I am expecting a baby girl in thirteen weeks but can’t decide between [name_f]Clara[/name_f] (pronounced [name_u]Clair[/name_u]-ah) or [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I really like how both names are sweet and simple. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is my great grandmother’s name, and I would name her [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. I’ve always loved [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], but I am afraid she will spend her life correcting people on the spelling and pronounciation. Whenever I bring up the name to family or friends, people always ask me if I mean [name_f]Mavis[/name_f], which I dislike. If I went with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], we would name her [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. What do you think? It’s such a big responsibility to choose a name!
I don’t like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] because of the repeated “air” sound, but [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is precious! [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is also gorgeous, and while you might have some problems with pronunciation, she would have plenty of nickname options, from [name_f]Mae[/name_f]/[name_f]May[/name_f] to all the ones from [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I don’t think it would be much of an issue, though? I do personally prefer [name_f]Clara[/name_f], but go with your heart. And congratulations!
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is just gorgeous! And the connection to your grandmother makes it a little more especial, imo. I’d go with that!
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are both excellent choices! Totally torn between these two choices. ([name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is a bit repetitive so I prefer [name_u]June[/name_u] in the middle here.)
I suppose the family name has a slight edge, but if it helps any, I know two [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]'s (one 5-ish and one 30-something), and neither has trouble with their name. Is [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] (or [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]) an option?
Definitely [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]. It’s so pretty and cute.
I prefer [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I think it’s a beautiful name! [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is sweet too, but I’m personally not a fan of the [name_u]Clair[/name_u]- pronunciation, so I had to go with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]!
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is my pick. So pretty!
I prefer [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. It’s more Fpeminine
I feel like I should vote for [name_f]Clara[/name_f], because of the family ties, but I like the simple [name_f]Claire[/name_f] much more, and I’m really loving [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] here! I think [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is a sweet nn, but I love even more the adorable Maevey, and I think [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a gorgeous, strong, timeless name! I also prefer the CLAH-rah pronunciation for [name_f]Clara[/name_f], even though I am from the US, where it is generally said [name_f]CLAIRE[/name_f]-ah.
Good luck!
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is gorgeous!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]!
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is very classy, but [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is so pretty! I prefer [name_f]Clara[/name_f] personally.
I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] sounds lovely and I really like the family connection. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is nice too and I don’t think she’ll have too much of a problem since neither [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] nor [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] are very popular (at least where I am). Either way I’d go with [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] and maybe save [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] for a second baby when you’re more certain of the name. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] is absolutely delightful!
Both names are beautiful, but [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is my favourite. I hear you on the [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] thing though- to me they are very different names and I certainly don’t think of [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] when I hear [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], but my husband does. He says he wouldn’t be comfortable using [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], as it just makes him think of [name_f]Mavis[/name_f]. I’m really disappointed by this, as I really thought [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] would be The Name for a girl if we have one. But if a number of people kind of group it with [name_f]Mavis[/name_f], that puts me off it a wee bit too.
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] are both lovely names. I slightly prefer [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u].
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are both names I love. I wouldn’t worry about spelling it. I think it’s becoming a more mainstream name and poor spellers misspell a lot of names.
I love both, but would go with the family connection. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is pretty!
clara june is great! they know how to spell maeve here in the uk, but if you don’t like mavis I would avoid it.
