Help! I really need your thoughts on this! [name]Chelsea[/name] has been the only name my husband and I can semi agree on. [name]Do[/name] you think it is too dated? And do you have any MN suggestions?
I feel it a little dated but i have a HORRIBLE association with someone with this name. I think its pretty but feels kinda 1900’s to me.
[name]Hi[/name]! I have to admit that [name]Chelsea[/name] does feel very dated to me (1980s/1990s), along the lines of [name]Ashley[/name] and [name]Brittany[/name].

[name]Chelsea[/name] does seem dated to me, although it is still rather pretty. I think [name]Phoebe[/name] has the same sort of feel as [name]Chelsea[/name] but more modern.
You’re right, [name]Phoebe[/name] does have the same feel.
I understand why people think it’s dated but I don’t know anyone named [name]Chelsea[/name] so I don’t really have that feeling. Other than [name]Chelsea[/name] [name]Clinton[/name], anyway. Plus it fits right in with the place name trend right now, and is leaps better than [name]Brooklyn[/name] imo. This is one name where I’m not sure of the line between dated and classic. I guess [name]Chelsea[/name] may fall more towards dated but I think it has some of the qualities of classic too. Maybe just because it wasn’t as popular when it was popular if you know what I mean? It’s not like there’s a lot of moms named [name]Chelsea[/name] right now so it’s not quite as dated as, say [name]Jennifer[/name] to me.
I think [name]Chelsea[/name] sounds a bit dated but it’s also still pretty and not overused now, which is an advantage. It has the potential to sound more dated in ten years’ time, but then, plenty of the current takes on this sort of name will sound dated in a generation anyway, so feel free to do what you feel most comfortable with. Keep looking to see if there’s a name that you and your husband can agree on which you both really like, but failing that, [name]Chelsea[/name]'s not a bad name. Good luck!
I don’t like [name]Chelsea[/name] at all, sorry. Around where I live it is really popular with girls about 10-20. And there are many “yoonik” spellings too, which makes it worse. Whenever I think of this name, I think it sounds kind of trashy, sort of along the lines of [name]Brittany[/name], [name]Melanie[/name], [name]Kylie[/name], etc. etc.
I use to love [name]Chelsea[/name]. But yes, now to me it feels very dated. I did name one of my daughters’ [name]Kelsey[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] - I don’t know I felt it was more classic than [name]Chelsea[/name] (still do!), and she wears it so, so well, spunky yet sweet =0) So an alternative that you could look into if you are not set on using [name]Chelsea[/name], would be [name]Kelsey[/name].
[name]Chelsea[/name] is viewed as a particularly lower class type name in my area of [name]Scotland[/name]…although I imagine this to be entirely a regional anomaly.
I absolutely love the name [name]Chelsea[/name] and would love to even consider that name but for me its all about where I live. Growing up right outside of [name]Boston[/name] there is a city [name]Chelsea[/name] and it is not the best place to live. Very dirty and full of crime. Because of the negative connotation it would be very unlikely for me to use it. If I lived anywhere else that would be a top choice of mine…
On a side note I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Everett[/name] and that is the city outside of [name]Boston[/name] I lived in but for obvios reasons that would be silly for me to name a child that.
Good luck!!!
It may seem dated, but I actually know very few girls named [name]Chelsea[/name]. Its a name that everyone is familiar with, but its really a lot less popular than you think. I have always loved [name]Chelsea[/name], and I encourage you to use it if you really love it. Its like [name]Lindsey[/name], a name that everyone knows and everyone thinks is super popular, but in reality its a lot less popular because people think its popular, therefore they don’t use it, making it less popular. If that makes any sense…

Huh, I never knew that! My name is [name]Chelsea[/name] and I’m 15 years old. I live in [name]Ontario[/name], [name]Canada[/name] and it seems to be quite popular. In my high school of 400 there’s about 6 [name]Chelsea[/name]'s all of the same spelling except for one Chalsie. I’m of mostly [name]German[/name], English and English Canadian decent!
You could try a different spelling variation of it? I live in Ottawa and here it’s really popular (it’s also my name as well). For us it’s generally known as an area about 45 mins. away in [name]Quebec[/name] known for cottaging and hiking the mountains. It’s really interesting how areas really influence name choice.
