Christopher and Oona?

Hello!

I would love opinions on the following:

We have a son named [name]Christopher[/name], 2, and for a girl, I am in love with the name [name]Oona[/name] (and I have been since I was a little girl). But do you think these two names go together? I have always believed girls names should be more unique and special, and boys names kept more classic…

My husband is still not sold on the name [name]Oona[/name] - but I am trying to convince him because I love it so!

Thanks,
D

I don’t think they go together, but they aren’t ugly together or anything, and not everyone has to match their sibling names (my siblings and I don’t all have similar styled names). [name]Just[/name] a bit unexpected. I really like both [name]Christopher[/name] and [name]Oona[/name], even if they are very different styles. Maybe use a more classic, traditional middle name? Something like [name]Oona[/name] [name]Katherine[/name] or [name]Oona[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] might help connect the two a little.

I like [name]Oona[/name] because of the [name]Charlie[/name] [name]Chaplin[/name] connection (his wife or gf, I forget the specifics), and it has a 1920’s art deco appeal. When I hear [name]Christopher[/name], I think ‘[name]Robin[/name]’ (which happens to be my name, and I’m not overly fond of it).

I think they’re a little mismatched but that wouldn’t stop me from using them.

Use it! Pair it with a more traditional middle name like [name]Elizabeth[/name] or [name]Katherine[/name] and I think it’ll be fine.

I have loved the name [name]Una[/name]/[name]Oona[/name] since I was little! I heard it in a movie and thought it was just so special and different. The meaning as sweet, too. I wish I could use it, but I have a cousin named [name]Uma[/name] - it’s too close.

I don’t think it matters. You should just go for it!

I think they they go well together! Tho it maybe would be best if you chose a more traditional middle name as others have suggested  I really love those names and I think you should go with [name]Oona[/name]!

Thanks! I agree - I would need to go with a more classic middle name. Thanks again!

When I first read [name]Oona[/name] I assumed your son picked it after the Bubble Guppy with that name. Lol. That said I would use the name if you totally love it and use a traditional middle name as everyone else has already suggested. Lol

I don’t really think that [name]Oona[/name] and [name]Christopher[/name] go very well together (although they are both beautiful separately) because they have such different feels to them. [name]Christopher[/name] sounds traditional and common to me while [name]Oona[/name] sounds out-there and very modern

While they certainly don’t ‘go together,’ if your love for [name]Oona[/name] overrides your uncomfortable feelings of how they sound together, then use it. If not, maybe put [name]Oona[/name] in a middle name spot?
