Charlie

I know someone who has a little girl named [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], and she’s adorable.

HOWEVER - that being said, I 100% prefer [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] on a boy.

I went to school with girls named…[name_u]Rikki[/name_u], [name_u]Roni[/name_u], [name_u]Robi[/name_u] and [name_u]Billie[/name_u] (all given names). Seemed to work fine for them

As a first name [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is all boy to me. I’m fine with it as a nickname for a girl.

I like it on a girl!

I only like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] as a nickname. I adore it as a nickname to [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] however on it’s own it doesn’t seem complete.

I think it fine as a full name. I am not sure why Americans think you need such formal first names, the British don’t - vintage nicknames are all the rage.

[name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] although [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] on my birth certificate but never been known as [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I’ve always hated my name and wish I had a more feminine name!

I prefer [name_f]Charlize[/name_f] nn [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] as a legal name just sounds too cutesy to me.

Thank you berries!

I don’t like [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], I’m sorry.

Jakki: [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is vintage? Or preppy?
I’ve never heard that before.

I think it works just fine as a full name it’s a top 100 girls name in Australia (though it’s considerably more popular for boys). I like to think all names can carry someone into adulthood since I’m an [name_f]Ebony[/name_f]. I do love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] but I wouldn’t use [name_u]CHarlie[/name_u] as a nickname for it and I don’t think anyone would get [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] nicknamed [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]

[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is a diminutive of [name_m]Charles[/name_m] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], so it is technically unisex. However, [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]'s still all boy to me. If I saw or heard this name, I would immediately assume the bearer was male. Also, please do your child a favor and put a full name on the birth certificate!

Yes, it is only masculine to me.

Thank you

I know it’s a nickname for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] now but [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] was mainly a nickname for [name_m]Charles[/name_m]. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] for a girl has appeared recently. This is why I’m not sure even if I like it.

I’m not going to force me and give my daughter a name that I dislike or put a different name on the birth certificate. We don’t like any full names.
