Cleo?

Hi all! Sorry for posting non-stop, but I really, really do love and appreciate your guys’ input and feedback. I’ve been looking through all of the forums and lists on the site, trying to see all of my options before actually deciding on names for the babies! I recently found Cleo, and I have fallen in love with the name. Do you think if I named my daughter Cleo, would she constantly be hearing Cleopatra references? And do you guys think that the name would match with her siblings? Can Cleo stand alone? If not, what could it potentially be short for? Let me know what you all think!

Edit: Thanks geeknamezyo for reminding me to post our other children’s names!
Matthew, Michael, Kylie, and Christopher are my step-children, and my four girls are Lucy, Catherine, Avery, and Grace.

I absolutely adore [name]Cleo[/name]–it was one of the things I wanted to change my name to, back in the day, and has stayed on my list forever. You haven’t posted your other kids’/stepkids’ names in this thread, but having gone back and looked at your previous posts, I’d say no, it doesn’t match with the others (except possibly [name]Avery[/name].) However, that doesn’t matter in the real world as much as those of us on this site make it seem to matter, especially in such a big, blended family with so many different names already.

I love it!!

It’s not really my style, and it sounds a bit awkward in my opinion, but if you love it then it’s definitely usable

If I remember [name]Avery[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] are your children with your SO, yes I think [name]Cleo[/name] works.
I have [name]Cleo[/name] on my list but C and K names are a bit if an issue so will likely not use it.
[name]Clio[/name] is pronounced the same.
It could be short for Clothhilde, and her variations.
[name]Clo[/name], short for [name]Clover[/name] is a similar option?

My name’s [name]Chloe[/name], and you can’t even imagine how many times I get called [name]Cleo[/name], especially by older adults (I’m assuming they’re more familiar with [name]Cleo[/name] than [name]Chloe[/name]). Sometimes I actually wish my name were [name]Cleo[/name] because it’s still so chic yet far less popular. I love it!

Aw I absolutely love [name]Chloe[/name] as well! I think it’s such a beautiful name! Thanks for your input!

Part of me does want the name to ‘match’ with the others, but I do love the name so it makes me question how important that is! Of course I’m still continuing my search, and hope to find ‘the name’ soon! Thanks for your advice!

Actually, I really don’t like it. It makes me think of cats, for some reason (I truly have no idea why), and with the alternate spelling [name]Clio[/name] being only one letter away from something you REALLY don’t what your daughter being called, I’ve just developed a profound distaste for it.

I don’t mind it as a nickname for something like [name]Cleopatra[/name], but as a name in itself I’m not a big fan. Aside from my somewhat unreasonable distaste for it, though, it is certainly usable.

I love [name]Cleo[/name], but it has a different vibe than your other children’s names.

What about [name]Simone[/name]? I feel like it has a similar vibe, but I could be totally way off in thinking that.

I really love [name]Cleo[/name]! It’s short and sweet but still unexpected - for me it’s the perfect kind of girls name. I’m not into nicknames as given names but I do believe [name]Cleo[/name] hold up on its own and I’d use it as a standalone name in a heartbeat if my husband liked it. In terms of it matching with your other children’s names, if that’s a very important issue for you, then maybe [name]Cleo[/name] is not the right choice :frowning: Having already mentioned you like [name]Chloe[/name], I find that to be a more of a classic and a beautiful fit with the names of your daughters.
