Normally I already have names picked out, but this time I just have a concept. It might be a cliché plotline (or at least opening) but I figured I’d see what you all have to say.
Two women, Character A and Character B, I guess, are just settling into bed late one night when there is a knock on the door. Character B opens the door to find two twelve-year-old girls (fraternal twins, we find out a little later) asking if this is where Character A lives. [name_m]Long[/name_m] story short, Characters C & D claim to be Character A’s daughters.
I know the whole “your children who you gave up for adoption have come to find you” thing is really common but I’m just writing this for funsies and not to try to go anywhere with. Anyway.
Characters C & D have been stuck in the foster system for twelve years and decided to find their birth mother as a way to escape. They end up asking lots of questions about Character A’s relationship with Character B since they’re both women, but they know enough about where babies come from that it doesn’t all add up. The twins are hopeful, curious, clever, and pretty freaking brave for twelve years old
Character B is warm and open to the twins, even though she and Character A had previously decided they didn’t want to have or adopt any children. She’s a little peeved that Character A never told her she had, you know, given birth to children back in the day, but chooses to focus on caring for the girls who just waltzed into her life.
Character A is the resistant one. Thinking Character B would be a lot angrier, she tries to lie and cover up for a little while, and is just trying to keep the twins alive long enough to get them back into the group home they belong to. Obviously, she ends up warming up to them and has to decide if/how to take them back without making it look like they’d been kidnapped.
I’m leaning towards [name_u]Peri[/name_u] for Character B and [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] for Character A, but I’m interested in hearing any suggestions!
