Compiling list of names for potential baby girl :)

I just found out that I am pregnant and I am becoming obsessed with finding the perfect name…which I am sure most people are. We have already picked out a boy name–so now I am focusing some energy on having a girls name ready… here is my list. Please feel free to offer suggestions or name combos. Also, the baby will have a Spanish last name and I am open to Spanish names.

Thnx

Names I adore:
[name]Olive[/name] ([name]Olivia[/name])

[name]Luca[/name] - I can see where you’re going with this, but unfortunately, I don’t think [name]Luca[/name] works for a girl since it’s so clearly a boy’s name (others will disagree, but since your list on the whole tends toward feminine names, using a boy’s name would make it difficult if/when you have another girl down the line). I think [name]Lucia[/name] would be a much better option for you.

[name]Lucy[/name] - This is a wonderful name, though I prefer it as a nickname for [name]Lucille[/name], [name]Lucia[/name], or [name]Lucinda[/name] ([name]Lucia[/name] is probably my favorite of the three, especially with a Spanish last name).

[name]Sofia[/name] - This is beautiful, but you may be bothered by the overwhelming popularity.

[name]Adelle[/name]- I really like this, though I think I prefer it spelled [name]Adele[/name].

[name]Olivia[/name] - Like [name]Sophia[/name], a very beautiful name that is unfortunately ridiculously popular right now. Of course it depends on where you live and how much popularity bothers you. Where I live, I feel like every other child I meet is either [name]Olivia[/name] or [name]Sophia[/name] and it’s enough to deter me from using either name.

[name]Cleo[/name]/[name]Clio[/name] - This is not as soft as the other names on your list; to me, it’s just a little bit abrupt, as if it should be short for something. Not my favorite.

[name]Juliet[/name]/[name]Juliette[/name] - This is a wonderful name. I prefer the [name]Juliet[/name] spelling; I think if I were you I would strongly consider this as a middle name to buffer a softer sounding name upfront. I wonder if you also like [name]Julia[/name] or [name]Juliana[/name]? I think either would make a beautiful first name!

[name]Amelia[/name] - This is one of my favorites! You also might like [name]Cecilia[/name] or [name]Ophelia[/name], which are equally beautiful but take you out of the realm of names that sound like [name]Emily[/name] and are overly popular. [name]Amelia[/name] is different enough from [name]Emily[/name], though, that if you love it, you should definitely go for it.

[name]Alijah[/name] - I’m not sure if you mean this to be pronounced like [name]Aliyah[/name] or like the boy’s name [name]Elijah[/name]. If the former, I think it’s pretty, but it’s not my favorite in your list. If the latter, then I dislike how masculine it sounds, but you might like [name]Eliza[/name], which has a similar sound but is decidedly feminine.

[name]Amelie[/name] - pretty, but I prefer [name]Amelia[/name].

[name]Jada[/name] - this seems insubstantial next to some of your other choices.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Clio[/name] and the history behind it.

Other names that I adore:

Good [name]Luck[/name]!!!

I love the names on your list! Particularly [name]Adele[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Olive[/name]. I quite like Spanish names as well. Here’s some names you might like:

hope that helps!

Congratulations!

[name]Luca[/name]- This name feels distinctly masculine to me even though it’s beginning to turn unisex. I also feel like it pales in comparison to your other names because they’re much more feminine. I if I heard a sibset of [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Luca[/name], for example, I would assume that [name]Luca[/name] was a boy. I love the previous suggestion of [name]Lucia[/name].

[name]Lucy[/name]- [name]Lucy[/name] is darling! It’s one of my favorites on your list.

[name]Sofia[/name]- [name]Sofia[/name] is beautiful but very popular. It reminds me of [name]Seraphina[/name] or [name]Sophronia[/name], which can easily get the [name]Sophie[/name] nickname.

[name]Adelle[/name]- I prefer it spelled [name]Adele[/name]. [name]Adele[/name] is very pretty. It reminds me of [name]Adelaide[/name].

[name]Olive[/name] ([name]Olivia[/name])- I’ve never understood exactly why people like [name]Olive[/name]. I understand it’s unexpected quirkiness and it does have a certain degree of vintage going for it but I doubt I could take seriously a woman named [name]Olive[/name]. It’s a cute enough nickname for [name]Olivia[/name], though my personally favorite is [name]Liv[/name]. Unfortunately [name]Olivia[/name] is also very popular.

[name]Cleo[/name]/[name]Clio[/name]- [name]Cleo[/name] has always felt incomplete to me. I prefer [name]Chloe[/name], despite it’s popularity. I also like [name]Callista[/name] and [name]Calliope[/name], which reminds me of [name]Cleo[/name].

[name]Juliet[/name]/[name]Juliette[/name]- [name]Juliet[/name] is absolutely beautiful and one of my top names! It’s feminine but strong, has a spunky but gentle quality to it and flows well with many middle names!

[name]Amelia[/name]- [name]Amelia[/name] is very cute! It’s growing in popularity though…

[name]Alijah[/name]- I’m not a big fan of uniquely spelled names. [name]Elijah[/name] is wonderful for a boy but I’m not a big fan of it for a girl. What about [name]Alison[/name], [name]Alexandra[/name] or [name]Eliana[/name]?

[name]Amelie[/name]- Very pretty. I think I prefer [name]Amelia[/name] but [name]Amelie[/name] is sweeter and lighter.

[name]Jada[/name]- I prefer [name]Jada[/name] spelled [name]Giada[/name], which is the correct Italian way. It’s pretty but doesn’t really stand out for me.

My favorite is [name]Juliet[/name], followed by [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Adele[/name].

What about:

[name]Miriam[/name] nn [name]Miri[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Sophie[/name]/[name]Josie[/name]/[name]Jo[/name]

Good luck!

[name]Luca[/name]: My son’s name, so definitely a boy’s name to me
[name]Lucy[/name]: Really cute! I would use it as a nn but I think it can stand alone as well.
[name]Sofia[/name]: [name]Love[/name] [name]Sofia[/name], even though it’s quite popular.
[name]Adelle[/name]: Wonderful, underused name (prefer the [name]Adele[/name] spelling)
[name]Olive[/name] ([name]Olivia[/name]): I’m an adult [name]Olivia[/name], and while I’ve mostly loved my name throughout my life, even I’m growing tired of hearing it! [name]Olive[/name] is a great alternative. I think beautiful [name]Lydia[/name] has a very similar sound as well.
[name]Cleo[/name] / [name]Clio[/name]: [name]Lovely[/name]! A fresh alternative to [name]Chloe[/name].
[name]Juliet[/name]/[name]Juliette[/name]: [name]Love[/name] [name]Juliet[/name].
[name]Amelia[/name]: I prefer [name]Adelia[/name] but think [name]Amelia[/name] is great too.
[name]Alijah[/name]: Seems out of place on your list! Definitely like many of your other choices more.
[name]Amelie[/name]: Sweet little name”I’d pick this over [name]Amelia[/name] (but I’m a little obsessed w/ French names for girls at the moment!)
[name]Jada[/name]: Not my favorite from your list.

[name]Luca[/name]: This is a boy’s name.

[name]Lucy[/name]: I like it. What about [name]Lucia[/name]?

[name]Sofia[/name]: It’s really pretty, but too popular for me.

[name]Adelle[/name]: I MUCH prefer [name]Adele[/name]. [name]Lovely[/name] name!

[name]Olive[/name] ([name]Olivia[/name]): I prefer [name]Olivia[/name] to [name]Olive[/name], even though it’s so popular. What about [name]Livia[/name]?

[name]Cleo[/name]/[name]Clio[/name]: I love [name]Clio[/name]!!

[name]Juliet[/name]/[name]Juliette[/name]: One of my favorite names!! I can’t decide which spelling I like better…

[name]Amelia[/name]: I love [name]Amelia[/name], except it’s becoming more popular.

[name]Alijah[/name]: What is this supposed to be??

[name]Amelie[/name]: Beautiful!

[name]Jada[/name]: Seems made-up, and not very classy…

[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Clio[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Adele[/name] [name]Sofia[/name]
[name]Adele[/name] [name]Amelie[/name]
[name]Clio[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Clio[/name] [name]Sofia[/name]

Thanks so much for the responses…the suggestions…and your opinions !

I love [name]Sofia[/name] and [name]Olivia[/name] nn [name]Olive[/name], but due to the popularity I am leaning away from them.

I do love [name]Adelle[/name]/ [name]Adele[/name] and it is a family name so it definitely high on my list.

Also, I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Livia[/name] nn [name]Liv[/name]…but I talked it over and the other half doesn’t like anything with a V… :frowning: have to let it go … maybe I can change his mind … we have some time …

So far, [name]Juliet[/name]/[name]Juliette[/name], [name]Adelle[/name]/[name]Adele[/name], and [name]Lucy[/name] are the ones that we agree on…but I am still searching. There are so many amazing names out there!

Is the baby going to have Spanish grandparents? If so they can use the Spanish variant, or you can make the Spanish variant the official name.

[name]Sylvia[/name] - I think with the nn [name]Sylvie[/name] it has all the charm of [name]Sophia[/name]/[name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]/[name]Susana[/name]. Someone suggested the nn [name]Sunny[/name] which I think is adorable.

[name]Luca[/name] - boys name
[name]Lucy[/name] - also like lucia more
[name]Sofia[/name]- NO NO NO it’s so popular there will be 5 other sofias in your daughters class
[name]Adelle[/name]- adele better
[name]Olive[/name] ([name]Olivia[/name]) - love olive
[name]Cleo[/name]/[name]Clio[/name]- very nice like [name]Cleo[/name] spelling better
[name]Juliet[/name]/[name]Juliette[/name]- [name]Juliette[/name] better
[name]Amelia[/name]- like
[name]Alijah[/name]- what???
[name]Amelie[/name]- cute very cute works well in spanish
[name]Jada[/name]- Half my family is mexican and i purposely did not use a J name since J is pronounced “HA” is spanish. so [name]Jada[/name] would be HA-da. not nice

[name]Luca[/name]: It’s a boys’ name to me, but I can see the appeal on a girl.

[name]Lucy[/name]: I love [name]Lucy[/name]! You may also like [name]Lucia[/name].

[name]Sofia[/name]: I think it’s beautiful. It’s also very popular, so if that’s an issue for you, it may not be your best bet.

[name]Adelle[/name]: I love it! [name]Adeline[/name], [name]Adelia[/name], and [name]Adela[/name], too!

[name]Olive[/name] ([name]Olivia[/name]): I love [name]Olive[/name]! I think it’s so spunky!

[name]Cleo[/name]/[name]Clio[/name]: I love it!

[name]Juliet[/name]/[name]Juliette[/name]: [name]Love[/name]!

[name]Amelia[/name]: I think it’s beautiful!

[name]Alijah[/name]: I like some of the others more…

[name]Amelie[/name]: I love it!

[name]Jada[/name]: I like some of the others more. You may also like [name]Jade[/name].

Vintage/Classic names:

[name]Clementine[/name] (nn [name]Cleo[/name])
[name]Genevieve[/name] (nn [name]Evie[/name])

Good luck!

My two personal favourites from your list are [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Amelie[/name], they’re gorgeous! I also really like [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Adele[/name], [name]Clio[/name]/[name]Cleo[/name] and [name]Amelia[/name]. [name]Alia[/name] would be nice spelt this way (the proper I’m pretty sure…) and I also think [name]Lucia[/name] would be adorable!
