Christian...for a girl?

I have a son named [name]Christian[/name] so this definitely isn’t for anything real life but I’m just wondering what everybody thinks. I recently learned that [name]Christian[/name] was actually a girls’ name in the middle ages and at first it disgusted me but now I think it’s actually kind of cute. What do you think?

I’ve met a woman named [name]Christian[/name]. It fit her well.

I would go with [name]Christianne[/name] first.

The only [name]Christian[/name] I’ve ever met was a girl. I like it for both genders.

My mother actually just recently told me my father’s girl choices when she was pregnant with me were [name]Christian[/name] or [name]Ashley[/name]. I was very relieved my mother stepped in to talk some sense into him.

Wasn’t [name]Christine[/name]/[name]Christina[/name] a feminine version of [name]Christian[/name]?

I’ve known a female [name]Christian[/name] before as well. (As well as dozens of [name]Christina[/name], [name]Kristina[/name], [name]Christiana[/name], [name]Christine[/name], etc.)
Honestly, it’s such a religious name that it feel unisex to me. It’s like you’re making more of a religious point than a gender point.

Of all the names that people have asked “Can I use this for a girl?” this is one of the ones that is the least shocking or weird to me. Sure my first thought if I heard the name would probably be that it belonged to a boy, but I can’t imagine commenting on it if it was a girl the way I have for names like [name]Hunter[/name], [name]Griffin[/name], or [name]Micah[/name] (all of which I’ve met on girls)

In the middle ages it was quite common with more boyish names on girls. [name]Julian[/name] for example. I don’t think [name]Christian[/name] works on a girl though.

I work with a lady named [name]Christen[/name]. While I think it’s pretty it throws me every time still.

I think this is one of the very few names that actually works wonderfully on both genders. [name]Both[/name] males and females can be Christians so I think the name works on both genders. That being said I do prefer it for a boy.

I’ve only known male Christians, so for me it would be an odd choice. I wouldn’t be disgusted or whatever, but I would be surprised.

Eh. I prefer it for a boy. I’ve heard of it on girls, but I think [name]Christianne[/name] or [name]Christine[/name] are the prettier names for girls.

I prefer [name]Christine[/name] or [name]Christina[/name] much better. I don’t know if it’s as wearable on both genders.

This is one that I actually think is truly unisex. I think I first heard it on a girl as the name of an actress, but it is also masculine enough on a boy. I think it works really well for both!!

I am a little biased against [name]Christian[/name] because my name is [name]Kristen[/name] and it gets mispronounced all the time as [name]Christian[/name], usually by old people. My best friend’s mother has called me that since I was 16.

However I do think it’s nice for a girl. I have known one female [name]Christian[/name].

I wouldn’t mind it. As you pointed out, it’s been unisex since the Middle Ages.

The only [name]Christian[/name] (f) I’ve heard of is the Twilight actress who plays [name]Angela[/name]. I really like it on a girl. The book Pilgrim’s Progress has [name]Christian[/name] as the male main character and his wife [name]Christiana[/name].

My name is [name]Christian[/name] and I didn’t like it as well as a child but never hated it and now I live it. Id rather my name be [name]Christian[/name] than [name]Ashley[/name] [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Brittany[/name] and so on I dislike popular names. I’m 24 and have only met 2 female Christians in my entire life!!

Never liked it on a girl

No, I hate the idea!

I do like [name]Christiana[/name] though which seems so pretty and feminine.

[name]Love[/name] your babies names by the way
