Classic/vintage help!

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I are trying to narrow down our list for our baby girl. What do you think of the following:
[name_f]Eva[/name_f] (ee-va)
Lillian/Lilly (or Lily)

[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] would be pretty. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is cute she could have [name_f]Annie[/name_f] as a nickname
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] I think is timeless .
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is fine but maybe getting too common
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is charming [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] are pretty nicknames
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] has a certain charm and isn’t frilly but clearly feminine
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] I think is pretty but people might be confused by the pronunciation. [name_f]Eva[/name_f] might have that same confusion.
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Layla[/name_f] would work as middle names. [name_m]Just[/name_m] my opinion.

Nothing against any of them but a lifetime of explaining the pronunciation or spelling is something I always consider. But I think they are all pretty.

Favorites are [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], and [name_f]Ada[/name_f].
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is very sweet.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]! It is so sweetly vintage

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] are my favorites :heartpulse: [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] are a bit more unexpected and lively, but I adore the elegance of classic [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]! In terms of classic, I’d say [name_f]Layla[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] would be the least.

I think you could go longer, classic names with a “vintage” nickname

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f] or Belle/Belle
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lily[/name_f] / [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ada[/name_f] or [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] (I love Adelaide!)
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] nn Flissie, [name_f]Cece[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f] (there’s [name_f]Flick[/name_f], [name_f]Lissie[/name_f] or [name_f]Fifi[/name_f] too but I don’t love them myself)
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Evvy[/name_f] (Evv-ie)

Wildcard: [name_f]Avalon[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] nn [name_f]Isla[/name_f] (maybe a stretch! [name_u]Or[/name_u] else Isla-Rose)

[name_u]Or[/name_u] maybe super refined (which I personally love):

[name_f]Rose[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f]

I don’t think [name_f]Layla[/name_f] matches the rest and would probably cull unless it’s especially meaningful.

Anyway you have a lot of lovely choices, my favourites of your list are [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] or straight [name_f]Lily[/name_f] but all of them are pretty!

[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]: sweet as a milkmaid in my mind.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]: nice but Twilight-y and ornate. I prefer [name_f]Rose[/name_f].

[name_f]Isla[/name_f]: peaceful name that reminds me of the [name_u]Isle[/name_u] of [name_u]Skye[/name_u], but I prefer [name_f]Lila[/name_f].

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]: sparky and bright, it’s a frilly, yet determined name. I can’t decide whether I like the nns, though.

[name_f]Layla[/name_f]: not a fan even though it’s undoubtedly a rock song-worthy name; the opening syllable is too flat on my tongue, I guess!

[name_f]Eva[/name_f]: pretty, but I’m not sure about that long “eeee” opening syllable and we are awash in Avas, Evelyns, etc.

[name_f]Ada[/name_f]: the less charming version of [name_f]Ava[/name_f].

[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] “Lilly:” [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is lacey and frumpy. Plus, [name_f]Lilly[/name_f] just looks wrong to me. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is my favorite version! It’s has a lilting, simple sound.

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]: gorgeous — I esp. love the nn [name_f]Char[/name_f], but it is so common, it will seem almost as boring to many like [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] did in the 90s/2000s I’m afraid. Still, Charlotte’s a classy, warm name that’s beguiling for good reason.

[name_f]Annabel[/name_f] - charming, stylish and gentle, but with spark too

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] - elegant, zippy and pretty

[name_f]Isla[/name_f] - sharp and bright though popular

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] - light, elegant, cheerful and sweet

[name_f]Layla[/name_f] - great meaning and warm sound

[name_f]Eva[/name_f] - sharp but sweet, international and lovely

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] - warm and vintage and snappy

[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] - [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is my preference - elegant and strong, sweet and lovely

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - solid, classic, elegant and understated - popular but versatile with great nicknames!

[name_f]My[/name_f] top choices: [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f] would be my combos

Oh I love so many of these! [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (with nn Lottie) would be my choices; I also adore [name_f]Layla[/name_f], even though it has a slightly less classic ring than your other picks. The only ones I’m not really feeling are [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and Felicity; they feel a bit crowded and ‘fussy’. But any would be a lovely choice :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], then [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Layla[/name_f]. You have such a pretty style!

From favourite to least favourite…

[name_f]Ada[/name_f]- LOVE [name_f]Ada[/name_f]. Cute, vintage, and simple, not too common, feminine without being frilly. [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_u]Lovelace[/name_u] is also an amazing association.
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]- [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is super cute! I find it’s so nice to say. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Lily[/name_f], don’t love [name_f]Lilly[/name_f].
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]- Simple and sweet, can’t really go wrong.
[name_f]Layla[/name_f]- [name_u]Love[/name_u] the sound of [name_f]Layla[/name_f], but it has a bajillion spellings, so you might get some confusion from that. I also find it doesn’t have the same vibe from the rest of your list?
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]- Really cute, but so popular. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] as a nickname.
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]- I find [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] gets so much love on here, but I’m not a big fan. Not sure why.
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]- [name_f]Pretty[/name_f], but a little pretentious to me. I do love [name_f]Rose[/name_f], though.
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]- Don’t love it, but I see why others do. It sounds very southern to me.
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]- I really dislike [name_f]Isla[/name_f], but just because of a bad association.

Overall, your list is lovely! Good luck!

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] or [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]!

So many good ones, great taste, but [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] stand out :two_hearts:
