Ciara?

Hello!

Another pronunciation question… [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce [name_f]Ciara[/name_f]? I read on thinkbabynames that it is pronounced in the US with a “soft c”, so like see-ahr-uh. Is that an acceptable pronunciation? Or is there another name closer to the see-ahr-uh sound?

Thank you for any opinions.

I believe the Irish pronunciation of this name is similar to [name_f]Kiera[/name_f], so that is how I would pronounce it at first glance. I might use [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] for the sound you are seeking.

I’d probably pronounce it like keer-uh, maybe key-ahr-ruh?

It’s an Irish name, and the correct pronunciation is the same as [name_f]Keira[/name_f].

However I would possibly pronounce it see-ar-ruh. I’ve heard in [name_u]America[/name_u] it is pronounced the way you have said.

Apart from the Irish pn, I wouldn’t consider pronouncing it with a hard c sound, unless it was spelt with a K.

Technically [name_m]Keer[/name_m]-ah is correct, but I find see-are-ah is also widely accepted!

Regardless, it’s beautiful.

I would say key-ah-rah.
