So I love the name [name]Claire[/name], its classic, strong, great meaning, but I generally tend to like more unique, surname, unisex names. I stumbled across [name]Clairen[/name]! Never heard of it before (which I love), but when I went to search for it, nothing comes up. I think it is a great alternative to make [name]Claire[/name] stand out, and give it that individualized feeling, but do you think eventually she would just become [name]Claire[/name]? Does anyone know anything about the history to this name? What are your thoughts?
Clairen is very nice! I like it, though I’ve never hear of it before either. And, then again, no one has ever heard of my name before. But I do think [name]Claire[/name] would just become a nn.
It is basically a morph of [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Clarence[/name], which mean bright or illustrious. It’s a cute name and it has a good meaning, and stands a little apart from popular [name]Claire[/name].
I think some people may, eventually, call a girl [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Clare[/name] if this was her name, but I feel like nicknames are unavoidable for most people, unless it is corrected every single time. I even got a nickname for my nickname!
The only thing I could find was that it’s a surname.
I think [name]Clare[/name] has more of a surname/unisex vibe to it than [name]Claire[/name].
Clairen just looks like [name]Claire[/name] with an “n” tacked on the end because it’s a popular ending (I’m looking at you [name]Jayden[/name], [name]Aiden[/name] and [name]Braden[/name]). It looks like a modern invention so I doubt it’s a name with any history. It may be a contemporary form of [name]Claire[/name], [name]Clarence[/name], [name]Maclaren[/name] or the makeup brand Clarins.
I prefer [name]Clarion[/name], which has a similar sound.
I feel the same way as [name]Mischa[/name]. It comes across as trendy, but insubstantial variation of [name]Claire[/name], though I could be wrong, and it might possibly have history and meaning that I am not aware of.
Thanks everyone, I still really like it, and the way it sounds. Im kind of upset it seems to be “made-up”. I would like to use an actual name for the child’s sake. I’ll keep looking into it!
- Cheers!
Well there is Clareen ( Cláirín )
an Irish village.
I like the nickname option of [name]Ren[/name]/[name]Rin[/name].
Or what about [name]Clarice[/name]? Closer to [name]Clarence[/name] but with a bit more interest.
I’ve got to disagree with the berry chorus.
I think Clairen looks distinctive and sophisticated!
[name]Even[/name] if it is an invention (?), it’s a fine one. I don’t have a problem with invented names, just ones that look trynndeigh.
So good to hear this! Its still in the top 5 for me, its just so unique, I love it. Thanks!
It makes me think of bleach, or toothpaste, or allergy meds. Sorry.
I want to like it but it reminds me of Clarins skincare line.
I think of a skincare or contact lens product. I really don’t like it. I love [name]Clara[/name], though! [name]Claire[/name] is overused, though.
As for your nickname concern, though, no - if you and your child don’t want Clairen shortened to [name]Claire[/name], it won’t be. You will NOT have to correct people every time. I’m a [name]Victoria[/name], and avoiding [name]Vicki[/name]/[name]Tori[/name] has not been an issue at all.
