Hello Berries,
We have a daughter [name]Clementine[/name] and are expecting another girl in just two weeks’ time.
We are having SO much trouble naming this baby! Until very recently we thought we were settled on [name]Isadora[/name] and now, with quite a bit of angst, we are rethinking it. I do love [name]Isadora[/name] and she sounds so much like a sister for [name]Clementine[/name], BUT I am worried about the [name]Dora[/name] the [name]Explorer[/name] connection (am concerned about having to endure years of hearing “d-d-d-d-d-[name]Dora[/name]” etc… many of our friends have young daughters and [name]Dora[/name] is everywhere!!). [name]Nor[/name] do I like the idea of her becoming one of many Izzies/Izzys/Izas due to the popularity of [name]Isabella[/name]. I do quite love the nn [name]Sadie[/name] but my husband doesn’t.
So we are back to the drawing board!
I really like [name]Cordelia[/name] (husband doesn’t however) but, even if I could talk him into it, we don’t really want both girls to have ‘C’ names… although I do seem to love C names in general! I love [name]Clara[/name], [name]Cleo[/name]/[name]Clio[/name]… if I could I would have [name]Clementine[/name] and [name]Clio[/name] in a heartbeat but the repeating ‘Cl…’ sounds a bit ridiculous I think?!
Husband really likes [name]Mathilde[/name] (French form of [name]Matilda[/name]) but I am worried about choosing such an obviously French first name for a non-French baby - i.e. why didn’t we just call her [name]Matilda[/name]?! We do like [name]Matilda[/name] but it is really popular where we are.
Our general style (it seems) is for names that are forgotten and a bit quirky, with a vintage feel… names that are interesting and offbeat but not made-up.
I really want something that stylistically is a match with [name]Clementine[/name] (I want them to sound like sisters) and just as gorgeous.
Please help Berries, we are so stuck!! ![]()
Would love some fresh options to consider…
Thanks in advance!
