Clementine. PLEEEEASE READ & HELP!

Hello,

I know posting here is probably only going to make my decision that much harder, but I am in desperate need of some decision making help.

My husband and I are due with our first baby in four weeks. We (by we, I mean I) have been going back and forth between [name]Adelyn[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] throughout the entire pregnancy. Thankfully, my husband is so easygoing and has pretty much the same taste in names as I do, and he would go for either of the two.

I’ve had issues with choosing between both of them, which I am pretty much over. And we were just going to wait until we see her to pick a name. Mind you, NO [name]ONE[/name] else has been given any inclination to what her name might be (aside from you Nameberries).

However, my current issue is I’ve thrown an old love of mine back into the mix.

[name]Clementine[/name].

I have absolutely LOVED this name ever since watching the movie, “[name]Eternal[/name] [name]Sunshine[/name] of the Spotless Mind” about nine years ago.

My husband actually loves it, too, and is more than agreeing to use this name. I think it’s absolutely beautiful, cute, and has tons of personality. When it comes to names, I don’t worry about whether or not it will “look good on an application” or “it sounds cute on a baby, but not on a grown woman”, because unless I’m calling her completely outrageous or made-up, I don’t think those “rules” ever apply.

Although it has crossed my mind, the “Oh, my Darlin,” connection doesn’t really bother me all too much, because I think it’s the adults that would make the connection more than children.

After typing this out, I honestly do not know what it is that’s holding me back from using this name.

I am ABSOLUTELY all named-out and on the verge of becoming completely desensitized to [name]MALE[/name] and FEMALE names after visiting this website almost every day for almost nine months straight. So, I’m not looking for any other baby names or ideas to be thrown into the mix.

I guess I would just love to hear some opinions from fellow name lovers, particularly Berries.

What do you think of [name]Clementine[/name]? Have you used it? Would you use it? [name]Do[/name] you know someone who has used it?

Her middle name is going to be [name]Mae[/name] no matter what name is chosen.

[name]Adelyn[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
My issue with [name]Adelyn[/name] is the inevitable ‘[name]Addy[/name]’ nickname. It’s not that I don’t like it, I just know SO many little ones called [name]Addy[/name] or [name]Maddy[/name]. Also, I’m not incredibly fond of the spelling. I like [name]Adeline[/name] better, but I don’t want her being called “[name]Add[/name]-A-[name]Line[/name]”.

[name]Violet[/name] [name]Mae[/name]

I honestly don’t have many issues with this name. It’s been a favorite for a long time and it will honestly probably come down to [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Clementine[/name]. But, WHO KNOWS?!

[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
All of my issues are stated above.

Also, what are your opinions on all three?

Thank you for reading my incredibly long rant and thanks for your help in advance!!!

Would you consider [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Violet[/name] [name]Mae[/name]?

I think with [name]Mae[/name] as a middle name, [name]Adelyn[/name] is the only that flows the best. [name]Violet[/name] would be second.

[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Mae[/name] just doesn’t sound good and even though you love the name, I can’t help but think of oranges (clementines) and I also start singing the song in my head, I remember learning the song in elementary school, so it could still be possible the kids hear the song… but I think my main concern is the orange connection…

Keep [name]Clementine[/name]. [name]Love[/name] it, love it, love it.

Maybe [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Mae[/name] [name]Viola[/name]?

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] and I think it’s way better than the other two on your list. [name]Adelyn[/name] is really trendy looking - all you have to say is “add-ah-lyn” and people will know how to say [name]Adeline[/name].

I just don’t care for [name]Violet[/name]. It’s a perfectly nice name and all, but it just doesn’t have the sparkle that [name]Clementine[/name] does. [name]Violet[/name] seems pretty standard these days - [name]Clementine[/name] feels special.

Oh and I adore the song [name]Clementine[/name] by [name]Megan[/name] [name]Washington[/name].

I prefer [name]Violet[/name] [name]Mae[/name] so much to [name]Clementine[/name]. Personally I’ve never liked [name]Clementine[/name]; to me it’s a fruit an nothing else, and the same as naming a little girl Peach. However I have heard many people who like the name.

[name]Violet[/name] is classic and gorgeous, so that’s my vote. I’ve never been a fan of [name]Adelyn[/name]. It seems on point with the [name]Madison[/name]–> [name]Addison[/name], [name]Madelyn[/name]–> [name]Adelyn[/name] trend. Also you would probably get [name]Addie[/name] from time to time.

I really like [name]Clementine[/name]. Its not a name I anticipate using myself, but I do really like it.

I think because I have so many different pop culture associations with [name]Clementine[/name], none of them are too overbearing: I think 1. [name]Eternal[/name] [name]Sunshine[/name] which I also love even though it makes me cry hysterically every single time 2. minor minor character in Lost but I remember thinking it was a cute name then 3. Yummy fruit in boxes. and 4. Oh My Darlin’…

[name]Clementine[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is, pun intended, DARLING! Its breezy, feminine, but spunky in my opinion. [name]Love[/name] it.

[name]Violet[/name] [name]Mae[/name] would be my second choice, [name]Adelyn[/name] [name]Mae[/name] doesnt do much for me…I dont tend to go for -lyn names and like you, I’d want to use [name]Addy[/name], but with so many little Addys and Maddys, it loses some of its appeal. I like [name]Adeline[/name] better, but that doesnt eliminate the [name]Addy[/name] issue.

Good luck!

[name]Clementine[/name] is one of my favorites. I’ve loved it since I was a little girl and heard the song. Some people will probably call her darlin’ [name]Clementine[/name], but that’s not a bad thing. It’s cute.

I don’t particularly care for [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Mae[/name], but I do like [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Violet[/name] [name]Mae[/name] as someone else suggested. [name]Violet[/name] [name]Mae[/name] sounds lovely together. Not a big fan of [name]Adelyn[/name].

Most certainly go ahead and use [name]Clementine[/name] it is a great name full of personality, individuality, femininity etc, a very good choice.

Re your other names

I know of a child named [name]Adelina[/name] which I think is swoonworthy and her sister is [name]Liliana[/name] - what a great sibset! So this would be my choice over [name]Adelyn[/name] and I prefer [name]Adeline[/name] (ad uh leen not ad uh lyn), and I also like [name]Adelaide[/name] a lot too.

[name]Violet[/name] is a beautiful name no one could deny that and a marvellous choice for a daughter.

rollo

I like [name]Clementine[/name], but the flow of [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is not great. If you love [name]Violet[/name] about equally and if you need to use the middle name [name]Mae[/name], then I would go with [name]Violet[/name] [name]Mae[/name].

I adore [name]Clementine[/name]. Go for it!

The only thing stopping me from having [name]Clementine[/name] on my list is that there are no nn’s for it that I like. But I [name]LOVE[/name] the full name. [name]Violet[/name] is adorable too, and [name]Adalyn[/name] is far behind those two for me.

[name]Just[/name] listened to this song. I [name]LOVE[/name] it!!!

I love [name]Clementine[/name]. I think it’s a lovely name, and it’s legitimate, not outrageous, so I don’t see it posing any issues.
I actually prefer [name]Clementine[/name] over [name]Adalyn[/name]. I think [name]Violet[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is great as well.

I feel as though you should reconsider [name]Adeline[/name]-it’s really [name]Madeline[/name] without the “M” and I have never thought of it as "add a line " but if you don’t like the nn then prob should not choose the name. I like [name]Clementine[/name] , but not with [name]Mae[/name]…So, [name]Violet[/name] [name]Mae[/name] wins =)

Hmm…
[name]Violet[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is very nice- short, sweet and I imagine her dressed in purple! I think the name can be anything from demure to spunky and I rather like the nn [name]Vi[/name] as a “call her” nn rather than write it on something nn. Classic, vintage, make me think of me smell of violets. Although it is probably closer to 3 syllables- [name]Vi[/name]-o-let many people will tend to run it into two- [name]Vi[/name]-let, which means she is less likely to pick up a nn.

[name]Adelyn[/name]- I like the [name]Adel[/name] part, I like the ‘yn’ part but somehow not so much together- which is odd because I do like [name]Ashlyn[/name]. I agree the nn [name]Addy[/name] is not as appealing- but as you are saying "ad-lyn’ it is 2 syllable and [name]Add[/name]-y is also 2 syllable- so not any shorter. I prefer the nn [name]Adel[/name] for [name]Adelyn[/name]. All in all [name]Adelyn[/name] is perhaps a little too tomorrows “[name]Taylor[/name]” for me. Not wanting to offend, but each time I go to type [name]Adelyn[/name] I have to go check the spelling you wanted- [name]Addalyn[/name], [name]Adaline[/name], Addeline, [name]Adeline[/name], Adeleine… etc My point being the spelling for this name varies- so she may end up with her name written incorrectly at times.

[name]Clementine[/name]- I like it in theory, but probably wouldn’t use it as it seems like a very long name- which means it may end up shortened. [name]Clem[/name]/ [name]Clemmie[/name]/ [name]Emmie[/name]/ or perhaps [name]Tina[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you like any nns for [name]Clementine[/name]? Yes, I do think of the song, but I also think of the orange colour of a clementine- which is a happy and also supposedly lucky plant. [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Mae[/name] sounds quite vintage, yet it is spunky too. I doubt I would use it myself- if I was going a flower/nature name I would probably choose [name]Magnolia[/name] over [name]Clementine[/name].

Of the three I lean slightly more towards [name]Violet[/name] [name]Mae[/name], then [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Mae[/name] then [name]Adelyn[/name] [name]Mae[/name].

if you dont want those connections to [name]Clementine[/name] as a first name what about. [name]Violet[/name] [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Mae[/name]?

I love the nn [name]Lemon[/name] for [name]Clementine[/name]. Which you may think I’m joking about since another commenter stated that [name]Clementine[/name] was a fruit itself (Is that true? I’ve never heard of a [name]Clementine[/name].), but I’m being totally serious. It’s right there in the name, so I think it’s very adorable. And you obviously love [name]Clementine[/name], so use it.

I love [name]Clementine[/name]. If your heart is telling you to go with [name]Clementine[/name], go with [name]Clementine[/name]. It is a lovely, strong, feminine name full of personality and spunk. [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Mae[/name] sounds fine.
