Crushing on the name [name]Clio[/name] currently, but unsure on the spelling. I would like to go with [name]Clio[/name] simply because of its roots in Greek mythology. However, whenever I see it, I think of a certain part of the female anatomy (rhymes with [name]Delores[/name]). [name]Will[/name] this be a teasing issue down the road? I like [name]Cleo[/name] because that seems to be how everyone instinctively spells it anyway, but I don’t like the [name]Cleopatra[/name] connection and for me, it seems to lose some of its literary oomph that way. Thoughts? [name]How[/name] would you spell it? [name]Sister[/name]'s name is [name]Phoebe[/name].
I prefer the Greek mythological spelling of [name]Clio[/name] especially with [name]Phoebe[/name]. I’ve never thought about female anatomy when I see this name so I think it’s a bit of a stretch for teasing. I would think [name]Cleo[/name] would get more teasing because of [name]Cleopatra[/name]. I found out last year that there is a car in Europe named [name]Clio[/name] but that doesn’t bother me too much either.
I would always assume it is [name]Cleo[/name] - that’s how I think of the name and that’s how I spell it on my list of faves!
Funny you should post on this though, I just finished commenting on a thread by ‘tree’ who was concerned about using the name in Australia because there is a girl’s magazine called [name]Cleo[/name]; in this case I was agreeing with a pp suggesting to consider the [name]Clio[/name] spelling to get some distance.
I wouldn’t worry about the teasing issue, I think most teasing would come from how a name sounds, not how it is spelt.
I would normally say [name]Cleo[/name] but if the greek mythology in [name]Clio[/name] is what made you love it then go for it. As for the anatomy problem, I think it’s a stretch! I also think [name]Pheobe[/name] and [name]Clio[/name] are great together!!!
A cute name I totally forgot about! I think I like it as [name]Cleo[/name], and think that looks and sounds SO great with [name]Phoebe[/name]! However I think [name]Clio[/name] is great too and I wouldn’t worry too much about the association!
I’d def go for [name]Cleo[/name]. In Michigan, at least, there’s a city called [name]Clio[/name], which is pronounced Cl-EYE-oh. With [name]Cleo[/name], you’d be hard pressed to find someone to screw that up haha
I prefer [name]Cleo[/name], for some reason when I saw [name]Clio[/name] I though it was pronounced clie-oh.
I adore [name]Cleo[/name]!! Use that one! It’s very pretty. Also, I think of exactly the same thing as you do whenever I see ‘[name]Clio[/name]’…
[name]Clio[/name] all the way. I love the association - [name]Clio[/name] is my muse, personally, love her.
If you’re wanting to tie the muse aspect in, how about [name]Cleo[/name] [name]Musette[/name]? ^^
[name]Cleo[/name]. My first thought when I saw [name]Clio[/name] was female anatomy. The spelling is just way too close.
Well, I’m glad I’m not the only one who has had that thought. Thanks for all of your feedback!
I automatically thought of the anatomy part as well. And speaking as a high schooler, there is definite teasing potential once she would get to high school.
