Colorado-inspired baby names for a boy and a girl

My family goes back for generations in [name_u]Colorado[/name_u] and I’d like our child to have a name that reflects my CO roots. I’m open to all ideas, from cities to plants to wildlife to popular activities. Extra credit for anything mountain related or specific to [name_u]Eagle[/name_u] County. ([name_m]How[/name_m]'s THAT for a research challenge!?)

Here’s a start:

[name_f]Lark[/name_f] (lark bunting is the state bird)

No cheap beers names, please.

[name_m]Miles[/name_m] - for mile-high
[name_f]Golda[/name_f]/[name_f]Goldie[/name_f]/[name_u]Golden[/name_u] - gold rush
[name_f]Columbine[/name_f] - state flower
Dusk - for the famous sunsets
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f] - purple mountain’s majesty
[name_m]Pike[/name_m] - [name_m]Pike[/name_m]'s [name_m]Peak[/name_m]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] - [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] mountain range
Rampart - Rampart mountain range
[name_m]Park[/name_m] - [name_m]Park[/name_m] mountain range
[name_m]Hart[/name_m] - a stag

[name_u]Denver[/name_u] (this one’s obvious)
[name_m]Vail[/name_m] (or [name_u]Vale[/name_u])
[name_m]Rocky[/name_m] ([name_m]Rocky[/name_m] Mountains)
[name_m]Avon[/name_m] (town)
[name_m]Powell[/name_m] (Mt. [name_m]Powell[/name_m])
Basalt (Basalt Mountain)
[name_m]Ridge[/name_m] (for many different ridges)
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] (Mt. [name_f]Eve[/name_f])
[name_m]Peak[/name_m] (for many different peaks)
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] (Mt. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m])
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] (city)
[name_u]Dillon[/name_u] (town)

I hope these help! [name_u]Colorado[/name_u] has a lot of naming options!

Gypsum or [name_m]Vail[/name_m] would be cool middle names, both [name_u]Eagle[/name_u] County AND nature names. Although I like the spelling [name_u]Vale[/name_u] better. I think that could be so pretty. Or [name_m]Hale[/name_m], for a boy? (Re: Camp [name_m]Hale[/name_m] in [name_u]Eagle[/name_u] County history)
Other [name_u]Colorado[/name_u]-y names might be…
[name_u]Golden[/name_u] …as in the native golden eagle
[name_u]Teal[/name_u] (water bird)
Swift (native bird and also reminds me of the [name_u]Colorado[/name_u] rivers)
[name_f]Scarlet[/name_f] (scarlet [name_f]Gilia[/name_f] wildflower)
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] (the mountain iris wildflower, love this)
Alder (also a pretty CO tree and I like slightly better than [name_u]Aspen[/name_u] just because of that first syllable)
[name_f]Beryl[/name_f] (mineral composing state gemstone)
[name_f]Swan[/name_f] (the bird and the river)
[name_u]Roan[/name_u] (creek)
[name_m]Laramie[/name_m] (river)
[name_f]Vermillion[/name_f] (creek)
Also [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_u]Frost[/name_u] from creeks in [name_u]Eagle[/name_u] County specifically
[name_f]Happy[/name_f] name-hunting! ”

I vote for [name_u]Eagle[/name_u] as a middle name.

Breckenridge - [name_m]Breck[/name_m] or [name_m]Ridge[/name_m]

first of all, my whole family is from [name_u]Colorado[/name_u] and I absolutely love it!! as far as names go, two of my favorite names, [name_u]Peyton[/name_u] and [name_u]Parker[/name_u], are also the names of towns in CO. There are also towns called [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] and [name_u]Dillon[/name_u], which I like, and I love the name Brec, which could be used as a tribute to Breckenridge.

It’s kind of hard to come up with a list of names that are meaningful to someone else…
