Coloma?

What are your thoughts on Coloma? I’m not sure if my ties to this small, gold rush town in [name_u]California[/name_u] is what appeals to me, or if I actually like this name. It’s not listed on this site, but digging around brings up the Spanish definition of “one who is calm and peaceful” which is a plus in my book.

It seems to be a form of [name_u]Columba[/name_u] which means “dove”. The dove is often used to represent peace, so that might be where the origin you found is from.

It’s OK but I think I prefer [name_u]Columba[/name_u], or [name_f]Paloma[/name_f].

Thanks for your thoughts! [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] also intrigues me… I think it’s mostly my ties to the town tugging at me here. And the possible nickname “[name_f]Goldie[/name_f]” since the town was home to gold miners.

Yes, cool [name_m]Gold[/name_m] [name_m]Rush[/name_m] town in CA.

Unfortunately, this for me summons up an image of over 100 fourth graders camping there with me (an occupational hazard!).

And there is a slight tinge of colon and enema, God, sorry to be such a bummer. I do like [name_f]Columbia[/name_f] and other related names, but Coloma for me is dubious.

[name_u]Leslie[/name_u]

Hahaha – “colon” stood out to me as well. Hearing it from another person helps me to steer away. I’m glad for the honest opinions!

Unfortunately, this is what I noticed too! “[name_m]Colon[/name_m]”. Sorry, but I don’t think this name is a goer… :frowning:

Welp, down the drain it goes, then!

My first thought was “colon”… I dont care for it

Yes unfortunately it was my first thought too. [name_f]Paloma[/name_f] is lovely however! Or [name_f]Cosima[/name_f]?
