Building up a list for number 3. I’ve posted before but we have more of a list now so thought I’d come back for more. We have two (fully-gestated) kids- [name]Roisin[/name] and Emeric.
So here goes…
I love [name]Una[/name] and [name]Iona[/name] with [name]Roisin[/name] and Emeric. [name]Adelaide[/name] doesn’t come close to the uniqueness of your other kids names.
Suggestions: [name]Oona[/name], [name]Ione[/name], [name]Wren[/name], [name]Ena[/name], and [name]Blythe[/name].
[name]Una[/name] – Never felt comfortable with the U- initial, particularly on girls. This may harken back to [name]Ursula[/name] from The [name]Little[/name] Mermaid.
[name]Adelaide[/name] – This is a pretty name, but it seems to common to go with your boys’ very unique names.
[name]Willa[/name] – Still seems a BIT too common, but better. [name]Willa[/name] is very pretty.
[name]Clio[/name] --[name]LOVE[/name], and would be perfect with her brothers’ names.
[name]Lowri[/name] – Is this pronounced LOE-ree or LOW (as in “OW that hurts”) ree? If it’s LOE-ree, it sounds like [name]Lori[/name] with an accent to me.
[name]Iona[/name] – Another great one with your boys’ names. Beautiful.
Suggestions:
Since you like [name]Willa[/name], you may like [name]Rilla[/name] or [name]Cilla[/name].
Since you like [name]Una[/name], you may like [name]Luna[/name].
Since you like [name]Lowri[/name], you may like [name]Lorna[/name].
Others: [name]Brissa[/name], [name]Izetta[/name], [name]Lilibet[/name], [name]Zorah[/name].
Awkward…lol. I should have known that. I think I’ve heard the name [name]Roisin[/name] on here before. My apologies. I really like [name]Roisin[/name], for what it’s worth!
I like [name]Clio[/name] or [name]Iona[/name] best from your list. [name]Una[/name] reminds me of the word ‘uno’, which makes me think ‘first’ or ‘only’, if that makes any sense!
I loveeeee [name]Una[/name], it really stands out and feels unique, so that would be my first pick, [name]Iona[/name] second. I guess the upside to [name]Iona[/name] over [name]Una[/name] is the nickname possibility of [name]Io[/name].
Thanks for the responses- we’ve narrowed it down to a probable [name]Clio[/name], [name]Iona[/name] and the old favourite back on the board, [name]Tabitha[/name]. [name]Una[/name] is probably a no go, purely because [name]Roisin[/name] is associated so strongly with [name]Ireland[/name], and [name]Una[/name] is too. We don’t want to set ourselves up for a themey family really. I didn’t realise how popular [name]Adelaide[/name] had gotten also, till I started doing some research! So that pretty much strikes it off for me. Hmm really tough, because I’m not positive yet that any of these three are right.
Hopefully I will figure it out soon!
[name]Clio[/name] and [name]Iona[/name] would have been my top choices. With either you’re making a European tour-- [name]Ireland[/name], Prussia, and now either [name]Scotland[/name] or Greece.
Thanks blade- I love that idea. Have to say both me and DH have incredibly boring (conventional) heritage- British, British, British. So I love the idea of using names from different places. I think its important, especially as a kid, to feel connected to other pieces of the world/life than your own. My name is pretty ordinary, but I loved tracking it back over history and finding other people with my name; other forms of it etc.
We’re swinging toward [name]Iona[/name] and [name]Tabitha[/name] at the moment, purely put off by the idea of people saying ‘[name]Clio[/name] like the car?’
[name]How[/name] much of an issue does anyone think this would be?
[name]Una[/name] - Pretty, but I do see the [name]Ursula[/name] thing. I’m usually not particularly fond of “U” names.
[name]Adelaide[/name] - I really like this one but I don’t think it goes well with your children’s names.
[name]Willa[/name] - [name]Love[/name]!
[name]Clio[/name] - this used to be a favorite of mine, but I don’t like it much any more.
[name]Lowri[/name] - Reminds me of the author [name]Lois[/name] [name]Lowry[/name], which isn’t a bad association. I’m not a very big fan of the name though, it sounds rather odd for my tastes.
[name]Iona[/name] - I find this a bit blah.
I really love [name]Iona[/name] and even used it for a character in my book. Very nice. I also like [name]Adelaide[/name]. I prefer [name]Willow[/name] to [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Cleopatra[/name] to [name]Clio[/name].
