Clarice is my latest name crush. I’ve never seen Silence of the Lambs and don’t plan to, but I know it’s a popular association. Will that association be a problem? I was thinking of using it as a middle name, maybe Jane Clarice?
I don’t think of [name_f]Silence[/name_f] of the Lambs, personally. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] is lovely!
[name_f]Clarice[/name_f] is gorgeous and sleek! I’ve nevet seen [name_f]Silence[/name_f] of the Lambs so I can’t help there
One of my very favorite names. It is so lovely. I like the spelling [name_f]Clarisse[/name_f] too…
When I asked your same question on a non name nerd site most people said that the association was too strong making it unusable. Their comments helped me like the name even more, though, because it made me realize that I do not care!
silence of the lambs is my first association, but it’s certainly not a dealbreaker. i think jane clarice is lovely!
I’ve never seen [name_f]Silence[/name_f] of the lambs either but that was my first thought. SomI think the association is still relevant. However as a middle I think it’s just fine
I actually associate that name with the sweet female deer from the 1964 movie [name_m]Rudolph[/name_m] the [name_u]Red[/name_u] Nose Reindeer. [name_f]Silence[/name_f] of the Lambs doesn’t even come to mind.
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] is nice.
[name_m]Ive[/name_m] never seen silence of the lambs but it is my first thought even so! Definitely fine as a middle name.
I’ve only seen the movie once, and such a long time ago - but it was such a shocking and scary movie to me that I will always associate the name with that film. I wouldn’t want to think of it any more than I had to lol! But if you’ve never seen it and don’t plan to, then use it!! You might have to get used to people asking her if she can hear the lambs screaming though shudder
I think immediately of [name_f]Silence[/name_f] of the Lambs, especially because the way one of the characters says the name is a notable detail people remember and even imitate from the film, so I do think it’s a dealbreaker for me (sorry!) because the movie is notably very dark and disturbing (though it’s a great movie). As a middle name I doubt it would be an issue, and it really depends on your crowd, but I can definitely see [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] being easily connected to the film.
TLDR: I personally find it unusable as a first name, and it would be unusable in my social circles, but I think it depends on the situation and probably wouldn’t think about it too much if I ever met a [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] IRL.
I love the name [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] ,I saw [name_f]Silence[/name_f] of the lambs and I do associate it with it too, but my first association was The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] Diaries,I really don’t think that the association will be a problem ,especially since the movie is over 30 years old now
[name_f]My[/name_f] first association is [name_m]Rudolph[/name_m] the Red-Nosed Reindeer because … I guess I’m weird like that. But I do eventually get to [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] from SotL. Not my thing, but it could theoretically be useable.
As a first name, I do think of SOTL but as a middle name I think [name_f]Clarise[/name_f] is lovely. People will always have name associations for every name but once you name your child that, they will soon associate the name with your child so if you love it- use it
I love [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] (and Clarisse)!! I don’t think of [name_f]Silence[/name_f] of the Lambs at all, my association with it is actually [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Clarisse[/name_f] in The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] Diaries! [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] would be a beautiful combo!
I like it!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] because it’s the name of my favorite writer [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] Lispector, she was a genius. I don’t associate it with [name_f]Silence[/name_f] of the Lambs. I do prefer the spelling “Clarisse” though
