Child's suggestion for sibling names.... add your own?

Mine is funny… Funnier than I could take 3 days post section…

Child aged 6 suggests, innocently, “Kamalwanka”.

Erm, maybe not! I swear I nearly tipped my takeaway curry over; I was gripping my poor stitches for dear life I laughed so hard. My mum and stepfather were present also, it’s me who found it super hilarious though (juvenile sense of humour I guess!).

This was nearly 11 years ago now.

Anyone else had humorous or inappropriate name suggestions?

My brother (aged 2) wanted to name me [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. After the cartoon duck.

Aw, that’s quite cute! And wouldn’t have been unusual in [name_f]England[/name_f], where we lived at the time. I was named from a mis-hearing of a song.

Is your name [name_f]Wanda[/name_f] btw? There is a post with someone considering the name for a baby now.

No, [name_f]Wanda[/name_f] is just my internet alias. It was my father’s (ironic) suggestion for my name because it would have made a pun with our lastname. My actual name is very 60s.

Yeah, it sounds like it would not have been well suited for you!

An acquaintance of a friends son wanted to name his baby brother “pirate ship” I guess he was pretty adamant about it, I think they actually ended up using ‘corsaire’ the french word for pirate as a middle name. Which I think is pretty cool.

My sister, who is four years older than me, wanted to name me Fart.

Lol, must’ve been a bit jealous!

Some family friends, years back, wanted to let their 2 older girls help choose baby’s name… but 'twas the [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] season, and the older sisters were adamant it should be [name_f]Mary[/name_f] if a girl, and [name_m]Jesus[/name_m] if a boy!
Luckily it was a girl

My younger sister (7 at the time) wanted to name her new baby brother and sister Gargamel [name_m]Ichabod[/name_m] and Asparagus. Thankfully neither stuck.

My mother miscarried in between those babies and [name_f]Sister[/name_f] dubbed it [name_m]Morpheus[/name_m] after watching The Matrix.

Quite sophisticated if not ideal names!

Fart haha!

The pirate connection does make a cool middle indeed.

My daughter has a different name for our baby every day…she’s 4.

The other day it was Wish [name_m]Grant[/name_m].

Sometimes they are normal names from shows she likes, [name_m]Connor[/name_m] (from PJ Masks), [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] (characters from a [name_f]Barbie[/name_f] movie)…

There have been others but I’ve forgotten them! Note to self, write them down!

Pregnant with twins and work with kids, so I get interesting suggestions from them all the time. My personal favorites came from a 5 year old who suggested [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] Lamb & [name_u]Gary[/name_u] Gator lol!
My niece is 2 and insists on calling them [name_f]Bebe[/name_f] & Momo everytime we talk about them.

…I don’t think I’ll be taking any of these names into consideration haha.

Well I had some really good ones from [name_f]Vali[/name_f]… From the ones I can remember: potato & chip, nutella, bicycle… I think there was another one which was something like doggy woof & doggy wow. My kid is not as creative lol.

My nieces (think they were about 4 at the time) wanted their parents to call their younger sister Tinkerbell. Now they call her Stinkabell

[name_m]Ad[/name_m]èle wants a baby sister [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], which is her favourite book. One of our favourite girl names is [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f], so she’s on the right track.

When we’ve asked Léo he said Caillou. Which is [name_m]French[/name_m] and we definitely go for [name_m]French[/name_m] names. But I hate that show, so can never hear the name without seeing his face. His second choice was Velociraptor
