It’s so cool to see names like [name]Millicent[/name] (old style) and [name]Elsie[/name] (unusual). I especially love [name]Ada[/name], [name]Aiden[/name] and [name]Larkin[/name].
There seems to be a lot of old names getting revived where I live so its not much of a suprise, but names like [name]Millicent[/name] and [name]Larkin[/name] are fresh and interesting so I was glad to come across them.
'Old-fashioned- type names are really on the rise in Australia, and although I’m not overly keen on many of names in that style, I would much rather see them than the creative-modern types.
[name]Dilys[/name] – Wow, now that’s not one you come across often.
[name]Millicent[/name] – I’ve heard this a few times. I guess [name]Milly[/name] helps it fit in with the modern names.
[name]Peggy[/name]-[name]Mae[/name] – Hyphenation feels very modern, but when using dated names, somehow the irkiness of it disappears…
[name]Elsie[/name] – Came across this, as nickname for [name]Elsa[/name] (brother’s names were [name]Peter[/name] and [name]Tristram[/name]) a few years back, on a five-year-old.
Tayban – No idea what this is; strange.
[name]Cooper[/name] – So common, and I really don’t understand why.
[name]Allegra[/name] – This one’s grown on me a lot over the past years. Getting a lot more common here too.
I adore [name]Samson[/name], can’t get my husband to go for it.
On the girls side, I love [name]Emily[/name], [name]Ada[/name], [name]Niamh[/name], [name]Tatiana[/name], and [name]Megan[/name]. I wouldn’t use [name]Tatiana[/name] myself, nor [name]Megan[/name], but I like all five. [name]Niamh[/name] is one I keep coming back to as a nice little one syllable MN with a bit of pizzaz.
