Recently I have started to love the name Colson but due to the fact it’s so rare (was only given to 120 babies in the US last year and has never been used on more then 3 babies in the UK) and the fact that I only discovered the name as the birth name of rapper Machine [name_m]Gun[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], who I’m a fan of but I worry that the name is too tied to him since I know I had never heard it before but of course he doesn’t go by the name so only fans would know but I’m still unsure.

Whats everyones opinion on Colson? Does it fit in with the rest of my list? Is it too uncommon/ too tied to the celebrity?

I’ve never heard of the rapper and I love unusual names. Plus, its sound is familiar, it reminds me of other, more popular names
It’s not really my style but I dont exactly dislike its sound, it reminds me of [name_m]Colton[/name_m] which you might like
It is a little different from other names on your boys’ list but not too different in my opinion

I don’t love it but I don’t hate it. I think it fits in pretty well with some of the names on your list. It fits with the surname trend that [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], [name_m]Lawson[/name_m], [name_m]Cooper[/name_m], etc. fit into. I think my thing with it is that it doesn’t really stand out for me - it sort of blends together with all of the other -son names for boys that are popular right now and I like some of those a bit more ([name_m]Lawson[/name_m] and [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] are two of my faves from that trend). Definitely not a bad name at all though and he could go by Colson or [name_m]Cole[/name_m] for a nickname if you wanted to use one.

I think it’s fantastic! A nice alternative to the handsome [name_m]Colton[/name_m].

I think it’s nice, I prefer it to [name_m]Colton[/name_m]. I also like the Caulson spelling.

I quite like it, and agree with jtay07 that it blends in well with other more common names.

That being said, I had no idea it was Machine [name_m]Gun[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]'s real name, but I do immediately associate it with Agent Coulson from the Avengers, Agents of Shield, etc.

I am biased but I love the name Colson. It is my oldest son’s name. I had always wondered how rare it was since it was never on any name sites. I love that it is different without being weird, but sounds familiar given the popular surname trend and Agent Coulson from Avengers makes it recognizable too. One thing I have noticed is that people tend to think when we introduce him that his name is [name_m]Colton[/name_m] or occasionally [name_u]Carson[/name_u]. That doesn’t bother me though because we can correct them.

Colson Whitehead is the author who won the National Book Award (US) this year. I think that plus the fact that it blends in with other names make it very usable.

I also think of Colson Whitehead. I think it’s a cool choice!

I think it’s a nice name, I’ve never heard of the singer you’re refering to, so my guess is not many people would make the connection

I’ve never seen avengers or agents of shield so I didn’t know about that connection, thats probably more of a problem then Machine [name_m]Gun[/name_m] [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] since at least I like MGK. I like [name_m]Colton[/name_m], but I like Colson more.

The name it would be replacing on my list is [name_m]Drake[/name_m], which do most people like more?

I actually prefer [name_m]Drake[/name_m]. To me it stands out more than Colson, but I do like both names.

My big worry with [name_m]Drake[/name_m] is it’s very very tied to the rapper, Colson isn’t, I’m a fan of both artists but I don’t want a name that is so connected to a celebrity.
