Chucky

So…
I have three kids. The middle is a boy named [name]Charles[/name] after his father. They have different middle names, my son’s is [name]Jacob[/name]. When we named him, I imgained he would go by his middle name. But, somehow, we began calling him [name]Chucky[/name]. My husband went by this as a child and eventually transitioned to [name]Charles[/name], and now, as an adult, goes by [name]Chuck[/name].(and he always hated the nn [name]Charlie[/name])
Now, the name suits my son and he likes it, but he is 7 years old and I know we just can’t call him this forever. [name]Chucky[/name] just isnt a long term nick name.

I have never been “hip” with names. I can’t imagine calling him anything else, but how long can he get away with being called [name]Chucky[/name]?

Until he announces what he’d like to be called

It may be tomorrow, it may not be until he’s eighteen (it may be never - it seems less common on boys, but I know some fully-grown women who go by seemingly childish nicknames, and it does seem strange when you actually know an adult with that name [example - [name]Kitty[/name]'s who never transitioned to [name]Kate[/name]]), but when he wants a change, go along with it. I think [name]Charles[/name] [name]Jacob[/name] is a great name, by the way.
