This is totally fictional but my current obsession is names like [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], [name_f]Clea[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f] etc.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Clea[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] sound a little unfinished or odd?
Which one do you prefer? I’d pair it with family names [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. I like names that are strong, simple, logically spelled and that I can imagine a 45 y.o. professional as well as a little girl having! I also like names from strong women ([name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f] Lovelace…)

[name_f]Thea[/name_f] has always been one of my all-time favorites. It’s not super common but also not unheard-of. [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] would also go nicely with [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
I adore this particular family of names, especially [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f]. They definitely have a lot going for them—strength and femininity, plus the way they’re all simple and phonetic, but also striking and a bit unusual.
[name_f]Clea[/name_f] does sound a little unfinished to me, but I suspect it’s because I’m so used to [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is fine, very substantial for such a short name!
My favorite thing to do with combos is to take these short names and pair them with a totally wild middle, especially something vowel-heavy. For example, I have [name_f]Ada[/name_f] Célimène and [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] [name_f]Iphigenia[/name_f] on my list.
Of these, I especially love [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], [name_u]Theo[/name_u] (it IS a legit girl’s name with history too!) and [name_f]Tess[/name_f].
These kind of short, sweet, spunky names are very much my style, and I too like them paired with longer, more traditional, more “complete” middles. You may also like:
