I prefer [name_u]Oakley[/name_u].
In case you aren’t aware, [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] is a controversial name on Nameberry as some people consider it offensive on religious grounds.
I prefer [name_m]Cohen[/name_m], but I don’t recommend using it unless you are Jewish.
I prefer [name_m]Cohen[/name_m], but I would change the spelling to avoid controversy.
I prefer [name_m]Cohen[/name_m]. [name_m]Coen[/name_m] is a cute variation.
Tough! Two very different names. I do like [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] and the alternative spellings, but I would not choose a name that is clearly offensive.
Perhaps it’s because of the -ley ending, but [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] seems a bit feminine. There is nothing wrong with that. I do like that the nature association with it.
For those reasons, I did not vote. If I were forced to choose I would choose [name_u]Oakley[/name_u].
I wouldn’t ever go with [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] myself since it’s quite controversial. [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] is a cool name, I chose that.
I prefer [name_m]Cohen[/name_m], and know it’s controversial but I am not religious and only personally know 2 Jewish people in my city of 250,000. I wouldn’t use it just because it doesn’t flow with my ln, but I personally would still use it if it were my top name.
Depending on where you live you’d be able to use it without issue.
EDIT: I went to school with a boy named Chris Pope, and he always went by Pope. There are also people with the last name Cohen who go by that. I know through mutual friends 2 toddlers named Cohen and have never heard of them having issues.
[name_u]Oakley[/name_u]. I wouldn’t use [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] unless you are Jewish.
Thank-you very much for your input everyone. I was not aware it was so controversial. I just am really in love with [name_m]Lennard[/name_m] [name_m]Cohen[/name_m]'s music/poetry and liked the fact that [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] incorporated his name as was a bit unique. Feeling a bit overwhelmed as [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] was our top choice and I am having a hard time thinking of alternatives (I like [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] - but not as much).
Not a fan of the spelling Cowen (I keep thinking Cow)
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you know any other variations - I am aware of [name_m]Coen[/name_m]…
Thanks so much!
[name_u]Oakley[/name_u]! Nn [name_u]Oak[/name_u] is adorable…
You could do [name_m]Koen[/name_m], but it might be confused with [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] anyway (Koen - Baby Name Meaning, Origin, and Popularity | Nameberry). I do like [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] too. If you were looking to somehow use [name_m]Lennard[/name_m] [name_m]Cohen[/name_m]'s name, perhaps you could consider [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] as a more modern twist on [name_m]Lennard[/name_m].
I think I speak for almost everyone when I say we really, really appreciate you hearing us out about [name_m]Cohen[/name_m].
[name_u]Connolly[/name_u]
[name_m]Casper[/name_m]
[name_m]Nolan[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
[name_m]Leonard[/name_m]
[name_m]Leonardo[/name_m]
Honestly, I don’t really Iike either. I really like the suggestions of [name_m]Casper[/name_m], [name_u]Lennon[/name_u], [name_m]Nolan[/name_m], and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u].
What about [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] [name_m]Lennard[/name_m]? That way you can honour the singer still. Or [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] [name_m]Leon[/name_m] (Means lion just like [name_m]Lennard[/name_m])? Or [name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_u]Oakley[/name_u]
I like the suggestion of [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] to [name_f]Honor[/name_f] [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] [name_m]Cohen[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m] could also work as a variation of [name_m]Leonard[/name_m].
I’m not a huge fan of [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] because it reminds me too much of the sunglasses. Some other names with a similar sound:
[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m]
[name_m]Brody[/name_m]
[name_m]Calloway[/name_m]
[name_m]Callum[/name_m]
[name_m]Conan[/name_m]
[name_m]Donovan[/name_m]
[name_m]Eamon[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Soren[/name_m]
I prefer [name_u]Oakley[/name_u]!
I vote neither. I dislike names that remind me of designer brands - [name_u]Oakley[/name_u], [name_f]Tiffany[/name_f], Remmington, ect. It seems like they sound dated fast. I like the name [name_m]Cohen[/name_m], but as others have brought up, it can be viewed as offensive. Maybe think about [name_m]Coen[/name_m]? [name_m]Conan[/name_m]? [name_u]Rowen[/name_u]? [name_u]Owen[/name_u]? [name_m]Leo[/name_m]? [name_m]Leon[/name_m]? [name_m]Leonard[/name_m] [name_m]Cohen[/name_m]'s middle name was [name_m]Norman[/name_m], so maybe [name_m]Norman[/name_m]?
They are both great names! I prefer [name_u]Oakley[/name_u]. I love this name!
