Christa, Krista, or Kristen?

So, I’m trying to narrow down my shortlist, and I’m torn between [name_f]Christa[/name_f], [name_f]Krista[/name_f] and [name_f]Kristen[/name_f]. I’d like to only keep one, but can’t decide which to cut out.

[name_f]Christa[/name_f] - To me, [name_f]Christa[/name_f] seems classic because this spelling is closest to [name_f]Christina[/name_f], but it also feels slightly livelier than [name_f]Christina[/name_f]. [name_f]Christa[/name_f] last ranked in the top 1000 back in 2004, and it was the only one of the three to not place in the top 100, which makes me think it might get mistaken for [name_f]Krista[/name_f] anyway. I plan on nicknaming all of the options to [name_f]Chrissy[/name_f]/[name_f]Krissy[/name_f], but I do prefer the [name_f]Chrissy[/name_f] spelling, which I can only get from [name_f]Christa[/name_f]. However, I do hesitate because normally I dislike nicknames that are longer than the actual first.

[name_f]Krista[/name_f] - More familiar than [name_f]Christa[/name_f], less common than [name_f]Kristen[/name_f], [name_f]Krista[/name_f] feels the least dated imo. It appeared in the top 100 in 1986, but stayed within the top 200 from 1970-1995. It fell out of favour in 2008. [name_f]Krista[/name_f] certainly feels more lively than [name_f]Kristen[/name_f], but something holds me back from it. Would likely call her [name_f]Krissy[/name_f], but again, I dislike nicknames that are longer than the first name typically.

[name_f]Kristen[/name_f] - Probably the most familiar of the group, I adore the name [name_f]Kristen[/name_f]. It’s the name of a dear friend of mine, and the first name S/O suggested when we discussed names for the first time. The last of my favourites to fall out of favour - leaving the SSA top 1000 in 2015, and staying in the top 100 from 1969-1997. Also probably most likely to have been in the graduating class of anything pre-2005 - is [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] /too/ dated? (I know I like [name_f]Heather[/name_f] and [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], but [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] and [name_f]Heather[/name_f], to me, share similarities with [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] - current top 100 favourites).

Which name do you prefer, [name_f]Christa[/name_f], [name_f]Krista[/name_f] or [name_f]Kristen[/name_f]? Combos would likely be [name_f]Christa[/name_f]/[name_f]Krista[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] and [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].

Thanks!

[name_f]Christa[/name_f] is probably my favorite however I love [name_f]Chrissy[/name_f] on its own!

I like [name_f]Christa[/name_f]! It feels more complete looking and I love the cheery/happy vibe from the spelling, even though they are all feminine names I get a more ‘I AM A GIRL; HEAR ME [name_m]ROAR[/name_m]’ vibe from [name_f]Christa[/name_f]. I love the combo [name_f]Christa[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]…I would love it even more if it were [name_f]Christa[/name_f] [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f].

Of these three, I think my favorite is [name_f]Kristen[/name_f]. [name_f]Christa[/name_f] and [name_f]Krista[/name_f] feel more dated than [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] to me. [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] feels more classic.

If you’re open to suggestions, my favorites in this family of names are [name_f]Kiersten[/name_f] and [name_f]Christiana[/name_f]. I love the nickname [name_f]Chrissy[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Krista[/name_f] best.
It feels crisp and neat without being as dated as [name_f]Kristen[/name_f].

[name_f]Christa[/name_f] is ok, but to me it looks incomplete. Like someone was cut off half what through writing [name_f]Christina[/name_f] or similar and just ended up with a typo. I also don’t like how prominent the word [name_m]Christ[/name_m] is in the name. [name_f]Krista[/name_f] has the same sound but looks like a complete name.

[name_f]Kristen[/name_f] is ok, but I just don’t love how it sounds. I prefer [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] to [name_f]Kristen[/name_f].

I do agree that [name_f]Chrissy[/name_f] looks nicer than [name_f]Krissy[/name_f], which is a shame. But I think that [name_f]Krista[/name_f] is the nicest full name.

I think I like [name_f]Krista[/name_f] best! [name_f]Christa[/name_f] is nice but it looks like a nn for [name_f]Christina[/name_f] and [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] is okay, but I think [name_f]Krista[/name_f] has more energy. [name_f]Krissy[/name_f] is cute

[name_f]Kristen[/name_f] is my favourite by far!

[name_f]Krista[/name_f] looks the prettiest to me

I personally like [name_f]Krista[/name_f] - mostly because of the character from Zombieland and it’s simplicity.

But if you love [name_f]Kristen[/name_f], I say go for it. There’s this level of gently dated names that I feel is really underrated. Yeah, she will share her name with older people, but it’ll be not super common among her peers. And [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] is a classic, delicate, nice sounding name.

I love the love for [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] on this thread! Though I have to plug the spelling [name_f]Kristin[/name_f] - it’s my name, and it’s the original Norwegian spelling. [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] is the male version of the name in Norway and I just don’t think it looks as elegant, though obviously I’m biased. But I’m so thrilled to hear that people think my name is classic! My biggest complaint about it is definitely that it dates me as an '80s baby.

I personally have always had a crush on [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f]. I know that’s not on your list, but that’s what I would use! Otherwise, I guess I like [name_f]Krista[/name_f]?

I would do [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] if i were you.

Hmm, I do like just [name_f]Chrissy[/name_f] on its own, [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f] and [name_f]Kiersten[/name_f]. I have ruled out [name_f]Christina[/name_f] though because I loathe the “[name_f]Tina[/name_f]” nickname. It’s not pleasant for me and I’ve never met one I liked lol.

@textrovert - Haha, I love [name_f]Kristin[/name_f]/[name_f]Kristen[/name_f], and it’s S/O’s favourite for a future daughter (I’m totally cool with having daughters named [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] and [name_f]Kristen[/name_f], they sound so sweet together), but I’m more inclined to use the [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] spelling because it’s my best friend’s name :stuck_out_tongue: I do like [name_f]Kristin[/name_f], it just feels less instinctive to me!

I’m a little surprised [name_f]Krista[/name_f]'s getting so much love!

Thanks everyone

[name_f]Kristen[/name_f] is definitely my favorite! It looks the nicest to me, and reminds me of [name_f]Maren[/name_f]- familiar but unexpected, with the pretty -en ending. And I love that it’s your best friend’s name. [name_f]Kiersten[/name_f] is also beautiful!

[name_f]Crystal[/name_f] came to mind as a suggestion, but does it feel more dated to you than [name_f]Kristen[/name_f]?

I find [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] dated, very 80s, and prefer [name_f]Krista[/name_f] over [name_f]Christa[/name_f]. [name_f]Christa[/name_f] will definitely get misspelled as [name_f]Krista[/name_f] by people under 30. However, [name_f]Krista[/name_f]/[name_f]Christa[/name_f] will get mistaken for every [name_u]Chris[/name_u]- name in the book and there are a surprising number of people who don’t consider [name_f]Krista[/name_f]/[name_f]Christa[/name_f] to be a full name. It’s a beautiful name though and I’d love to meet a little [name_f]Krista[/name_f]!

I think [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] definitely fits your style best, going on those names listed in your signature. It has that same ‘old-school’ 70’s/80’s feel to it that you seem to enjoy.

I like [name_f]Christa[/name_f] best because the teacher [name_f]Christa[/name_f] McAuliffe is a strong role model and it connects to the timeless [name_f]Christina[/name_f].

My favorite name is [name_f]Kristen[/name_f]! [name_f]Krista[/name_f]/[name_f]Christa[/name_f] feel incomplete for me. [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is nice, but [name_f]Kristen[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] would be pretty too.

I love [name_f]Krista[/name_f] as that is my first name:) I love my name because I don’t hear it that often and have only met a handful of [name_f]Krista[/name_f]’s in my lifetime. In addition, I was named after [name_f]Christa[/name_f] McAuliffe. My dad wanted to spell it [name_f]Christa[/name_f] but my mother prevailed and thus my name was spelled [name_f]Krista[/name_f], which I am grateful for because I do not like the spelling [name_f]Christa[/name_f] at all.

[name_f]Kristen[/name_f] has never been a favorite of mine, I suppose I just don’t like the sound of it.
