We are due with baby boy #2 in a few months and I’m getting anxious to find a name! My husband really likes [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] and, on its own, I do too. What I’m hesitant about is that our first is [name_m]Colin[/name_m] and I can’t decide if they sound too much like each other. Ideally, they’d have completely different endings!
Thoughts? If not [name_u]Tobin[/name_u], any other ideas to go with [name_m]Colin[/name_m]? Other names we like include [name_u]Evan[/name_u], [name_m]Roman[/name_m] and [name_m]Raymond[/name_m], but none of them feel quite right.
I see the similarities, but I don’t think [name_m]Colin[/name_m] and [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] are necessarily too similar, especially if you call him [name_u]Toby[/name_u]. [name_m]Colin[/name_m] and [name_u]Toby[/name_u] are sweet together! [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] would also make a nice middle name if you don’t have something already planned for the middle spot.
More ideas in the vein of [name_u]Evan[/name_u], [name_m]Roman[/name_m], and [name_m]Raymond[/name_m]:
I like [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] for you -i think the beginnings are different enough that they work.
[name_u]Evan[/name_u] is another great choice!
I’d also suggest
[name_m]Ross[/name_m]
[name_m]Russell[/name_m]
[name_m]Marvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_u]Dean[/name_u]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
I know a [name_m]Collin[/name_m] (around age 10 or so) who has brothers [name_m]Nathan[/name_m], [name_m]Gavin[/name_m] and [name_u]Dylan[/name_u]. These names all have 2 syllables and the same sound at the end, and I don’t think anyone has ever thought they’re too similar so while I understand not wanting to go for that personally, I think if you really like the name [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] it goes just fine with [name_m]Colin[/name_m]. I think it helps a lot that the first letters and the sound of the o’s are different.
I feel that [name_m]Colin[/name_m] and [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] are very similar. I second the suggestions of [name_u]Toby[/name_u] or [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]. I love [name_m]Raymond[/name_m]!
