Clara or Astrid?

I’m not expecting a family for a very long time, but I have three girls names that I would really love to use. I’m almost certainly using [name_f]Margo[/name_f] for my firstborn daughter, but I don’t know what I would choose for a second girl. [name_f]My[/name_f] significant other prefers [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] but I’m absolutely in love with [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. It reminds me of seeing the nutcracker ballet with my grandmother. I’m pretty sure it’s been on my list since before I even had a list! And it doesn’t seem to matter to me that it’s gotten more popular than [name_f]Astrid[/name_f].

Which sibset do you prefer for two girls?

[name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
or
[name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]

I prefer [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. I used to be quite fond of the name [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], but it’s shine has lessened for me whereas [name_f]Clara[/name_f]’s has grown. The fact that you’ve loved it for so long and all the potential drawbacks don’t bother you really solidifies in my mind that you should use [name_f]Clara[/name_f] in the future if you ever have two daughters. For what its worth, although [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] do work together, I’d still say yes to [name_f]Clara[/name_f] even if I didn’t think they sounded great together. Although it’s adorable to having cohesive sibsets, in my opinion, the individual names are 100% the most important. [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t want to end up with name regret!

Thank you! That’s actually really helpful!

It’s tough because I think both are gorgeous names but I prefer one over the other but think the other suits [name_f]Margot[/name_f] more. To me, [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] are perfect sister names - they’re both elegant vintage picks - but I love [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] more than I do [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. It just has a quirkiness and a spark to it that appeals to me. And even though I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is perfect with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] I can absolutely see siblings named [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]… But for you, based on what you’ve said about [name_f]Clara[/name_f], I think that’s the right name for you as a sibling for [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

I really do love both, but [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] have a bit more pep and feistiness as a set to me. I really love them together!

Margo always feels like [name_f]Margot[/name_f]’s spunkier, less buttoned-up sister to me, so that’s why I love it with the strong, quirky [name_f]Astrid[/name_f].

Clara is calm and chic, and feels more like the vibe I get from the gentler [name_u]French[/name_u] spelling of [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

But both work wonderfully!

I think [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] work better as siblings, but I prefer [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] as a name.

Ahhh this is hard. They both work. I’m inclined to say [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] because I don’t like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] as much. But they both work great.

With this spelling of [name_f]Margo[/name_f], I think it’s far spunkier than [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] fits that perfectly!

Margo and [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] for me! [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] feels more special, unique, and unexpected than [name_f]Clara[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] over [name_f]Clara[/name_f], but [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] sound better.

Oh, [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] definitely. They are of a piece.

Now if you said [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] or [name_f]Elke[/name_f] and something, I’d say [name_f]Astrid[/name_f].
