What do you think of the name [name_f]Clarabella[/name_f]?
The cow from [name_u]Mickey[/name_u] Mouse is all I think about, even though that’s [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f]. It’s a shame cuz i should love it based on the sounds.
Cow was the first thing i thought of, too. Not even familiar with the mickey one.
i thought of the cow from [name_u]Mickey[/name_u] Mouse too. I think it’s a little too tied to the cow for a first name, but could make a beautiful middle when paired with the right name.
All these smoosh -[name_f]Belle[/name_f] and -[name_f]Bella[/name_f] names sounds like they are supposed to be first + middle, but somehow ended attached.
i.e. [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] sounds like it’s supposed to be [name_f]Clara[/name_f] + [name_f]Belle[/name_f], otherwise [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f].
I do like [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Clarabella[/name_f] and some smoosh names, but I think I would pick [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Clarabella[/name_f].
I love most names ending in -bel or -belle, but I don’t like [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] that much. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you feel about [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Amabelle[/name_f], Florabelle, Loubelle, [name_f]Sabelle[/name_f], Emmabelle, Lilybelle or Bebelle ([name_u]BAY[/name_u]-bell)?
The cow from [name_u]Mickey[/name_u] Mouse was also my first thought. It’s too over the top and frilly for me sorry.
I think it’s very sweet. I didn’t think of the cow until I saw all the other comments about it, but honestly that’s not really a problem for me. My first thought was actually just [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]. But I like it.
I’ve never heard of the cow, so I don’t have that association. That said, it’s just too frilly for me personally.
All cow for me as well, I’m sorry. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f]? Alternatively, you could go for [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Clarabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] sometimes as a nickname!
I think its quite a fussy name for a spoilt brat with a bad attitude
I absolutely love the name [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. But [name_f]Clarabella[/name_f] is too frilly for me, and also makes me think of [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] the cow. Sorry!
I think it’s very pretty, although as other people have said it is a little close to clarabelle which is very linked to the cow image (although I wasn’t aware of the Disney cow). Then again, I doubt many people would actually point this out if you used the name and instead would only comment on how lovely it is
I like to compare it to the names [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Bessie[/name_f] and [name_f]Dolly[/name_f]. [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Bessie[/name_f] are the two main “cow names” imo and how many beautiful little girls called daisy are there out there? [name_m]How[/name_m] cute is [name_f]Bessie[/name_f]? [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] is the name of a Disney cow and a Disney goose and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is as well, even though [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] is one of the most classic girls names ever and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] one of the most popular names in recent years. [name_f]Dolly[/name_f] was the most famous sheep in the world, but who doesn’t think vintage nickname-names are really “in” right now? Same goes for [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because all these names are Disney animal names doesn’t mean they aren’t popular or stylish, so imo even [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] shouldn’t be out of bounds and [name_f]Clarabella[/name_f] is safe! If you do use it and people bring up the cow gomme t you can always politely say that the cow is clarabelle and your little girl is [name_f]Clarabella[/name_f], or try and avoid it by using [name_f]Clara[/name_f] or [name_f]Bella[/name_f] as nicknames.
Sorry for the long post!!
I think associations have a way of disappearing once the name is actually attached to a little baby so I wouldn’t let the [name_u]Micky[/name_u] Mouse thing trip you up. It’s also a very dated association, I don’t know how many young people would even be aware of the character. If you really like it, I would absolutely use it. It is a beautiful, unique name with lots of nickname options. I personally love the nickname [name_f]Clary[/name_f], but there are countless ones to choose from. Also, I like a previous posters idea of using [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] or some other combo that leads to [name_f]Clarabella[/name_f] as a nickname. Other names you might consider are:
[name_f]Clarinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
Bonniebel
[name_f]Rosabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabella[/name_f]
Or possibly use [name_f]Clara[/name_f] as a first name with a long feminine middle like:
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Yvaine[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
There’s lots of ways you can go here, but if [name_f]Clarabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Clarabelle[/name_f] are the ones you love, use it. People are silly and judgmental during the name choosing process but often accepting when the name is already on a person. To me it seems that the overall tone of this thread is very negative and some of the comments are uncalled for and rude. So I hope you don’t let this negativity impact your experience. Best of luck, enjoy your name hunting!!!
My first thought is of [name_f]Annie[/name_f] & [name_f]Clarabel[/name_f], who are coaches from the Railway series ([name_m]Thomas[/name_m] the Tank Engine).
I’ve never heard of the cow connection (though I don’t live in the USA).
Honestly, I don’t think those associations are that problematic. There are plenty of other Claribels (with various spellings) she can look to as namesakes.
[name_f]Clarabella[/name_f] is elaborate, but it gves the options of more streamlined nicknames. Both [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and -bella names are popular at the moment, so a [name_f]Clarabella[/name_f] born now wouldn’t sound out of place on the playground.
I think it’s useable and, if you love it, you should go for it.
Good luck!
[name_f]Clarabella[/name_f] doesn’t appeal to me at all. I do like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] though.
