Combos and suggestions! (Girls)

I’ve been having trouble making combos recently, so would all you wonderful people mind suggesting some middle names for these firsts and other names you think I might like? I tend to go for older, established and common/familiar names with a Hebrew origin/translation. I also love names with great meanings!

[name_f]My[/name_f] current girls list of names giving me trouble:
[name_f]Samira[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]/Lucille
[name_f]Malina[/name_f]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_f]Anais[/name_f]

I think my only rule is no [name_u]Christian[/name_u]/Catholic names. I love the sound of them, but they are very not for me! [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to look at my UC for my top names and general style!

(I know [name_f]Samira[/name_f] is Arabic in origin, there is a Hebrew name very similar to it which makes it fine in my book but if any Muslim/Middle Easterners want to advise against using it please do!)

Some names that came to mind:
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Julianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorraine[/name_f]
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamara[/name_f]
[name_f]Judith[/name_f]
[name_f]Maryam[/name_f]
[name_f]Talia[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]

@Greyblue I love [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] and [name_f]Malina[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]! Thanks!

@Meliorn [name_f]Shamira[/name_f]. According to behind the name, it means guardian/protector in Hebrew. [name_f]Samira[/name_f] is also really close to [name_f]Amira[/name_f], which means treetop in Hebrew.

Those are some lovely names💞I was thinking that [name_f]Samira[/name_f] is a very prominent arabic name. Are you worried that maybe your child could feel that her name has nothing that says about where she comes from or her heritage? Cause i feel like names are idenity and since [name_f]Shamira[/name_f] is really close to [name_f]Samira[/name_f] anways it could help her feel like she belongs more or something. Sorry for my bad english.

Samira would be an honor name (through the initials, which is how my family has always done honor names) so she would have that connection. There’s also a book character with this name that’s very inspiring to me and reminds me of my sister. Hopefully those connections would be enough for a future kid, but it is something I have to think about.

Also [name_f]Shamira[/name_f] has that really prominent h sound and I want to avoid any chance of “Sham” happening to her :joy: so that’s definitely staying a Hebrew name no matter what. I’d use [name_f]Amira[/name_f] as an [name_f]English[/name_f] name but I think that has the same problems as [name_f]Samira[/name_f], maybe more because it’s a better known name?

Btw, your [name_f]English[/name_f] is really good! [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t worry and thanks so much for sharing your opinion!

[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] Annarose (this is a biblical name!)
[name_f]Anais[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]

You have lovely reasons, which i think hopefully will be enough💞And btw you could probably call a [name_f]Shamira[/name_f] for [name_u]Sam[/name_u]. Its not too much of a stretch at all. Both are lovely tho

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you mean [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] is a biblical name?

Annarose is lovely!

I know she’d probably get called [name_u]Sam[/name_u] most of the time but I don’t want bullies to see Sham in her name and call her a total sham  but I’m paranoid and have lots of time until I have kids so maybe I’ll get over that in the future!

Hahaha overthinking at its best💞Jk

Yes

… you realize that the bible didn’t create the “old testament”, right? It’s literally the Jewish Torah translated into [name_f]English[/name_f]. [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] isn’t a bible name.

No I know, but they are names in the bible and generally considered both [name_u]Christian[/name_u] and Jewish names. Bible just means collection of books. I was confused by you saying you didn’t want ‘christian names’ and then putting [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] on your list. I didn’t realise you were trying to make the distinction of Torah names and [name_u]New[/name_u] Testament names.

So would you be open to other names from the Torah?

Yeah.
