Classic Girl Names

I am worried about the popularity of some of these names, but either way here are my favorites (last name “[name_m]Long[/name_m]”):

[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]

Which of these are your favorites?

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] are some of my favourite names. Unfortunately all three are becoming much too popular for my liking!

I think all these names are beautiful. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] are true evergreen classic names that feel like they’ve always been popular, no matter what decade. [name_u]True[/name_u] timeless classics. Probably not names that I’d pick but are obviously so beautiful parents have been picking them in their droves for decades.

[name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] are likely to be indicative of the person’s general birth year, much like the [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], Stephanies of the 80s or the [name_f]Brenda[/name_f], [name_f]Patricia[/name_f], Deborahs of the 60s. All lovely names, but I think they’ll be very attached to this generation. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is definitely one of my favourites, but the popularity does bother me personally.

Lastly I see [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Martha[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] as timeless, non-classics. I feel like I could know women of all ages with these names, they are not inherently tied to one generation. But are also not classics, are a little more offbeat.

My favourites from your list, if I was to have a baby today are: [name_f]Martha[/name_f] or [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. I have too many little Matildas in my social group now, but if I didn’t it would definitely be a high contender - and i think it sounds lovely with your surname!

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is my favorite.
It has it all! It’s classic and familiar but not too popular and it has so so so many amazing nicknames!
I also love [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Martha[/name_f].

[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] are lovely!!

[name_f]Olive[/name_f] - I named my daughter that)
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] - her middle name Haha plus it has great nicknames
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Martha[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] has some good possible nicknames

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is my favourite, followed by [name_f]Olive[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Violet[/name_f] would be the most popular of these, and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] the least popular, although it’s definitely still rising. These names all feel fresh, sweet, and definitely classical.

I also like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], but she’s lacking something in my opinion. Certainly a classic though! [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is short and sweet but never had much of an appeal to me. I’ve never really liked [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] but strangely she’s growing on me now, though I much prefer the [name_f]Anabel[/name_f] spelling. I would prefer [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] over [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], and [name_f]Martha[/name_f] are all very outdated imo and don’t really have any appeal.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

Here are my thoughts:

[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]-This is cute. It has a sweet sort of Southern sound. I’m not sure that it is a name that grows up all that well, but I may be reading too much into it. It’s not overly common that I know of.

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]-This is fine, but it’s just so over done that it doesn’t sparkle.

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]-Kind of fun & a little bit different. It has a little chic [name_m]French[/name_m] girl vibe.

[name_f]Grace[/name_f]-I could never get excited about this name, but it’s perfectly fine. Fairly popular.

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]-Although I find [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] a tad clunky, I appreciate that old fashioned charm. And especially all of the great nns! [name_f]Gerty[/name_f] is my all time favorite, but [name_f]Maisy[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] & [name_f]Peggy[/name_f] are also very sweet.

[name_f]Martha[/name_f]-I have similar feelings here as w/[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. I find it sort of clunky, but it’s unique & classic, so I kind of like it too.

[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]-Same as above, but I can see this one getting more popular. I like [name_f]Millie[/name_f] as a nn.

[name_f]Olive[/name_f]-I really like this one. It reminds me of the term olive branch, which is very peaceful of course. It’s also a little bit spunky, yet sophisticated. And I love love the nn [name_f]Livy[/name_f]. I don’t think that this is going to get too terribly popular, although it is moving up the charts.

[name_f]Violet[/name_f]-This is lovely, & has a kind cheerful sound. This one I can see getting way more popular in the next couple of years.

In conclusion, my favorites are [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] & [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] in that order. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
