Clara questions

  • [name]Do[/name] you like the name?

  • [name]How[/name] do you feel about the alliteration of [name]Clara[/name] K***ler? [name]Both[/name] two syllables with the stress on the first syllable. Too cheesy/cutesy sounding?

  • [name]How[/name] popular do you think it will get? It was at 166 in 2011 and was in the 300s a decade earlier. Definitely increasing each year. I think I see it breaking the top 100, but I’m not sure if it has top 20 or 30 potential. What do you think?

[name]Clara[/name] has been a favorite of mine since I was young. I think it is lovely and fresher than [name]Claire[/name], which I also love. I can see it breaking into the top 100 for sure. I hope it doesn’t become top 20. I don’t think it will, but you never know. I like the alliteration of [name]Clara[/name] K***ler. If you love the name [name]Clara[/name], I wouldn’t let that stop you.

I think [name]Clara[/name] is really nice. It has a nice vintage classic feel to it. I think it would be fine with your last name. I agree that it will most likely crack the top 100, but will get nowhere near top 20. It will probably be right at the 100 mark.

I love it. It would be alliterative with my last name and that doesn’t deter me one bit. If I had a little girl any time in the near future, I’d be agonizing over whether I love [name]Clara[/name] or [name]Rosalind[/name]/[name]Rosalie[/name] more. I do think there’s a good chance it will become more popular, but it’s been such a relatively slow rise that I don’t see it passing the top 50 at all. [name]Claire[/name] is just in the top 50, so I don’t know if that will decrease or increase the likelihood that [name]Clara[/name] will get there too. I’m inclined to say decrease, but you never know. Overall, it’s such a lovely name. I also love [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Tessa[/name] from your list, though I do think [name]Lucy[/name] could break into the top 50 soon.

I love it and I actually like the alliteration.

It’s such an old classic that I can’t imagine it leaping to far in popularity. It’s just not trendy enough.

It’s not the alliteration that bothers me so much as the rhyme. [name]Clara[/name] (Keller) is just too rhymey to me, though it could be in part because I have an accent where -er and -a endings are pretty much said the same. I don’t think it will reach top 20 by any means though.

With the new [name]Doctor[/name] Who companion, I do foresee [name]Clara[/name] (at least in [name]England[/name]) becoming a lot more popular, much the same as did [name]Amelia[/name].

[name]Clara[/name] is lovely, and I think the alliteration is pleasing-sounding.

I love the name [name]Clara[/name]! It is on my list. [name]Clara[/name] is very classic and beautiful. Easy to say and spell. Clar K***ler is not a problem in my opinion. It is a little popular, but I don’t think it’ll ever get out of control popular. I always think of [name]Clara[/name] from The Nutcracker, charming!

[name]Clara[/name]'s one of our top contenders if we have another girl. I love the alliteration of [name]Clara[/name] K-ler. I don’t think it will get too much more popular.

Thanks for the feedback. I think the alliteration would be fine, especially seeing that many seem to agree - I guess it’s the future popularity that concerns me more.

I know some people will use a name regardless of popularity if they love it, but for me, the popularity issue turns me off to the name. If [name]Clara[/name] continues to climb and goes into the top 50 or 20, I’m assuming I wouldn’t start disliking it because my daughter will have it, but I would be a bit bummed.

I love [name]Clara[/name], and would have used it until my niece was named [name]Clare[/name]. I don’t think the alliteration is problematic. It is a beautiful name.

I’m biased, but I absolutely adore [name]Clara[/name]! I’ve always preferred [name]Clara[/name] to [name]Claire[/name] to be honest. It’s classic and vintage but still familiar because of [name]Claire[/name].

I’m usually not a fan of alliteration because it does have the tendency to be a little cheesy or superhero like, but I think in this case it works.

I agree with @authorinwriting completely. [name]Amelia[/name] did become more popular (even though the character went by [name]Amy[/name]) and I could easily see the same thing happening for [name]Clara[/name]. But I don’t think it’ll break the top 20 or even 30. [name]Clara[/name] might break the top 100 one day, but I think most parents will choose [name]Claire[/name] before [name]Clara[/name].

I love alliteration, so thumbs up on the first name-surname combo.

As for popularity, I don’t ever see it getting past the #50 mark. I don’t think your little [name]Clara[/name] would ever have to worry about being [name]Clara[/name] K.

BEAUTIFUL NAME. [name]Love[/name] it.

[name]Clara[/name] is beautiful!
