. [name]Charlie[/name] is masculine and a nickname, whereas [name]Matilda[/name] is long and clearly feminine. I also suggest [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name].
I don’t like [name]Charlie[/name] for a girl. [name]Matilda[/name], I’m fine with, it’s just not one of my favourites.
[name]Matilda[/name] & [name]Arabella[/name]
[name]Charlize[/name] & [name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Calla[/name] & [name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] & [name]Camilla[/name]
[name]Miranda[/name] & [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Veronica[/name] & [name]Matilda[/name]
I love [name]Charlie[/name] … for a boy !
[name]Charlie[/name] is masculine normally. I prefer [name]Charlotte[/name] or [name]Charlize[/name].
[name]Matilda[/name] is a beautiful name
