[name]Tess[/name] goes best with [name]Sloane[/name]. I don’t think [name]Tess[/name] Kepler runs together. Good [name]Luck[/name]!
[name]Tess[/name] [name]Marion[/name] would be a better “fit” with [name]Sloane[/name] [name]Elinor[/name]. [name]Tess[/name] Kepler sounds fine. I love [name]Claire[/name] but [name]Claire[/name] Kepler is a bit a tongue twister.
[name]Tess[/name] is a great fit with [name]Sloane[/name], in my mind. [name]Claire[/name] Kepler comes out as [name]Claire[/name] Klepler when I try to say it.
Yes there might be names, that are more in the same style, but I agree with you, these two names aren’t weird with [name]Sloane[/name] and since you love them, I’d always put that first.
I think both names are nice, [name]Tess[/name] is a little more spunky (more like [name]Sloane[/name]) and also goes better with the surname.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Tess[/name], good choices!
I like [name]Tess[/name] best. If your worried, what about [name]Tessa[/name]?
[name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Tess[/name]! 100% [name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Tess[/name]!
[name]Both[/name] strike me as perfectly frills-free. [name]Tess[/name] always reminds me of a character in an old [name]Katharine[/name] Hepburn movie and I’ve got to say, that’s the exact image I get from both these names, smart, simple, and striking.
Thanks, everyone… I appreciate the feedback and the votes. 2 more things to throw in there that complicate our naming slightly: 1) my name rhymes with [name]Tess[/name]. It’s actually [name]Jessica[/name]/[name]Jessie[/name], but family members call me [name]Jess[/name]. Trying to figure out if that’s a deal-breaker. And 2) Middle name [name]Barbara[/name] (which I think goes better with [name]Claire[/name] than [name]Tess[/name]) is after my [name]MIL[/name] and would be nice to use, but isn’t necessary. But [name]Marion[/name] (middle name choice for [name]Tess[/name]) is also a family name, after my great-grandmother, and I do like the name itself more.
So with that said, does that sway anyone toward [name]Claire[/name]? Or is [name]Tess[/name] still way better with [name]Sloane[/name]?
Thanks for the help!
I actually like [name]Claire[/name] better with [name]Sloane[/name], but [name]Tess[/name] is one of my fav names, so I voted for it. It’s certainly not bad with [name]Sloane[/name]. I like [name]Tess[/name] [name]Marion[/name] better, but I think [name]Tess[/name] [name]Barbara[/name] works fine too, if you really want to use it. It’s just in the middle, so use what you want!
I like [name]Tess[/name] [name]Barbara[/name] better than [name]Tess[/name] [name]Marion[/name]. And as much as I love [name]Claire[/name] I do like [name]Tess[/name] Kepler better.
Now about the rhyming thing. I am struggling with the same issue - my name is [name]Jennifer[/name] and having a son [name]Benjamin[/name] nn [name]Ben[/name]. Most people call me [name]Jennifer[/name] but some (mostly people that dont know me well and my more immediate family) do say [name]Jen[/name]. I am thinking it ok if you mostly go by [name]Jessica[/name]/[name]Jessie[/name] but I am still not sure if I can get over it for myself. I do know brothers called [name]Jack/name and [name]Zack/name which is I think is too much. Curious to see what over berries think. Good [name]Luck[/name]!
I really like [name]Tess[/name] or even [name]Tessa[/name] with [name]Sloane[/name]. [name]Tessa[/name] [name]Marion[/name] sounds better than [name]Tess[/name] [name]Marion[/name], in my opinion. [name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Tess/name sound perfect together.
Does anyone else have thoughts on the whole rhyming issue? (My name is [name]Jessie[/name], and I’m sometimes called [name]Jess[/name] by family members… obviously rhymes with [name]Tess[/name].) I’m not as concerned about the [name]Jess[/name]/[name]Tess[/name] rhyme as whether my daughter will eventually be nicknamed [name]Tessie[/name] (which we wouldn’t really choose to call her, but I know nicknames sometimes crop up on their own). [name]Jessie[/name]/[name]Tessie[/name] is too much, I think. Should I avoid the name [name]Tess[/name] for that reason, or just hope to avoid the nickname [name]Tessie[/name]?
Thanks!
I like [name]Claire[/name] better though [name]Tess[/name] is pretty as a nn not as a name alone but I donno if you would want a longer version or what it could be.
I have known a couple of [name]Tess[/name]/[name]Tessa[/name]'s and neither were ever called [name]Tessie[/name] by anyone. [name]Tessa[/name] was sometimes called [name]Tess[/name] for short. I don’t think I’d stress about it.
In a vacuum, I prefer [name]Tess[/name] [name]Marion[/name], but I like [name]Claire[/name] more for [name]Sloane[/name]'s sister. I would avoid names that rhyme with other family member’s names, so that’s another strike against [name]Tess[/name].
We named my daughter [name]Katharine[/name] with the intention of using the nickname [name]Kate[/name]. My husband is a [name]Nathan[/name] who is always [name]Nate[/name]. I didn’t let the [name]Nate[/name]/[name]Kate[/name] sway me away from the name I wanted. At home, [name]Nate[/name] is Daddy anyways. Phone calls are the only area where I could see a problem down the line. And I’ll assume the teeny boppers want my daughter =)
My daughter [name]Clare[/name] does run into problems when my FIL visits. He is [name]Larry[/name] but is affectionately called Lar by my mom and my dh. [name]Clare[/name] and Lar are way close and something that hadn’t crossed my mind.
[name]Tess[/name] and [name]Claire[/name] are two awesome names and two of my favorites. I vote for [name]Tess[/name] b/c of your surname.
I voted for [name]Claire[/name] [name]Barbara[/name]. I’m not liking [name]Sloane[/name] and [name]Tess[/name] together, and I feel like [name]Tess[/name] is incomplete. Since [name]Claire[/name]/[name]Clare[/name] has a history as a male name, I feel that it fits better with [name]Sloane[/name]'s unisex vibe.
I know a [name]Tess[/name] (she’s technically [name]Tessa[/name]) who is never called [name]Tessie[/name]–I don’t think it’s a natural go-to nickname for [name]Tess[/name]. I think [name]Jessie[/name] and [name]Tess[/name] are fine in the same family, and as a pp pointed out, you’ll probably be called Mom most of the time by the people in your household. I think [name]Tess[/name] goes much better with [name]Sloane[/name] and your last name.
Oh and my hubby loves to put the “ie” on all names. But when we’ve talked about using [name]Tess[/name] (as a nn for [name]Theresa[/name]) he says there is no way he’d go to [name]Tessie[/name].
I’m voting for [name]Tess[/name] as well. Great combo!
