Classic names, what do you guys think?

These are the names that I really like for my baby girl. I personally prefer slightly old fashioned classic names.
It would be nice to hear your opinions.

[name]Reagan[/name].
[name]Sadie[/name].
[name]Ferne[/name].
[name]Scarlet[/name].
[name]Georgia[/name].
[name]Harriet[/name].
[name]Natasha[/name].
[name]Freya[/name].
[name]Robyn[/name].
[name]Lacey[/name].
[name]Priscilla[/name].
[name]Ruby[/name].
Beatrix nn Trixie.

I love these names, however me and my partner can’t agree on a name for the moment. He is French and myself British. So we might have to compromise somehow.
I’d love to know what you think of my girls names.
Thanks,
[name]Sammi[/name].

My name is [name]Robin[/name] and I’ve always liked that there weren’t too many other [name]Robin[/name]'s my age. In the U.S., it seems to usually be spelled with an “i”… I’ve never had anyone guess at the spelling of my name and spell it wrong.

From your list, I also like [name]Lacey[/name]. [name]Natasha[/name] is okay. The others aren’t my style.

[name]Reagan[/name] – [name]Even[/name] though this has a sort of masculine sound, I really like the idea of it on a girl! You might also like [name]Delaney[/name] and [name]Connelly[/name].
[name]Sadie[/name] – This is a great name! I love the strong but pretty quality that it has.
[name]Fearne[/name] – I love [name]Fern[/name], but I really don’t like this spelling. It reminds me of “fear” and it will be misspelled all the time.
[name]Scarlet[/name] – Nms, but pretty.
[name]Georgia[/name] – Great name! Sounds really lush and rich. I think of a spunky, beautiful person.
[name]Harriet[/name] – I can’t get past the “[name]Harry[/name]” sound in this name. I like [name]Etta[/name] though.
[name]Natasha[/name] – This is pretty!
[name]Freya[/name] – Nms.
[name]Robyn[/name] – This is cute! I think I’d prefer the [name]Robin[/name] spelling though.
[name]Lacey[/name] – So pretty! You might also like [name]Chantilly[/name].
[name]Priscilla[/name] – Sounds too old-fashioned to me. [name]Silvana[/name] strikes me as similar, but a little more modern.
[name]Ruby[/name] – [name]Love[/name] this! You might also like [name]Pearl[/name] and [name]Adelaide[/name].

What kinds of names does your partner like?

I love the name [name]Charlotte[/name]. Seems classic to me. [name]Reagan[/name] is trendy these days (I know of two newborn Reagans). My favs from your list are; [name]Sadie[/name] & [name]Ruby[/name]

The only name he has mentioned is [name]Jade[/name] which although It is a lovely name I know quite a few jades. I wouldn’t mind [name]Jade[/name] as a middle name.

I grew up in a bi-cultural home and really enjoy that my name sounds good in both languages I grew up speaking. It makes it easier not having to correct 1/2 the people I know on how to pn it. Maybe you should look at names that sound good both in French and English. I don’t speak French so I don’t know how these actually sound in French but for what it’s worth my opinion on your list is below.

[name]Reagan[/name] - nms.
[name]Sadie[/name] - I think it is really sweet though I prefer it as a nn than a fn.
[name]Fearne[/name] - nms.
[name]Scarlet[/name] - love this name.
[name]Georgia[/name] - mms however there is a Gorgette (sp?) in the French film [name]Amelie[/name]. Maybe that appeals to you?
[name]Harriet[/name] - I prefer [name]Henrietta[/name] because [name]Harriet[/name] reminds me of [name]Harriet[/name] the Spy and I’m not a fan of the inevitable [name]Harry[/name] nn for a girl.
[name]Natasha[/name] - nms.
[name]Freya[/name] - love [name]Freya[/name].
[name]Robyn[/name] - prefer [name]Robin[/name] on a boy.
[name]Lacey[/name] - nms.
[name]Priscilla[/name] - one of my favorites. I don’t know how it sounds in french but it feels like it might be main-stream enough (through it’s pop-culture reference) that it is recognizable with the correct pn in most countries.
[name]Ruby[/name] - love as a nn but not a fn.

Some of my English/French suggestions would be: [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Juliette[/name], [name]Mirabelle[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Aimee[/name], [name]Celeste[/name], or [name]Hyacinth[/name]

[name]Jade[/name] is a very nice name, though if you use it as a mn, it would rule out using some of the names from your list below. [name]Scarlet[/name] [name]Jade[/name] wouldn’t work, nor would [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Jade[/name] -too many gemstones! Are you living in [name]North[/name] [name]America[/name] or Europe? That would have a significant impact on which names come across as classic & slightly old-fashioned, and which aren’t. Here are my thoughts on your list:
[name]Reagan[/name] -this doesn’t fit your criteria imo. But that’s coming from a [name]North[/name] American perspective. I just always think of [name]Ronald[/name] [name]Reagan[/name] and wouldn’t want to name a precious baby girl after a former American president.
[name]Sadie[/name] -I like it. I also like these other names that are related to [name]Sarah[/name]; [name]Sarika[/name], Saranna, [name]Sera[/name], [name]Zara[/name] (although some sites say this is an Arabic name with a different meaning and isn’t realated to [name]Sarah[/name]… some sites say it’s a variation of [name]Sarah[/name], as is [name]Sadie[/name])
[name]Fearne[/name] -I have an aunt [name]Fern[/name] and she keeps getting called [name]Verne[/name]. I don’t think I could use it although I like the woodsy, peaceful image it brings to mind.
[name]Scarlet[/name] -nms -this name gives me the exact opposite image as [name]Fearne[/name] does -firey, outgoing, busy, excited…
[name]Georgia[/name] -nms -3 different neighbours have named their dogs [name]Georgie[/name], [name]Georgia[/name] & [name]George[/name] so I could never use this name for a child. If I were to hear it on a child though I would think of peaches and southern belles and Spanish moss and etc. stereotypical, I know but…
[name]Harriet[/name] -I had a colleague with this name who went by [name]Hattie[/name]. She is a sweetheart, so I have good association with the name, but in truth the name itself seems too strong and hard for a girl. As a pp said, maybe I can’t get past the [name]Harry[/name] part.
[name]Natasha[/name] -I love [name]Natasha[/name], especially nn [name]Tash[/name] or [name]Tasha[/name]. It’s very pretty and feminine
[name]Freya[/name] -nms
[name]Robyn[/name] -very nice name. I know a couple [name]Robyn[/name]/[name]Robins[/name] who are a few years older than me (so, in their late 30s or early 40s), but I haven’t heard of any young Robyns recently, even though the name has a fresh, spunky feel to it.
[name]Lacey[/name] -really nms. It’s too frilly
[name]Priscilla[/name] -lovely name, although it means “ancient”. What do you think of its variations; [name]Prisca[/name]/Priska, [name]Cilla[/name], or names that are similar; [name]Stella[/name],
[name]Ruby[/name] -not really my style, and shouldn’t be paired with [name]Jade[/name]. it fits your criteria to a T though!

Others that might work for you:
[name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]/[name]Vivian[/name]/[name]Vivien[/name] -means “life”!
[name]Eleanor[/name]/[name]Elinor[/name] -means “light”
[name]Elodie[/name] or [name]Eloise[/name] -both these names are classic, but old & coming back. Plus they’re French but well recognized in English (I guess [name]Eleanor[/name] fits that description too!).
[name]Adelaide[/name] -means “noble” it’s very classic, not used too much yet, but because of [name]Adele[/name]'s popularity, people recognize it, I think.
[name]Seren[/name] -means “star” -I’m just throwing this out there because I recently discovered this name & like it, although I don’t think it really fits your criteria. Apparently it is very popular in [name]Wales[/name].

I also love the name [name]Stella[/name] and it was my set fave! However everyone I announced it to instantly thought of the beer! Which kind of ruined the romantic feel of the name for me.

[name]Georgia[/name] is my fav! I also like [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Natasha[/name] is ok. The others I am not a fan of! :/.

I love the name [name]Georgia[/name]- I think it’s classic without being boring.

I like [name]Harriet[/name], [name]Lacey[/name], and [name]Ruby[/name] the best. Not that it really matters, but I wouldn’t consider any of these classic–I would consider [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], [name]Mary[/name], [name]Jane[/name], [name]Anne[/name], [name]Margaret[/name], [name]Julia[/name], etc. classic. [name]Harriet[/name]'s probably the closest, but it seems much more vintage to me.

If I were to pick just one, it’d probably be between [name]Harriet[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]. I love the nns [name]Hattie[/name] and Roo/[name]Bea[/name], and while I adore [name]Lacey[/name], it feels a bit dated to me, unfortunately. Not that that should be a reason not to use it (it hasn’t stopped me from loving [name]Rachel[/name]!), but it does give me pause. I think [name]Harriet[/name] is more unusual, which is nice, but I’m not sure whether I actually prefer [name]Harriet[/name] or [name]Ruby[/name]. They both have their benefits. I think [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] would be fabulous, actually, and the nn [name]Hattie[/name] is adorable.

My favorites from your list are:

[name]Scarlet[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Natasha[/name]
[name]Freya[/name]

If you’re going for old fashioned classic, stick with:

[name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name]
[name]Robin[/name] (spelled only this way)
[name]Natasha[/name]
[name]Priscilla[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]

The rest wouldn’t strike me as “classic” at all.

I like [name]Harriet[/name], nn [name]Hattie[/name], [name]Priscilla[/name] is pretty too. The rest aren’t my style but I wouldn’t have a bad reaction to them if I heard them on a baby girl either, except maybe [name]Fearne[/name].

I really like [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name]. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to see [name]Priscilla[/name]. [name]How[/name] refreshing!

My top 3 from your list would be
[name]Reagan[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name]

My top 3 from your list would be
[name]Reagan[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]

These are my top names too with [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Priscilla[/name]. But I love them all! So hard to chose!! My partner just scanned my list and suggested [name]Priscilla[/name]-[name]Rose[/name]. It’s lovely too hear other peoples opinions on my chosen faves! Please keep posting! I’m hoping this will help us decide on one!! Thanks.

I did consider [name]Scarlett[/name] but wanted to get away from the [name]Scarlett[/name] Johansson association. As beautiful as she is I am not personally looking to name my girl after a film star! Thanks for posting great to hear your opinions!

I’ve also been thinking about Clementine, Florence, Ryan, Odelia and Tessa as possible names. What do you guys think about these?
I’m finding it so hard to choose! With my boy I knew as soon as I saw his name Faris that it was the one! But with girls names I love so many that I find it hard to narrow down the list!
Btw, I’m not into making the siblings names match, I personally prefer each name to be unique to each baby.
