Thoughts on [name_f]Cheryl[/name_f]?
It gives me red-vibes, kind of like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] do.
Could it come back?
I actually think it sounds nice and most Cheryls would be 60+ now, so it might just be cool enough?
Does anyone know anything about its etymology? Does it really just come from chérie and [name_f]Beryl[/name_f] or is there more to it? Seems kind of random that someone would just combine these two.
[name_f]Cheryl[/name_f] does have a warm pretty feel - a little bit stylish, a little bit clunky. It gives me red vibes too - shiny red apples, red heels, red nail varnish, red roses etc.
I will say that I do think of [name_f]Cheryl[/name_f] [name_m]Cole[/name_m] when I hear it

I think [name_f]Cheryl[/name_f] definitely will comeback, but I don’t think that will be for another 30 years or so. That doesn’t mean you can’t use it though! It would be a very unexpected choice right now, but that may be what you are looking for! She can also go by [name_f]Cher[/name_f], which is cool!

I like [name_f]Cheryl[/name_f], and I of course associate it with my well-loved aunt by the same name who is very sweet and kind so that’s how I view the name.
I believe it could make a comeback as mentioned but just might take some time or even a media (like tv show or movie) influence to give it some oomph.

I honestly think it’s still a little dated at this point but who knows. I also have bad associations with this name so…I might be biased.
