Chyler?

[name]Just[/name] wondering what everyone thinks about the name Chyler for a little girl? I would pronounce it [name]KY[/name]-LER. I know it doesn’t really go with my sib-set, but I want something different.

I prefer [name]Kyler[/name] spelled like that. Chyler seems a bit confusing for pronounciation but I like it.

It looks too similar to Chrysler for me.

I know a girl named [name]Cuyler[/name], spelled that way. I like it and think it makes it look a tad more “feminine.”

I’d prefer [name]Schuyler[/name], because at least there won’t be as many spelling/pron problems.

I’d just go with the spelling [name]Kyla[/name], if I were you. But that’s kind of a downmarket name where I live, so…probably not that, either. :frowning:

I love it actually, it is definitely a GP for me. I have loved it ever since I saw it Chyler [name]Leigh[/name] from [name]Grey[/name]'s Anatomy

I don’t like it, I say “chi-ler”, if you wanted [name]Ky[/name]-ler, then just spell it [name]Kyler[/name]. Either way it’s too modern-trendee in a bad way for my liking.

I loved it on Chyler [name]Leigh[/name] ever since I saw her, I think it’s cute. Since that’s the only way I had ever seen it, my son is Khyler. Most people think we’re saying [name]Tyler[/name] though.

For the love of all that’s Holy, do not name your poor kid Chyler. 1. She would forever be called Chy (rhymes with eye) ler instead of [name]Kyler[/name]. 2. [name]Kyler[/name] is a BOYS NAME 3.It’s trendy and made up.

Good God.

Chyler/[name]Kyler[/name] are nms, but I have to say I always hear “[name]Chi[/name]-ler” in my head when I read that name, so if your heart is set on it, I would suggest [name]Kyler[/name].

You say you are looking for something different than [name]Rebecca[/name] and [name]Elijah[/name] this time around. Is there specific criteria or a specific style you’re looking for?

  1. It IS pronounced Cy (rhymes with eye) ler. That’s how you pronounce the name. 2. [name]Kyler[/name] is NOT solely a boys name. I know girl [name]Cuyler[/name]'s. 3. It’s actually not made up. It’s Dutch for “bowman, archer”.

Therefore, “Good God,” check your info before making extremely derogatory comments like that.

The spelling [name]Kyler[/name] is preferable because some may pronounce Chyler as Chy-ler or Shy-ler. I don’t like [name]Kyler[/name] on a girl. I don’t like it much for a boy either (I think it sounds kind of cutesy). I prefer [name]Kyla[/name] on a girl. As you say, it doesn’t really go with your sibset.

I don’t care for it. I see [name]Kyler[/name] as a boy’s name, and spelling it Chyler doesn’t make it more feminine in my eyes. I’ll echo the Chrysler comment for another poster. What about [name]Kaia[/name]? It has a similar sound and would fit better with your sibset while still giving you a different style.

I have only ever heard this name on boys, but oddly it doesn’t sound overly masculine to me. I do think you might get a lot of Chai pronunciations with that spelling, like the tea. I echo the pp who suggested something like [name]Kaia[/name] as a more obviously female/obvious pronunciation choice.

I, too, have only heard the name used for boys, but it’s always spelled [name]Kyler[/name]. I agree with what others have said, I would pronounce Chyler like Shy-ler. I guess it’s just nms.

What type of names are you looking for? Can you give an example of others that you if you want to mix up your style for your next child? I will say that I really like your kids’ names that are in your signature.

I like all kinds of names, really. Classic, trendy, whatever. I don’t think I have a name style; if a name catches my fancy and I really like it, I don’t care what the “style” is. In fact, when I was expecting my daughter, I didn’t care for [name]Rebecca[/name] at all, but I knew if the baby was a boy, I was dead set for [name]Elijah[/name]. When we found out we were having a girl, my ex insisted on picking her name and I felt that that was fair, so we went with [name]Rebecca[/name] (nn [name]Becca[/name]). And [name]Elijah[/name] is a name I’ve loved since I was a nerdy, [name]Lord[/name] of the Rings obsessed teenager.

Hmm… I’m torn on this one. If I didn’t know of the actress Chyler [name]Leigh[/name] from [name]Grey[/name]'s Anatomy, I probably wouldn’t like Chyler very much because it does sound a bit trendy. But Chyler [name]Leigh[/name] is so cute and the name just seems to fit her. The name Chyler makes me think of a spunky little girl with a big personality. And yeah, the pronunciation might become an issue, but pronunciation is an issues for a lot of names, so I wouldn’t let that stop you

There are not many people who will see Chyler and think [name]Kyler[/name]. Most people will see “ch” and pronounce it like the “ch” in chair or couch.

Personally, I would feel pretty cheated if I were a girl named Chyler and my siblings were named Rebecca and Elijah.

I agree, I like the name for a girl but spelled [name]Kyler[/name]

Thats my name:lol:
