My name is [name]Kristen[/name]. After 6 years of marriage to my husband [name]Blake[/name] and having been told we could never conceive a child, I am 6 months pregnant with a precious baby girl. This is a miracle and a dream come true for us and one we feel may never be duplicated again. I have long been a name “nerd” and have kept a list of my favorite names in diaries and journals ever since I was a little girl. I never dreamed I would be able to use them for real and now we are having so much trouble picking which one is perfect for our little blessing. A friend recommended this website to us and, after much deliberation, I finally decided to post our plea for help – and my incredibly long list of favorite names. As you can tell, I love flowery, romantic, princess-esque names. I apologize in advance for the length. We are open to thoughts, suggestions, anything you may have for us. Thank you so much.
I [name]LOVE[/name] your names! My favorites are [name]Allegra[/name], [name]Arabella[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Gianna[/name], [name]Helena[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name] & [name]Mirabella[/name], but I actually REALLy like them all! I would pair them with with a shorter middle name, less frilly (these names are frilly in the best possible way) but still distinctly feminine. Like [name]Gianna[/name] [name]Skye[/name], [name]Mirabella[/name] [name]Eve[/name], [name]Arabella[/name] [name]Kate[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Faye[/name], etc.
Congratulations! Wow [name]Kristen[/name], I am shocked by how similar my list is to yours! That means you have great taste I am loving…
[name]Arabella[/name]
[name]Astoria[/name] (would make a better middle name than a first in my opinion)
[name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Delphine[/name]
[name]Electra[/name] (I somewhat prefer it in the form of [name]Electa[/name])
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Georgiana[/name] (also prefer as a middle name)
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Ophelia[/name]
I don’t consider these names frilly, but instead elegant and feminine. I love their vintage vibe. [name]Do[/name] you have any ideas about middle names?
[name]Allegra[/name] would be a pretty name , especially with its meaning “joyous” so this may be special for you.
[name]Celeste[/name] “celestial”, [name]Evangeline[/name]“bringing of good news”, and [name]Serafina[/name] “fiery angel” would have nice meanings for you as well.
I never expected such a response, much less this quickly! You all are wonderful. I’m so glad I came here. Thank you all so much.
@blueberri - You are a sweetheart (with a cute username, too!) and I thank you so much for your comment. I definitely think you have a point with a shorter middle name Something like [name]Arabella[/name] [name]Kate[/name] is much better than [name]Arabella[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name], in my oh-so-humble opinion.
@jackiet - You, too, are such a sweetie! Thank you. I love your additional suggestion of [name]Electa[/name]. I’m honestly pretty unsure of middle names. Some of my favorites at the moment are [name]Hope[/name], [name]Faith[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]Dove[/name], [name]Mercy[/name], [name]Eden[/name] and [name]Ever[/name].
@jenevievem - Wow, you are all so kind! Thanks so much. I was actually unsure of [name]Allegra[/name]'s meaning. That is so fitting and only makes it an even bigger plus for us! Thank you!
@nani1984 - I love [name]Anastasia[/name], too It was my favorite name as a little girl!
Also, there are a couple of names I forgot about on my initial list My husband plays the violin, so I really love Vio- names. I love [name]Violet[/name] but I fear it’s too popular. Through this site I’ve also come across [name]Viola[/name], [name]Viole[/name], [name]Violeta[/name] and [name]Violeine[/name]. I really like the sound of all of them
Such beautiful names! I love [name]Giselle[/name], [name]Tatiana[/name], [name]Ophelia[/name]…a lot of really gorgeous choices.
One that came to mind that you might like is [name]Christiana[/name], also [name]Sariah[/name].
[name]Hi[/name] [name]Kristen[/name],
Congratulations to you and your husband on your miracle-to-be! The names on your list are beautiful. I can see why you are having a hard time deciding between them! Here are my favorites: [name]Delphine[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name], & [name]Seraphina[/name].
Here are my favorite first & middle combo’s:
[name]Serafina[/name] [name]Celeste[/name] or [name]Serafina[/name] [name]Colette[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] or [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Delphine[/name] [name]Arabella[/name] or [name]Delphine[/name] [name]Eloisa[/name]
Some are too over the top to use on an actual kid, in my opinion, and a few are very un-namelike:
[name]Arcadia[/name]: I think it’s way too much.
[name]Astoria[/name]: What about [name]Astrid[/name]/[name]Aster[/name]?
[name]Caledonia[/name]: all I can think of is the place; I’ve never come across it as a name.
[name]Electra[/name]: too close to ‘electric’, I would say…
[name]Ophelia[/name]: I love it, but I’m not sure how useable it is…
The rest of your list is awesome; the only ones I’m not personal fans of are [name]Imogen[/name], [name]Christabel[/name], [name]Antonia[/name], [name]Gianna[/name], and [name]Michaela[/name]. Great list!
Congratulations, [name]Kristen[/name] (and [name]Blake[/name]!)! I really love all the names on your list, too! I second [name]Jenevieve[/name], the meanings of some of these are perfect. [name]Mirabella[/name] would be great, too, since it means “wonderful” and shares a beginning with the word miracle. From your list, I’ll vote for [name]Allegra[/name] or [name]Mirabella[/name].
@klcalder2 - Thank you very much for your comment! Your daughter has an absolutely lovely name I love [name]Arabella[/name].
@TobysMommy - Thanks so much for commenting! I can’t say I’m a big fan of [name]Sariah[/name] personally, but [name]Christiana[/name] is very gorgeous Thank you again!
@Ashlyn99 - Thank you so much! I have been hoarding names for so long; now I just don’t know what to do with them all I love the combinations you provided us! They are all very beautiful, but [name]Serafina[/name] [name]Celeste[/name] is probably my favorite. So pretty!
@irisrose - Thank you so much for your comment! [name]Astrid[/name] is actually one of my favorite names but sadly one of the few [name]Blake[/name] has outright said ‘no’ to [name]Aster[/name], however, I never really considered. I’m loving it, to be honest! I love your suggestions, too, especially [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Sophronia[/name], [name]Mirabel[/name] and [name]Elodie[/name]
@cecily - Thanks so much for your comment! You know, I never realized between [name]Mirabella[/name] and miracle. [name]How[/name] amazing would that be I utterly love all of the combinations you came up with! They are all so gorgeous! [name]Victoire[/name] is another name that I love but [name]Blake[/name] doesn’t necessarily dislike, but simply fears it would be butchered here in the southern U.S.
Congrats! All our names are really great. I agree that [name]Allegra[/name] is a very pretty name with a meaning that is fitting. Yes, [name]Violet[/name] is getting a little pop but i like it just the same. What about [name]Violetta[/name] nn etta?
Congrats!! Awe, what a happy story!! I’m sure you’re beyond excited. [name]Do[/name] you think you’ll try for more after miracle baby #1 (wondering because sibsets are a big thing here and I’m sure there would be plenty of posters itching to help out).
I left my favorites from your list below:
[name]Anastasia[/name] -My favorite on your list!! Beautiful name!!
[name]Angeline[/name] - I prefer this ending in a inplace of the e but lovely either way.
[name]Astoria[/name] - I saw you <3 [name]Astrid[/name] but husband vetoed it, same here >.< bummer but this feels somewhat similar to me.
[name]Celeste[/name] - sounds so graceful
[name]Christabel[/name] - Awe, I love this name. I love that it is close to your name but unique at the same time.
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] - This is tied for second for me. <3 the NNs [name]Vivi[/name] or [name]Nev[/name]!
[name]Helena[/name] - Such an lovely name. (there was some pronounciation differences in another post on this name. I say [name]Helen[/name]-ah.)
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name] - I like this but only as a MN I think.
[name]Serafina[/name] - This is tied for second for me. [name]Sara[/name] has always been one of my favorites and this puts a nice twist on it.
[name]Tatiana[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this name. My oldest brother’s baby momma drama is with a [name]Tatiana[/name] though so I’m not allowed to say it, haha.
All beautiful names I can see why you can’t decide on THE name for your baby.
Here are a few combos to think about, maybe one will gel for you.
[name]Evangeline[/name] is such a pretty name and the nn of [name]Eve[/name] is too.
Combo
[name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Giselle[/name]
[name]Viviana[/name] [name]Christabel[/name] is a strong, outstanding name. I see a dark haired, tall, intelligent woman with an independent spirit and zest for life.
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Honor[/name] [name]Eleanora[/name], A feminine English maiden with flair and good taste and ethics and a desire to achieve.
[name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Araminta[/name] A flirty, pretty, feminine bundle of joy.
[name]Arabella[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] - [name]Arabella[/name] is the quintessential ‘look at me name’. It belongs to a girl/woman with confidence and charm, [name]Caroline[/name] makes the combo a little less out there and its timeless charm enhances the combo.
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Michaela[/name] - Such a pretty name full of femininity and style. [name]Michaela[/name] has had a hard time over the last 20 years with all the dreadful ‘yooneek’ style spellings that parents have dreamed up but with the classic spelling and as a middle name it works beautifully with [name]Genevieve[/name] imo.
Congratulations!
From your list I like;
[name]Allegra[/name]
[name]Anastasia[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Elenora[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Helena[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
and of course [name]Michaela[/name] but i’m biased!LOL
Some suggestions;
[name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name] nn [name]Kitty[/name]/[name]Kate[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Josie[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] nn [name]Susie[/name]/[name]Anna[/name]
[name]Sarah[/name] nn [name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name] nn [name]Addie[/name]
[name]Cecelia[/name] nn CeCe
Let us know what you decide or if you narrow down your list!
[name]Allegra[/name] is an allergy medicine in my country ([name]Canada[/name]). I am not posting this to be nasty, I am just aware of the multi-national tendencies of pharmaceutical companies and worry that [name]Allegra[/name] (the allergy medicine) might come to your country, too. It is very entrenched here; I would never have considered [name]Allegra[/name] for a girl because of it! Congratulations on your pregnancy, and again, this was not posted in a mean or nasty way, just a wee word of warning!
