[name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_u]Laine[/name_u], I voted other. I do not necessarily think it is silly, it’s just not my style. I do think that [name_u]Emery[/name_u] is a nice name. If you like [name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] then go for it, I mean, most people do not go around being called their first and middle name together.
The names are ok but the combo is too much like memory lane.
Memory [name_u]Lane[/name_u]. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t go there.
I didn’t even see the ‘memory lane’ thing - they sounded perfectly fine as a combination to me.
I just think they’re both awful names.
I just don’t like it. I really dislike the name [name_u]Emery[/name_u]. [name_u]Lane[/name_u] is great in the middle. I would choose a different first name like:
[name_f]Addie[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u]
I like both of these names a lot! My problem is that it is a little too unisex. [name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] or [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] maybe?! :).
I also got memory lane from that. Not a fan.
[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t go there.
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] - Memory [name_u]Lane[/name_u]. It feels like a joke, and I don’t think anyone wants their name to be a joke. You even asked if it was memorable. Memorable, yes, but not in a good way.
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] - Reminds me of emery boards, like nail files. It is unisex but sounds masculine to me.
[name_u]Laine[/name_u] - It looks like the E is missing from [name_f]Elaine[/name_f]. I would just use [name_u]Lane[/name_u]. Also unisex, which isn’t bad, but when both names are unisex, the gender can be ambivalent, which isn’t something that everybody likes. As a girl with a masculine nickname, I can tell you it isn’t always nice.
I would take some of the syllables in these names and move them around or switch out some letters so you have a name that doesn’t sound like a pun.
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f]
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
I really really like [name_u]Everly[/name_u] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] as substitutes for [name_u]Emery[/name_u], and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Mae[/name_f] in place of [name_u]Laine[/name_u]. [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] can also sound so pretty, as with [name_f]Emma[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f]. Good luck!
I didn’t get the memory lane thing, but seeing other people’s responses I do think that might be a concern. I still voted that I like it though
I think [name_u]Laine[/name_u] is a great middle name, maybe substitute [name_u]Emery[/name_u] for something else? I know a little girl named [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]. That may avoid the “memory lane” association. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought
Wasn’t a fan of the name before as [name_u]Emery[/name_u] reminds me of [name_u]Emory[/name_u] (ie [name_u]Emory[/name_u] board aka nail file) and [name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] sounded like a street.
But that Memory [name_u]Lane[/name_u] connection made it even more over the top.
I really like [name_u]Emery[/name_u]! I didn’t get the memory lane thing but maybe [name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] or [name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] might help you avoid that connection
Great names! But not together, memory lane jumped to my head so quick I had to re-read the name to make sure I wasn’t making something up!
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] is a great substitute but not with [name_u]Laine[/name_u] due to the repetitious ‘l’ sound. I do love [name_u]Laine[/name_u] so hopefully you find a combination with it that you love!
I really appreciate the suggestions…especially because I’m due in less than a week! We started off loving [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], but have ruled it out as it could be a burden for a little girl. I love [name_f]Elliana[/name_f], but my husband is neutral. He really likes [name_u]Emery[/name_u] and I like it, although I don’t love the idea of her becoming [name_f]Emi[/name_f]. Still looking for a middle name if we go with that. But really we are open to anything at this point, so keep the suggestions coming!
I have a horrible association with the name [name_u]Emery[/name_u] because of [name_m]Stephen[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m]'s [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_u]Red[/name_u]. Most people probably don’t have that association.
That aside, the memory lane thing didn’t even click for me til sometime else said it.
I don’t think its silly, though, and honestly i like [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] (for the nn [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Laine[/name_u], like the song) which to me is much sillier.
Most people probably won’t know the middle so to them it’ll just be [name_u]Emery[/name_u].
Hey, I have to disagree. [name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] is actually great. Something just happens to “click”, I don’t think you could do much better.
I like both names separately but together they sound like a bad pun.
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]?
I think it’s cute. Most people wouldn’t know her middle name anyways, so why not have fun with it.
