It’s very popular at the moment - top 10 in the US. [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is probably the biggest association these days.

It’s been pretty popular for a long time, but it’s classic, elegant, pretty and strong, nice meaning and great nn potential

It is a very common name. But, it’s also a lovely name! I’m a big fan of it, personally, though I would expect a little [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] may share her name with classmates.

It’s popular in many countries, but that’s because it’s a classic and international name. No negative association for me. It’s associated with Royalty and literature (author Charlotte Bronte, children book Charlotte’s Web), and the meaning is positive (strength). I think it’s a great name!

Personally, I fell in love with the name because of a childhood friend that moved to another country. She was smart, genuine, nice and pretty.

Charlotte is lovely! It’s pretty popular right now, yes. If there are any bad associations, they’re not prevailing. I’ve never heard of any and lots of people are using the name :woman_shrugging:t2:

I know like 3 charlottes. But it’s pretty popular both in the US and UK

It’s still a great name choice

While [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is common, nicknames always work — either [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] or [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] would make a [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] stick out a little more if she knows other Charlottes and wants to differentiate herself.

As a current high school student (who uses this site to name characters), I only think of [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]’s [name_m]Web[/name_m] when I try to connect it to something. The feeling [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] gives me personally—as in what characteristics a character named [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] would have—is either preppy or artsy but popular and fun either way. I see it as a name for a smart, attractive girl/women who is confident in herself and can have a good laugh.

Also, a thing to think about, if you’re baby ‘girl’ grows up and realizes that she’s trans, it’s easy to switch it to [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]—a name with the same confident spunk as [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. (Some girls will also use [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] as a nickname as well).

Also please no hate for acknowledging trans people. Thanks

I have a love/hate relationship but I like it for others! I think it’s so common that associations don’t matter. <3

It’s pretty common, but definitely for good reason!

I love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]- literary and elegant. It is popular but for a reason

It’s popular, but for a reason - feminine without being frilly, versatile with nickname options to suit a child of any personality, classic but not dated, works well with a lot of middles and surnames

I like it and it’s obvious that it has lots of appeal as it is very popular globally! I’ve never loved it completely despite it being my kind of style but that’s probably because I know lots of Charlottes. I do like nickname [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] though!

Charlotte is lovely, but as others have said, popular. She will likely not be the only [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] in her class. Additionally, it’s the sort of name that people like to stick nicknames to. If you are adamant that you don’t want a [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] or a [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], I would avoid it, but otherwise it’s a lovely choice with a good history.

Charlotte is so pretty! I love it. It is very popular though. I’m not aware of any bad associations.

Agreed that it’s quite common - but so gorgeous and with so many good namesakes both in literature and history! [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_m]Corday[/name_m], for instance. I know that’s a bit obscure, but I really respect her. Also, [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]’s [name_m]Web[/name_m], [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] … even [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] is a fun association, if you like sensible girls.

The problem is of course the popularity. There are a lot of little Charlottes! Perhaps in a few years it’ll fade, but who knows?

It’s very popular! I don’t personally care for the sound, but most people seem to enjoy it, so I’m probably the odd one out!
