Classical or Common?

There is just something about the name [name_m]ALEXANDER[/name_m] that gets to me, I love the classical and historical backdrops but because of the many [name_u]Alex[/name_u]'s and [name_m]Xander[/name_m]'s running around I am discouraged. Help me decide; [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] or not

Yes! [name_f]IMO[/name_f] it’s a classic.

I would consider it to be both, honestly.

It’s both. I love the name, but I dislike that it gets shortened. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is one of those names that I prefer whole.

It’s a well used classic and I think it’s gorgeous. The nicknames are great too. I wouldn’t let the popularity bother you, it’s such a handsome solid name.

I really like [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. Personally I like less common names but I think [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is very Classic and love it on someone else’s kid.

It’s both, honestly. It’s classic and has become common in recent years. I still love it though.

[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is a good solid name and is actually likely to stand out a bit (at least in some places) for being a classic

An [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] can be any age, from any place which is something some people aim for

I agree with a lot of the posters. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is gorgeous! I have it as a MN on my own list, but I like it up front, too. It is totally classic and timeless (or at least, it feels so to me–I’ve heard of Alexanders from every age!), but it’s also very popular right now. I used to not like it, but it’s definitely grown on me the past several years, and I think a little [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] would be so handsome. I’m not fond of [name_u]Alex[/name_u] at all, and would probably try and stay away from [name_m]Zander[/name_m]/[name_m]Xander[/name_m], just because it seems really trendy right now, but I love the (Arabic?) Skandar, and [name_m]Alec[/name_m] and [name_m]Alexei[/name_m] are really cool, too. I think [name_m]Zane[/name_m] could be a fun (and unexpected) nn, too. I would totally go for it!

[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]'s definetly a classic!

It is number 15 here in Australia, but I honestly think I’ve only met 3 or 4 Alexanders, so I don’t perceive it as being too common.

[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is only a middle name option on our list, mostly because I can’t stand the nn [name_u]Alex[/name_u]. I prefer [name_m]Xander[/name_m] or [name_m]Zan[/name_m].

I would also consider [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] a classic. [name_u]Alex[/name_u] is extremely common in my age group, and I used to HATE it. Now I love [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. Go figure. Still can’t stand [name_u]Alex[/name_u] though.
