Hello Berries!
What do you think about the name [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]? (We don’t like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Charlene[/name_f], …). Is it only masculine for you?
Thank you.
Hello Berries!
What do you think about the name [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]? (We don’t like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Charlene[/name_f], …). Is it only masculine for you?
Thank you.
I typically say that nicknames can work on either gender but I really don’t care for [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] on a girl. I do prefer it as a nickname though.
I agree with Casilda, I really don’t like just [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] on a girl.
I like it! It feels to me like a very fresh, stylish option for girls. I definitely wouldn’t say it’s only for boys.
It think it’s perfectly unisex, but I feel that it’s far too informal as a full, legal name.
There’s also [name_f]Charl[/name_f]ène/Charlenne, [name_f]Charline[/name_f], [name_f]Charlize[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotta[/name_f], [name_f]Charlaine[/name_f], Charlottine, [name_f]Charlena[/name_f]; I think it could work as short for [name_f]Carla[/name_f], [name_f]Carlotta[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], [name_f]Charity[/name_f]…
[name_f]Charlee[/name_f] or [name_f]Charleigh[/name_f] is a better spelling for a girl. I think it’s an adorable name for a girl!
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is one of the most approachable and friendliest names around - for a boy. I don’t really care for it on a girl.
If I just heard the name “[name_u]Charlie[/name_u],” I would assume it was a boy. However, I know a couple little girl [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]'s. It’s cute on them! I just see it more of a boys-name-on-a-girl rather than a unisex name.
While not my cup of tea for a girl, I think it’s perfectly fine nowadays for a girl nickname. However, I agree with pp that it’s just too informal for a full name. [name_f]My[/name_f] good friend has a nickname-first name, and she says every time she has to sign a form, renew her professional (or drivers) license, or do anything legal or official, people give her “Excuse me, we need your full name.” She’s actually had legal documents rejected and sent back to her because they assumed she used her nickname.
If it’s still your favorite name, pp mentioned some good [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]/[name_f]Charlene[/name_f] alternatives. I agree that while [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is a stretch, it could work. [name_f]Charisma[/name_f] could be a good one too.
[name_f]Charlize[/name_f] is the only full name that I could like, but we prefer [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. Our daughter will grow up in [name_f]France[/name_f] and they don’t really have nicknames.
Thank you!
I know several girls/women with this as a first name only, they all or creative happy go lucky people many with so much charm I feel dull to be around them!
I think [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] paired with something feminine is the key!
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_f]Larissa[/name_f] (girls name of today)! I am sure your [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] will be a unforgettable name that everyone loves!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] for a girl! (Though you may want to consider a full name for future choices or professional purposes, and call her [name_u]Charlie[/name_u].)
I prefer [name_f]Charlize[/name_f]. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] isn’t my cup of tea for a girl.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Charlaina[/name_f] with the nickname [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]?
[name_f]My[/name_f] nieces name is [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. Not [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] or anything just [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. I think if you like a nick name just name your baby that not the extended name. [name_f]My[/name_f] niece is very girly and it still suits her perfectly. I think it makes a better girls name then a boys.
I know a little girl whose full name is [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], and I think it suits her really well! I personally love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], but I think it works well if you like the name, it’s definitely not too masculine.
And I think the spelling [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is already lovely, you don’t need to try to make it feminine by spelling it [name_f]Charleigh[/name_f] or [name_f]Charlee[/name_f], or [name_u]Charley[/name_u]- then it just looks wrong to me.
Actually, [name_f]France[/name_f] does have nicknames but they’re just not as prevalent as English speaking countries. [name_f]Fanny[/name_f], [name_u]Laurie[/name_u], [name_m]Enzo[/name_m], [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_u]Tony[/name_u], [name_m]Lenny[/name_m], [name_m]Tom[/name_m] and Théo are popular in [name_f]France[/name_f]. If you don’t already know, [name_m]French[/name_m] speakers would pronounce [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] as “shar-lee”.
I personally love [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] on a girl!
I don’t want to change the spelling. [name_f]Charlee[/name_f] and [name_f]Charleigh[/name_f] seem weird for me.
[name_m]Tom[/name_m], [name_m]Enzo[/name_m], Théo, [name_m]Lenny[/name_m], [name_u]Laurie[/name_u], [name_f]Fanny[/name_f] are very popular, yes, and they are totally considered as full names. If I meet a man named [name_m]Tom[/name_m], I know that his name is [name_m]Tom[/name_m] and not [name_m]Thomas[/name_m].
I pronounce [name_f]Shar[/name_f]-lee… because I’m [name_m]French[/name_m]
Thank you [name_u]Mischa[/name_u]!
I love [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]…but for a boy. I have [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m] on my short list. I find [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] very masculine. I have met a few, all boys. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]? They have similar sounds.
