Clover

[name]Hi[/name] everyone! Can I get an opinion on [name]Clover[/name]? I really like it and DH loves it (no baby on the way but we have been doing some serious name talk recently). However I’m hearing mixed things…mostly that [name]Clover[/name] seems rather bovine. Or like a dog/rabbit/cat name. This is not my association with it at all, nor DH’s, but I want to get a wider consensus. An acquaintance of mine recently named her baby [name]Clover[/name] and it is perfect for their family and seems very normal to me because of them. But maybe it is actually really too associated with animals? Coincidentally I also had a childhood hamster I named [name]Clover[/name]…but she ended up with about 4 other names and nicknames in her short life span because I was a name nerd from birth and couldn’t resist. Still, it’s a little weird to think about a daughter sharing her name with my first pet. (And [name]Clover[/name] the hamster was not a particularly nice pet…she bit me all the time.)

[name]One[/name] of my top names for sure. I tried on numerous occasions to convince SO about this one to no avail. [name]One[/name] of my best friends said it was too ‘My [name]Little[/name] Pony’, and I remembered that I indeed owned that very pony 20 years ago!
I still love it. I may use it on a future pet at this point.
I think it’ll become more acceptable over time. For now, it’s still a bit on the ‘hipster’ or ‘out-there’ scale to most.

It’s cute and I can see it being used these days, but I personally prefer [name]Clove[/name], even though that might be too Hunger Games at the moment.

I like [name]Clover[/name]. It is still on the ‘hipster’ side of things, but I also thinks it makes a nice alternative to the overly popular [name]Chloe[/name].

The mayor of the major city we live very near is a [name]Clover[/name]. Some people locally dislike it for political associations but I’ve never heard bitching about the name itself. I like it. It’s a nice botanical [name]Chloe[/name] alternative. And I like the [name]Esther[/name]/[name]Briar[/name]/[name]Vesper[/name] sort of names that end in an r but aren’t occupational.

And as the wife of a man who is fond of [name]Erin[/name], [name]Clare[/name], and [name]Saoirse[/name], I could see [name]Clover[/name] being used as a bit of a salute (not a classic choice but a reference) for those of Irish heritage.

I’m not a fan. Sorry, but [name]Clover[/name] is still out in the field chomping on grass with Ermintrude, [name]Marigold[/name] and [name]Daisy[/name]. It’s also a brand name over here which makes it unusable. [name]IMO[/name], it’s a pet name or middle name only

BFF used it as her daughter’s middle name. I think it’s cute, but maybe too cute to be a first name for a human. Can you imagine an adult named [name]Clover[/name]? It would be a really great name for a bunny, though! (I have a pet rabbit - I’m bunny-obsessed.)

I think it has that association for some, but [name]Elsie[/name], [name]Cleo[/name], [name]Felix[/name], [name]Daisy[/name], [name]Max[/name], even [name]Chloe[/name] & [name]Ellie[/name] could be heavily associated with various animals and people manage to wear them happily as well.

I think [name]Clover[/name] is cute, maybe a little too cute for my tastes, but not bad. It could always be a nickname for [name]Chloe[/name], [name]Claudia[/name], [name]Claudie[/name], ect if you don’t feel certain. Or something like [name]Anna[/name] [name]Clover[/name] who is mostly called [name]Clover[/name]?

I think it’s going to be more popular now that there’s the Hunger Games character [name]Clove[/name]. Personally, I love the name, but I can’t see it on a grown woman, say on a job application. I guess I’d have to put it in a middle names only category, but if you love the name and can make it work for you, then go for it!

I’ve liked [name]Clover[/name] since I read the ‘What [name]Katy[/name] Did’ books when I was little. She was always my favourite sister because she was clever and prim and sensible, like me  I’d use it.

That was an odd sibset now that I think about it:

[name]Katherine[/name] ([name]Katy[/name]), [name]Clover[/name], [name]Elsie[/name], [name]Theodore[/name] ([name]Dorry[/name]), [name]Joanna[/name] ([name]Johnnie[/name]) and [name]Philip[/name] ([name]Phil[/name]).

I love [name]Clover[/name] and I’ve never associated it with animals. I put it in the same category as the other quirky nature names that our grandmothers’ or great grandmothers’ time like [name]Birdie[/name], [name]Ginger[/name], [name]Pearl[/name], and [name]Olive[/name]. Others are back in style so why not [name]Clover[/name]?

I like [name]Cloey[/name]/[name]Chloe[/name] as a nn
