Clara the cow?

[name]Hi[/name],

I posted awhile ago about a name for our third daughter, who is now only 7 weeks away! We currently have two daughters:

[name]Grace[/name] [name]Louise[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Anne[/name]

I was trying to avoid names that began with ‘G’ or ‘C’, because my sister and I were [name]Julie[/name] and [name]Janelle[/name] only 18 months apart, and it sometimes caused confusion.

But I really love the name [name]Clara[/name]. It feels vintage but pretty, and I think goes well with the middle name I like ([name]Mae[/name]).

[name]Do[/name] you think [name]Clara[/name] [name]Mae[/name] would go with the above names?

And what about the cow thing? Ages ago I told a friend I liked the name, and straight away she said it was a cow’s name. Should I be concerned about that?

Thanks heaps,

[name]Julie[/name]

I have a similar love for the name [name]Cora[/name] [name]Mae[/name]! [name]Clara[/name] is a pretty, classic name, and [name]Mae[/name] is sweet and vintage. I think it’s slightly different from your other daughters’ names in terms of popularity, but it matches the style. I wouldn’t worry about the cow association.

I love [name]Clara[/name] and I certainly don’t think of cows when I hear it. [name]Clara[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is beautiful and sounds great with [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name]

I think of [name]Clara[/name] as a cows name but I know it’s a berry favorite. With the right mn it would be nice but [name]Clara[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is way too hick for me, like you’re working at giving it a country feeling.

I don’t think [name]Clara[/name] sounds like a cow at all. I think 50-100 years ago there was a cow named [name]Clarabelle[/name] on an advert or something like that, but I don’t think that’s a big deal. It’s the top name on my girls list. I’ve met several [name]Clara[/name]'s while abroad and that totally negates any “country” feel to me.

I suppose I’ve never a met a cow named [name]Clara[/name]… for me the immediate association is “The Nutcracker,” which is a pretty positive one, no?

I love [name]Clara[/name]! [name]Clara[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is adorable and [name]Grace[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], and [name]Clara[/name] work so well together. There was a [name]Clarabelle[/name] the cow on some Disney movie or show, which might be what your friend was talking about. I think just [name]Clara[/name] is fine, though, and quite stunning. I don’t think most people think “cow” when they hear [name]Clara[/name]! Good luck!

Oh, [name]Clara[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is pretty!

I only vaguely remember [name]Clarabelle[/name] Cow…pretty sure Disney hasnt used her in years. So if you’d use names like [name]Daisy[/name] and [name]Minnie[/name] (or [name]Donald[/name] or [name]Mickey[/name])…[name]Clara[/name] being PART of cartoon cow’s name shouldnt be a problem at all imo.

I don’t think of a cow at all. Actually, my friend just had twins, one of which is [name]Clara[/name] [name]Kay[/name]. I like [name]Mae[/name] better (doesn’t repeat the K sound)!

It’s so annoying when people use lovely baby names for animals…My friend named her goat [name]Annabelle[/name]. [name]Annabelle[/name] is not a goat name, [name]Clara[/name] is not a cows name either! [name]Clara[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is so sweet. I know a lady in my MOPS group who has a [name]Clara[/name]…her children are [name]Alice[/name], [name]Della[/name], and [name]Clara[/name] (all sweet little girls with curls).

First off, [name]Clara[/name] is a beautiful and stylish name. I love it.

[name]Just[/name] so you know, [name]Clarabelle[/name] the Cow is a current [name]Mickey[/name] Mouse Clubhouse character - not as big of a role on the show as [name]Minnie[/name] or [name]Daisy[/name] but a regular character just the same. I don’t, however, think this would cause people to think of a cow when your little girl is introduced as [name]Clara[/name]. It’s unfortunate that your friend voiced her cow name association to you, but I don’t think she’s in the majority on having that association.

I knew a wealthy lady named [name]Clara[/name] and I never thought of a cow! [name]Clarabelle[/name] is a Disney character cow - but not [name]Clara[/name]. [name]Lovely[/name] and classic, I say.

I have a [name]Clara[/name]! I hear nothing but compliments on her name. [name]Clarabelle[/name] is a - currently on [name]Mickey[/name] Mouse Clubhouse. I’m expecting #4, and really wanted the name [name]Belle[/name] until I realized that you pair the two girl’s names together and you get a cow name. [name]Clara[/name] by itself, however is totally safe. I think it goes nicely with your other girls.

I think [name]Clara[/name] is nice, and I don’t think having 2 DD’s starting with C is a problem, especially since [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] start with different sounds even though it’s the same letter.

I don’t think of a cow at all when I hear [name]Clara[/name]. [name]Clarabelle[/name], maybe. I’m more likely to think of [name]Clara[/name] [name]Barton[/name] or [name]Klara[/name] from [name]Heidi[/name] and the Nutcracker. I think it is a nice name, and getting popular again.

It probably doesn’t matter but wouldn’t [name]Grace[/name] feel “left out” name wise because of [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Clara[/name] both start with C? I love [name]Clara[/name] [name]Mae[/name] it’s really sweet!

[name]Clara[/name] is beautiful. I would use it.
A boy once told my grandmother, oh [name]Florence[/name], you are so beautiful, just like a cow.

I think [name]Clara[/name] is perfectly lovely. No cow associations here. Furthermore, she goes perfect with [name]Grace[/name] & [name]Charlotte[/name].

I think they all go great together, although [name]Clara[/name] is probably a little less popular than the other two. I really like [name]Clara[/name] [name]Mae[/name].
And the cow was [name]Clarabelle[/name], she is from Disney, but probably not many people make that association.

The only [name]Clara[/name] I know is a little baby from my neighborhood play group in [name]Brooklyn[/name]…not a cow! I think the cow thing is as outdated as [name]Felix[/name] the cat…those names are fashionable now and the only people who don’t realize it are unfashionable people
