I am searching for the ideal combination of a classic, pretty, underused name that is suitable for both child and professional adult - not asking for much!!
The following are my list of favorites but I have over thought them all so much I am more confused than ever!! Would love to get your opinions on the following (and if it helps I already have a son [name]Charlie[/name])
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] (if not used by my sister first!)
[name]Fleur[/name]
[name]Freya[/name]
[name]Georgette[/name]
I love [name]Imogen[/name], [name]Annabel[/name] & [name]Freya[/name]! [name]Charlie[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name] are adorable together, and definitely my favourite option.
[name]Imogen[/name] - pretty and underused definitely, I wouldn’t call it a classic but it’s not rendy either, it’s a fab choice. Although if you’re in the UK by any chance, it’s not underused at all! Lol.
[name]Annabel[/name] - Hmm I’m surprised how underused this still is in the US, again it’s super popular in the UK, but in the US I’d say this name is the definition of classic, pretty and underused! The perfect choice for you, sounds great with [name]Charlie[/name] and you have nn options [name]Annie[/name], [name]Anna[/name], [name]Belle[/name] or [name]Bella[/name]!
[name]Fleur[/name] - I have a soft spot for [name]Fleur[/name], though I find it a little difficult/strange to say. It’s very pretty though and not even in the top 1000 so definitely underused.
[name]Freya[/name] - I find it hard to view this name as anything other than trendy now because it’s so trendy here in the UK. I did love it at one point though so I guess if it wasn’t so popular here I’d probably be more fond of it still. It’s certainly not a classic though, it’s a pretty unusual and quriky name.
[name]Georgette[/name] - I do like the female [name]George[/name] names ([name]Georgina[/name], [name]Georgiana[/name], [name]Georgia[/name] even [name]Georgetta[/name] a little) but something about [name]Georgette[/name] is just off to me. I don’t like it. And it feels like it’s trying too hard.
Personally I’d choose [name]Annabel[/name] for you but I also think [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Fleur[/name] would make lovely choices! Good luck
I think [name]Imogen[/name] is the one that really hits all of your criteria. [name]Fleur[/name] and [name]Georgette[/name] are beautiful, but not necessarily “classic” here in the states. (Unless you are not in the states, then disregard this comment). [name]Freya[/name], while lovely, is definitely more mythological than classical, and then we have [name]Annabel[/name], which I also feel like hit’s all of your criteria.
I love [name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Georgette[/name]!
[name]Annabel[/name] - pretty, works well with [name]Charlie[/name]
[name]Fleur[/name] - doesn’t really go with [name]Charlie[/name], and is maybe too French and not very understandable here
[name]Freya[/name] - too unusual to go with [name]Charlie[/name]
[name]Georgette[/name] is the standout on the list, I think- classic, pretty, will grow up well, and definitely underused in the whole English-speaking world at the moment [name]Fleur[/name] and [name]Flora[/name] are the runners up, to me- they’re definitely pretty, under-used classics, but I think [name]Georgette[/name] is a bit better on a grown woman. I definitely have an image of a [name]Fleur[/name] or a [name]Flora[/name] as a delicate, very feminine, beauty ([name]Clemence[/name] [name]Poesy[/name] in the the [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] movies makes an excellent [name]Fleur[/name]).
[name]Annabelle[/name] is nearly top-100 in the US and is top-100 in the UK. [name]Anneliese[/name]/[name]Annelise[/name] or just plain [name]Anne[/name] are both more under-used options.
[name]Imogen[/name] and [name]Freya[/name] are exceptionally popular in [name]Britain[/name] at the moment (top-30 ish), though rarely used in [name]North[/name] [name]America[/name]. In [name]North[/name] [name]America[/name] I think they’d come across as British, rather than classic and under-used? [name]Freya[/name] certainly sounds more exotic
If you’re in [name]North[/name] [name]America[/name], there’s also [name]Harriet[/name], [name]Florence[/name], and [name]Louisa[/name] or [name]Louise[/name], which I think tick all your boxes!
Options that tick all your boxes in [name]North[/name] [name]America[/name] and [name]Britain[/name] too: [name]Susannah[/name], [name]Jane[/name], [name]Rosalind[/name], [name]Althea[/name], [name]Saskia[/name], [name]Amabel[/name], [name]Clea[/name], [name]Ginevra[/name], [name]Marion[/name]/[name]Marianne[/name], [name]Ramona[/name], and [name]Margot[/name].
I like all your choices. I’d say [name]Annabel[/name] for a U.S. baby, [name]Imogen[/name] for elsewhere. That’s how I’d narrow it down, anyway. Using your criteria. [name]Freya[/name] would be my personal choice, but I wouldn’t call it “classic” in the same sense as your other names. [name]Don[/name]'t worry about which of these fits best with [name]Charlie[/name], they all do in their own way.
[name]Imogen[/name] off your list. I also like [name]Harriet[/name] (nn [name]Etta[/name]) and [name]Florence[/name] (nn [name]Flora[/name]) Never seen [name]Georgette[/name] before and quite like it.
