Charlotte vs Caroline

Which do you prefer and why? I absolutely love both of these names but can’t decide which one I like more, and would never use both. Any input is greatly appreciated!

Ohh I love both! I think [name]Charlotte[/name] is more popular, but [name]Caroline[/name] is getting close. I like the boyish nn [name]Charlie[/name] for [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]Lottie[/name] is a good nn but it’s not something I’d use. [name]Carol[/name], Car, [name]Cari[/name] (or [name]Carrie[/name]) and [name]Carly[/name] would work for [name]Caroline[/name]. It’s a tough choice but I think I like [name]Caroline[/name] just slightly more.

I like both names, but [name]Charlotte[/name] seems to be everywhere these days. I tend to shrink back from mega-popular names, because I had one growing up. Although [name]Caroline[/name] seems to be really popular as well, I don’t see nearly as much chatter about that name as I do about [name]Charlotte[/name]. I think [name]Caroline[/name] is lovely and feminine, and I even like it better as [name]Carolina[/name]. Either way, it might come down to nn choices if you choose to call her by one. If I were to choose I would go with [name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Carolina[/name].

[name]Charlotte[/name] is beautiful but it’s SO popular right now. I’d go with [name]Caroline[/name]; classic, stylish, sophisticated, and sweet. SWEET [name]CAROLINE[/name]!

Oh I love them both! [name]Charlotte[/name]‘s my go to middle name. I think Id’ choose [name]Caroline[/name] for a first name though. [name]Charlotte[/name]'s really popular, and [name]Caroline[/name]'s so underused.

[name]Charlotte[/name]'s popularity does bother me a little, but I still find myself loving her. In the rankings [name]Charlotte[/name] comes in at 45 and [name]Caroline[/name] at 88. Usually if a name is in the top 100 I immediately take it off my list, but these two keep coming back. In my opinion, [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] are two names that deserve their popularity (although I wish they weren’t quite so popular lol). Thanks for the opinions so far, keep them coming!!

[name]Caroline[/name] (it’s my name).

I love them both, but I think I prefer [name]Caroline[/name] slightly more. [name]Charlotte[/name] is a gorgeous name, but the fact that it’s SO popular right now deters me a little. And in my opinion, [name]Caroline[/name] has more good nns.

I echo everyone else: both wonderful, I’d lean mildly toward [name]Caroline[/name] for a first name, and [name]Charlotte[/name] for a middle (as per my list - there are personal reasons for the combo though : D).

Good luck!

[name]Caroline[/name] has long been my favorite girl’s name - elegant, classic and so pretty!

I love [name]Charlotte[/name], especially with the nickname [name]Lottie[/name]. [name]Caroline[/name] is nice but it just doesn’t do anything for me.

I love both but for the reasons everyone else has mentioned, I’d go with [name]Caroline[/name]. [name]Carolina[/name] is lovely, as well!

I like [name]Caroline[/name] slightly more because it is less popular than [name]Charlotte[/name] - I like the nn [name]Carrie[/name] with it.

I love the full name, [name]Caroline[/name], but I’m not crazy about any of its nicknames … and I feel like this is the sort of name that might be called by a nickname quite often. For this reason, I like [name]Charlotte[/name] a little better - even though it’s more popular. They are both gorgeous names.

I love [name]Caroline[/name], it is so pretty and underused! I don’t like [name]Charlotte[/name] very much but I don’t really know why…

[name]Both[/name] names are pretty but I prefer [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]Caroline[/name] seems a little boring next to [name]Charlotte[/name].

This is based on me being obsessed with not wanting to use overly popular names (top 100)… but here in the south [name]Charlotte[/name] is everywhere and I haven’t heard of any Carolines. For this reason, I would vote [name]Caroline[/name]. Honestly, they are both very similar in feel, style, sound to me… so I’d go with the more unique one!

Right now, I’m kind of torn between the two. I like that [name]Caroline[/name] has more NN options, but I don’t have a favorite combo for it like I do for [name]Charlotte[/name].

Oooh, I love them both! I adore [name]Caroline[/name] because it would honor my grandmother and it’s so timeless and the nns are quite versatile ([name]Cara[/name], [name]Caro[/name], [name]Carrie[/name], [name]Callie[/name], etc.). I adore [name]Charlotte[/name] because it’s a feminine form of [name]Charles[/name], a name my mom always wanted to use but didn’t get a chance to (well, so is [name]Caroline[/name], but [name]Charlotte[/name]'s more closely linked to [name]Charles[/name] and I could use the nn [name]Charlie[/name] if I really wanted to), and I love it’s romantic, timeless, literary feel. I also am a huge fan of -et names and I love the nn [name]Lottie[/name]. I also love how [name]Charlotte[/name] fits with my other favorites–[name]Isabelle[/name], [name]Arianne[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Rachel[/name], [name]Liliana[/name], [name]Violet[/name], etc. It feels softer to me which I love. Since [name]Charlotte[/name] is on my short list and [name]Caroline[/name] isn’t, I guess [name]Charlotte[/name] gets my final vote but I really adore both!
