[name]Claudie[/name] and …
Exotic names:
[name]Adriana[/name] - if I’m honest, I don’t think this one is anywhere near is beautiful as some of your other choices, including [name]Claudie[/name].
[name]Mirabelle[/name]/[name]Mirabella[/name] - frilly, but not too much so. Very sweet, and you could get the nn [name]Mira[/name] from this.
[name]Angelica[/name] - quite nice, but not my favourite, and there aren’t really any great nn options.
[name]Amalia[/name] - I don’t know why, but I just can’t be won over on this one - for some reason [name]Malia[/name]/[name]Amalia[/name]/[name]Thalia[/name] all feel heavy to me, and almost trendy. That really is probably just me, though!
[name]Camille[/name] - a glamorous classic, with the sweet nn option of [name]Millie[/name]/[name]Milla[/name]. It contains the C and L sounds of [name]Claudie[/name], though, so it would be hard to choose a name which didn’t stand out for a third sister.
[name]Giselle[/name] - so glamorous, but also sweet on a child. The nn [name]Gigi[/name] is wonderful, or you could go for the more popular [name]Ella[/name].
[name]Calla[/name] - the lily connection is so lovely, but for me [name]Calla[/name] is too close to popular names such as [name]Callie[/name], [name]Kellie[/name], [name]Carly[/name], [name]Kaylee[/name] et cetera.
[name]Rosalia[/name] - so pretty! What a wonderful sister for a [name]Claudie[/name].
[name]Sarai[/name] - a very nice unusual Biblical choice, but I can’t say it jumps out at me.
[name]Leilani[/name] - a pretty sound. I’m not sure she would make the best sister to [name]Claudie[/name] out of your options, but pretty nonetheless.
[name]Roma[/name] - the association with the [name]Roma[/name] people might make some people uneasy.
[name]Allegra[/name] - lovely.
[name]Valencia[/name] - this one is growing on my the more that I read it. I think she would make a great sister for [name]Claudie[/name]!
[name]Leta[/name] - I am pronouncing this lee-ta, which I think is correct? I quite like it, but I feel like it should be a nn for something long and glamorous.
I actually think that several of your names were in use during the Victorian era in [name]England[/name], and have that vintage feel, despite some of them being French : [name]Adriana[/name], [name]Mirabella[/name]/e, [name]Angelica[/name], [name]Camille[/name], [name]Giselle[/name], [name]Rosalia[/name] and [name]Allegra[/name]. [name]Valencia[/name] wouldn’t feel incongruent with two vintage sisters, either.
Vintage names:
[name]Amabel[/name] - such a nice name, but I am always afraid that it would constantly be misread as [name]Annabel[/name].
[name]Nola[/name] - I love this one! It doesn’t have quite the same feel as some of your other vintage choices, though, but I think she’d make a good sister to [name]Claudie[/name], and maybe using the longer form [name]Finola[/name] would negate that problem anyway.
[name]Penelope[/name] - so lovely. [name]Both[/name] names would end in an -ee sound, but I don’t know whether that bothers you or not.
[name]Mira[/name] - very pretty, and could also be a nn for [name]Mirabelle[/name]/a.
[name]Lena[/name] - a lovely name which conjurs up the [name]Golden[/name] Age of Hollywood and would fit well with a sister [name]Lena[/name], but I prefer some of your other choices.
[name]Anita[/name] - nice, but not stunning, and it doesn’t feel like it quite fits. It’s funny, I would have put this in your exotic section.
[name]Enid[/name] - perfection! [name]Both[/name] names would have strong D sounds, but still, this is wonderful.
[name]Tessa[/name] - again, wonderful.
[name]Brigitte[/name]/[name]Bridget[/name] - for some reason this seems off next to [name]Claudie[/name] - somewhat plainer and harsher, to my ears.
[name]Corinne[/name] - nice, but not my favourite.
[name]Georgette[/name] - the nn [name]Ettie[/name] is so sweet, but for some reason the feminised [name]George[/name] names do nothing to wow me.
[name]Marguerite[/name] - nice, but I prefer some of your other options. Such a pity about the glamorous [name]Margot[/name]!
[name]Sylvie[/name] - the endings are a little matchy with [name]Claudie[/name], which may or may not be a problem for you. [name]Sylvie[/name] is just adorable and beautiful, though.
[name]Una[/name] - again, I adore this one! My comments for [name]Nola[/name] pretty much apply to [name]Una[/name].
I might group sisters as such :
[name]Claudie[/name] and [name]Leta[/name]
[name]Claudie[/name] and [name]Marguerite[/name]
[name]Claudie[/name], [name]Nola[/name] and [name]Una[/name] (but is [name]Claudie[/name] too French next to her Irish sisters?)
[name]Claudie[/name], [name]Allegra[/name] and [name]Valencia[/name]
[name]Claudie[/name], [name]Mirabelle[/name] and [name]Valencia[/name]
[name]Claudie[/name], [name]Giselle[/name] and [name]Rosalia[/name]
[name]Claudie[/name], [name]Amabel[/name] and [name]Enid[/name]
[name]Claudie[/name], [name]Amabel[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name].
[name]Auburn[/name]
Exotic (mostly European sounding) names:
[name]Adriana[/name]: like it!
[name]Mirabelle[/name]/[name]Mirabella[/name]: oo i like!
[name]Angelica[/name]:eh
[name]Amalia[/name]:eh
[name]Camille[/name]:eh
[name]Giselle[/name]:eh
[name]Calla[/name]: eh
[name]Rosalia[/name]:nah
[name]Sarai[/name]: nah
[name]Leilani[/name]: Yes! and this way you could use [name]Lena[/name] as a nn (I’m commenting from bottom to top)
[name]Roma[/name]:nice
[name]Allegra[/name]: nice
[name]Valencia[/name]: not my style
[name]Leta[/name]: eh
Vintage names:
[name]Amabel[/name]: eh
[name]Nola[/name]: I really really like this!
[name]Penelope[/name]: Cute!
[name]Mira[/name]: love this hebrew pick!
[name]Lena[/name] (pronounced [name]Lee[/name]-na like [name]Lena[/name] Horne, not [name]Lay[/name]-na): I like it as a nn for [name]Alayna[/name].
[name]Anita[/name]: I need a go pee?
[name]Enid[/name]: eh
[name]Tessa[/name]: I’m not really a fan
[name]Brigitte[/name]/[name]Bridget[/name]: Pretty!
[name]Corinne[/name]: Would you pronouns co-reen or co-rin. I like it pronounced co-rin! It’s pretty but not my fave.
[name]Georgette[/name]:Reminds me of the poodle from [name]Olier[/name] and Company! I love [name]Georgette[/name]! so much better than [name]Georgina[/name].
[name]Marguerite[/name]: You could use this and nn her [name]Margot[/name]. That way she’ll have the latin sass along with the hipster cool name.
[name]Sylvie[/name]: This is one of my all time favourites! (which is why I used it for one of my girls).
[name]Una[/name]: oooh I kinda like it. Has that special umph to it!

You’re welcome! [name]Camille[/name] reminds me of [name]Camilla[/name] P-B, too (I’m in [name]England[/name]), but it’s a lovely name, so I try not to let that cloud my judgement … for that reason, though, I wouldn’t consider using it myself.
I think [name]Romilly[/name] is stunning! It sounds so lovely and glamorous, just rolls of the tongue and could definitely give the nn [name]Roma[/name] without the risk of possibly being too controversial.
On the matter of [name]Penny[/name] the dog, I don’t think it would be too much of a problem, and the sweet nn [name]Nella[/name] could definitely work! The only people who will make the [name]Penny[/name] the dog connection will be family, and you can just make it clear that you aren’t naming your daughter after the dog!
Ooh, a set of five or six sisters think :
[name]Claudie[/name], [name]Valencia[/name], [name]Mirabelle[/name]/[name]Giselle[/name], [name]Allegra[/name] and [name]Rosalia[/name]/[name]Romilly[/name] - perfection! No initial letter repition, and they all contain an L sound, which is extremely subtle but ties the names together nicely.
I actually think any combination of [name]Claudie[/name], [name]Romilly[/name], [name]Valencia[/name], [name]Allegra[/name], [name]Amabel[/name], [name]Rosalia[/name], [name]Mirabelle[/name]/a and [name]Penelope[/name] would work well, avoiding repitition of -elle/a ending names. [name]Enid[/name] works well with some combinations, too, especially those containing [name]Amabel[/name], in my opinion.
[name]Auburn[/name]
[name]EDIT[/name] : I totally forgot about [name]Tessa[/name] in my earlier post! I love [name]Tessa[/name], and think it would work well with many of the names I listed above. A nice group of sisters containing her would be :
[name]Claudie[/name], [name]Amabel[/name], [name]Tessa[/name], [name]Enid[/name] and [name]Romilly[/name].

My Hubby and I are adopting a baby girl—We found out last week we have been matched, and mom is due in 1 week. Our first name is definately [name]Edyn[/name] (like the garden, but with a y). She will be half hispanic and half [name]African[/name] American, we are stumped! I think we need something classic, but cool–and I think at least 2-3 syllables. Maybe something hispanic??? [name]Isabella[/name], [name]Sophia[/name],…they just seem kind of dull to me…am looking for something different…thanks a bunch…jules

You have great taste - I most definitely look forward to helping you think up some combos!
Now, to address your concerns :
[name]Mirabelle[/name]/[name]Mirabella[/name] - while the -ella and -bella names are very popular at the moment, this is an unusual enough choice that I don’t think it will date a little girl in the future (i.e. I know she must have been born 2005-2015) the same way that [name]Isabella[/name] and [name]Annabel[/name] will. Also, while it is true that sometimes names shoot up, I think you are safe with [name]Mirabelle[/name]/a (unless it is chosen by a celebrity) as it is rare enough that most people won’t think of it. And by rare, I do mean really rare - I checked out www.yournotme.com, which finds out how many people aged over 18 in the UK have a certain name, and there are 30 Mirabelles in the whole of the UK, and 5 Mirabellas. In contrast, there are 881 Saskias and 359,534 Elizabeths. [name]Mirabelle[/name]/a has not entered the top 1000 baby names in [name]America[/name] in the last ten years, either. I like [name]Mira[/name], too, and think it makes a great nn for [name]Mirabelle[/name]/a, but agree with you that [name]Mira[/name] [name]Morgan[/name] doesn’t have the best sound.
[name]Giselle[/name] - I think of the ballet and the [name]Giselle[/name] I know, and then I think of the supermodel, but I think you’ll need to canvas more opinions on this. I must add that I don’t think the celebrity connection detracts from the beauty of the name, especially as said celebrity hasn’t, as far as I know, ever done anything wild or bad or even very bizarre.
[name]Rosalia[/name] - as your last name is firmly British, I don’t think people will be thrown when your little girl isn’t Spanish. As I said to the lady who is considering [name]Fiorella[/name], using a lovely foreign name is made really easy if there is a familiar sound in it - in her case [name]Ella[/name], in your case [name]Rose[/name]. Also, it reminds me quite a lot of the originally Italian [name]Cosima[/name], which has been a staple of the British upper class for centuries now, and seems to be in vogue among the middle classes at the moment, too, and noone ever seems to have a problem with [name]Cosima[/name].
[name]Allegra[/name] - it’s funny, I’ve never thought of this one as harsh (I find names like [name]Brianna[/name] and [name]Bridget[/name], and generally AY and BR sounds harsh). I think the GR sound is balanced completely by the oh-so-soft As and Ls of the beginning. I know an [name]Allegra[/name], and while we do occasionally nn her Leggie (which doesn’t seem weird when we do it, and I’ve never heard anybody do it spitefully or teasingly), I’ve never heard anyone express dislike of her name.
[name]Valencia[/name] - [name]Both[/name] could work. Also, often children acquire nicknames unrelated to their real name naturally, so I wouldn’t worry too much. Additionally, I know several people who are just always known by their full name, and noone (apart from sometimes supply teachers) every try to shorten their name because, for example, they just are [name]Elizabeth[/name], not [name]Beth[/name]. [name]Even[/name] I, who obsessively nickname, have some close friends who I always call by their full name.
[name]Amabel[/name] - I like [name]Mabel[/name] (I think it’s sweet)! Truthfully, my only concern about such a soft, pretty, relaxed name is the fact that someone with bad eyesight, or who’s not paying all that much attention, will skim over it and see ‘[name]Annabel[/name]’. Once corrected, though, I think that people will easily accept it and remember, as it has so many familiar sounds.
[name]Nola[/name] - an Auntie Noleen does complicate things a bit … if it bothers you that their names would be similar, then I’d relegate it to second place, but if you like her and don’t think it will be confusing (which it shouldn’t be, as people probably won’t get a little baby mixed up with an adult aunt - the danger comes with cousins of the same age named [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Emily[/name]), then I personally wouldn’t worry about it.
[name]Mira[/name] - I think [name]Mira[/name] is so pretty - as I mentioned above, my only concern is that [name]Mira[/name] [name]Morgan[/name] doesn’t sound great. It’s bearable, of course, but not ideal, so if you have other names that you love as much I’d use this as a deciding factor to perhaps rule [name]Just[/name] [name]Mira[/name] out (at least as a first name).
[name]Lena[/name] - I automatically said [name]LEE[/name]-na, which is how I would always have pronounced names spelt as such. However, I have discovered on here that Americans often pronounce names such as [name]Elena[/name] eh-[name]LAY[/name]-nuh, and I don’t know how much that pronunciation has crossed the Atlantic. Again, you’ll need more opinions on this one - sorry!
[name]Enid[/name] - what a lovely meaning! I don’t think it is too much of an old lady name, no. Perhaps not [name]Enid[/name], but other names of that ilk ([name]Beatrix[/name], [name]Cordelia[/name]) which were previously old lady names are coming back into vogue, and it has a similar sound to the fairly popular [name]Erin[/name]. Plus, some of the people I know who wear their name best have names others would call very old lady names!
Rambling is perfectly welcome. I know, I often find that suddenly the Americans will all start posting at a seemingly very odd time! (I’m not totally sure of the time difference).
[name]Auburn[/name]
Exotic (mostly European sounding) names:
[name]Adriana[/name]-I like spelled [name]Adrianna[/name]. This name is just alright [name]IMO[/name]. Doesn’t age well.
[name]Mirabelle[/name]-cute name. I am not a [name]Belle[/name] person really dislike but this is the only bell name I find pretty. Ages well, unique.
[name]Angelica[/name]-Reminds me of that show rugrats. I like [name]Angelic[/name]/[name]Angelique[/name], [name]Angela[/name], [name]Angelina[/name]
[name]Amalia[/name]-[name]Amelia[/name]. this looks misspelled and I actually think its Jewish.
[name]Giselle[/name]-Oh please no! [name]Don[/name]'t get me started on this name. I don’t find it appealing its a bird does not age well. I would be embarresed to have this name.
[name]Calla[/name]-pretty, different nn [name]Callie[/name] means beautiful
[name]Rosalia[/name]/[name]Rosalie[/name]-both very pretty. NN [name]Rose[/name] is stunning.
[name]Allegra[/name]-I think its cute
[name]Romilly[/name]-nah
[name]Valencia[/name]-[name]Valorie[/name]?
Vintage names:
[name]Amabel[/name]-um not sure what to make off this because I’ve never seen or heard it.
[name]Nola[/name]-OMG love, love, love:) So sweet, cute, unqiue, classic, and ages wonderfully
[name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Nell[/name]/[name]Nella[/name]-I prefer just [name]Penny[/name]. [name]Penelope[/name] reminds me of that pig movie and I just don’t find it appealing for anybody.
[name]Mira[/name]-cute definatly.
[name]Lena[/name] (pronounced [name]Lee[/name]-na like [name]Lena[/name] Horne, not [name]Lay[/name]-na)_It would be said wrong all the time.
[name]Enid[/name]-[name]How[/name] do you say it?
[name]Tessa[/name]/[name]Tess[/name]-[name]Tessa[/name] nn [name]Tess[/name] cute.
[name]Bridget[/name]-love so cute. I would use but I have bad memories of a imature girl in school.
[name]Georgette[/name]-cute:)
[name]Ona[/name]-I like. [name]Just[/name] make sure you have a “normal” last name. I went to school with an [name]Ona[/name] Gross and she had bad teading. [name]Ona[/name] Gross _____ fill in the blank.
I can definitely relate to you wanting to get ideas for sib sets before committing to a name! I am in the same boat. Some thoughts:
Exotic (mostly European sounding) names:
[name]Adriana[/name]-- pretty, but sounds a bit heavy to me
[name]Mirabelle[/name]/[name]Mirabella[/name]-- a bit frilly for my tastes, but pretty
[name]Angelica[/name]-- not crazy about this one, maybe because I dislike [name]Angela[/name]/[name]Angie[/name]…
[name]Amalia[/name]-- lovely, very sophisticated. Sounds great with [name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Giselle[/name]-- I’ve never been a big fan of this personally, maybe because the 'giz" sounds a little strange to me?
[name]Calla[/name]-- pretty and simple, cute with [name]Claudie[/name]!
[name]Rosalia[/name]/[name]Rosalie[/name]-- really like both! I think [name]Rosalia[/name] would be adorable on a little Welsh girl, not out of place
[name]Allegra[/name]-- like! in the US I may have slight concerns about association w/ the allergy medicine, but not a problem if you’re in the UK. However, is there a Vauxhall car called [name]Allegra[/name]?
[name]Romilly[/name]-- love! [name]Romy[/name] doesn’t sound great with [name]Morgan[/name], but [name]Romilly[/name] does!
[name]Valencia[/name]-- sounds beautiful, but I associate it strongly with Spain and oranges (not bad associations, but strong ones)
Favorites: [name]Romilly[/name], [name]Amalia[/name], [name]Rosalia[/name]
Vintage names:
[name]Amabel[/name]-- I don’t tend to like -bel/belle names, but this one is cute
[name]Nola[/name]-- cute, goes well with [name]Claudie[/name] and [name]Morgan[/name]. I don’t think this would be strange with an aunt Noleen
[name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Nell[/name]/[name]Nella[/name]-- great name! I wouldn’t worry too much about the dog’s name being [name]Penny[/name] (and it sounds like the dog may not be around for too long, sorry if that’s rude
[name]Mira[/name]-- pretty, but I agree that it’s not great with [name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Lena[/name] (pronounced [name]Lee[/name]-na like [name]Lena[/name] Horne, not [name]Lay[/name]-na)-- pretty, similar style to [name]Claudie[/name]. I would pronounce it [name]Lee[/name]-na (i’m American)
[name]Enid[/name]-- the sound of this name is not the most pleasing to my ear (though maybe my pronunciation is wrong: EE-nid? IN-id would be much prettier.) I do see the quirky charm, though…
[name]Tessa[/name]/[name]Tess[/name]-- lovely, and another great style match for [name]Claudie[/name]! I think I prefer [name]Tessa[/name] with [name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Brigitte[/name]/[name]Bridget[/name]-- not my favorite, but cute
[name]Georgette[/name]-- this sounds very French to me, and pairing this with [name]Claudie[/name] would really bring out the ‘ooh-la-la’ of both, I think!
[name]Una[/name]/[name]Oona[/name]-- another cute one that goes really well with [name]Claudie[/name]. I prefer [name]Una[/name]; [name]Oona[/name] looks a little strange to me. Wait, maybe I’m being crazy, but does [name]Una[/name] [name]Morgan[/name] sound like it could be a Swedish or [name]German[/name] phrase? That’s probably just me…
Favorites: [name]Lena[/name], [name]Tessa[/name], [name]Penelope[/name]
Overall I think [name]Tessa[/name] sounds so perfect with [name]Claudie[/name] and [name]Morgan[/name]. [name]Penelope[/name] is just a great classic/vintage name, and [name]Amalia[/name] is beautiful and fresh. I think one of those three would be perfect, but your list is full of great names. Good luck!
