Ok so I’ve posted a few times about baby girl number two’s name.
Our first is [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I’m almost sure about naming this baby girl [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] but my only concern at all is the ‘Ara’ in both names. I guess I’m mostly looking for reassurance that this isn’t an issue or if you really think it is, I guess I want to know. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is a family name.
I want to note how we pronounce the names in Australia because it’s different to how they’re commonly pronounced in the US I believe (particularly Clara).
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]- [name_u]Ara[/name_u] like A in apple- ra. (Not [name_f]Air[/name_f] or Ahr if that makes sense)
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]- the Clar sounds like car.
I think this makes the names sound more distinct and the repeating [name_u]Ara[/name_u] less of an issue. Thoughts?
I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] but that’s the only thing not making me 110% sure. I know I could always change my mind at this point, I still have 15 weeks to go but I keep coming back to this name.
I think with the way Arabella’s pronounced, it should be fine. I personally love [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] with [name_f]Clara[/name_f], and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is so pretty!
When I’m saying the names it’s becoming a bit of a tongue twister for “Arabella and Clara”. If I understood what your saying about the sound, they should be said like the “ar” in car. And when I think about how others might pronounce this my first thought would be to say them as “air”, and the two names are still hard to tell apart when I say the two together, as if it sounds like one big word. I’m Australian and I absolutely think it’s fine to use [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] together. The different pronunciations of the ‘ara’ parts distinguishes them more than enough in my opinion. They’re perfect together!
It’s probably my bad description but the [name_u]Ara[/name_u] in [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] are different- [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is like how you said but [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] isn’t [name_u]Ara[/name_u] like Car-a. It’s [name_u]Ara[/name_u] like Arab. I’m not sure if that translates with our different prononciations but thanks for your perspective
I feel like [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] + [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is less problematic than [name_f]Clara[/name_f] + [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], it’s fine imo!
I think it’s a very minor issue, and with your pronunciations even a non-issue. It sounds like it’s absolutely the name for you–your little one will be so lucky to receive a name her parent adores so much!
It definitely isn’t an issue in my opinion ! I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is perfect and it matches so well with [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]!
