We have a complicated Polish last name, Winiarczyk, which is pronounced [name_u]Win[/name_u]-ar-zic
We are having our third, a little boy, and trying to come up with a good name. Our daughters names are [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. We like sweet, not too harsh sounding names, and although we have some that we like, I am just not sold on one yet and need more suggestions! Our list so far is:
[name_u]Owen[/name_u]
[name_m]Brody[/name_m]
[name_m]Anderson[/name_m] (nickname [name_m]Anders[/name_m], but maybe it’s too long with our last name?)
[name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] (again, maybe too long)
[name_m]Adler[/name_m]
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u]
The name [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] reminds me of Pride and Prejudice and that is a masculine connotation for me. I don’t really think of it as a girls name.
I would avoid any names ending in n or r or c/k because of how heavy the surname is and I imagine it warrants explanation and pronunciation all the time so for example [name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_u]Win[/name_u]— or [name_m]Adler[/name_m] [name_u]Win[/name_u]-ar … In my opinion… Which by no means is perfect in any way… But something to consider to avoid overly similar sounds especially when saying [name_u]Owen[/name_u] … Wait how do you say this … Ok [name_u]Owen[/name_u] Wwin… I just personally would stick to something dissimilar…
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u] & [name_m]Brody[/name_m] fit that but [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] has a strong Ar sound like your surname and it may not be preferable. [name_m]Brody[/name_m] has an r but it’s totally different… It feels most comfortable to me when out with the child’s surname and
[name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Aria[/name_f] & [name_m]Brody[/name_m] I think I are very cute together. [name_m]Brody[/name_m] is nice because it’s got a preppy nn but stands alone rarely needing it. It is soft and sweet and cute but masculine because It has its own heft and of course there’s the names reference and it’s also a surname. It’s nice that each child’s name would begin and end differently and have a different amount of syllables. I think it [name_m]Brody[/name_m] works best for you. It’s a very agreeable pairing. Though other names like [name_m]Becket[/name_m] and [name_m]David[/name_m] work very well also.
Thanks! Those are good things to think about. We briefly did consider [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], but I wasn’t sure if it would end up sounding too harsh with the t at the end and the k at the end of our name.
Lol, I actually had a dream that I was at this kids future soccer match and I yelled out “Go, [name_u]Darcy[/name_u]” and he turned around. He was charismatic looking and had dark black hair and blue eyes (which is probable with my husband and I’s features…we know definite blue eyes, and both of my girls have my husbands dark hair instead of my blonde). Anyways, maybe my dream was saying he’s badass enough to own the name
I agree [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] with the k and t sounds might be a bit much actually the ck really is too much I revoke my suggestion lol. I have only know one [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] and she was a girl… Which honestly I thought was quite odd. I love [name_u]Austen[/name_u] and I know [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] is used for girls but as a surname it has free radicals be wherever it like s… I like [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] for you as long as that -ar- doesn’t bother you which it doesn’t have to at all. I still vote [name_m]Brody[/name_m] but on a very handsom and fun little guy [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] for sure could work if you prefer it to [name_m]Brody[/name_m] or aren’t sure I wouldn’t rule it out!
Can you stick [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] as a middle? [name_u]Love[/name_u] that guy name, it’s completely Pride and Prejudice (I always imagine it with the accent!)
Oh, I love [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]!! Somehow in all of my searching I hadn’t come across that one. It’s definitely being added to the list, thank you!
As far as [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] goes, would [name_m]Charles[/name_m] need to be the “real” name? Would it be crazy to use [name_u]Chandler[/name_u] as the “real” name and call him [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] as a nickname?
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] - Too many W sounds for me when paired with your last name
[name_m]Brody[/name_m] - ** love!
[name_m]Anderson[/name_m] - too long with your last name
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] - I think [name_u]Finn[/name_u] sounds too week with your last name
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] - Maybe too long… but I love [name_u]Sully[/name_u] [name_u]Win[/name_u]-ar-zic
[name_m]Adler[/name_m] - **** [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]!
[name_u]Darcy[/name_u] - is this a boy name? Sounds v feminine to me.
What about these? [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f] and…
[name_u]Blake[/name_u]
[name_u]Casey[/name_u]
[name_u]Bryce[/name_u] ** [name_u]Love[/name_u] this combined with your last name
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m] (nn. [name_m]Nate[/name_m] [name_u]Win[/name_u]-ar-zic)
[name_u]Reid[/name_u]
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] (a little more masculine in my mind than [name_u]Finn[/name_u])
[name_m]Nolan[/name_m]
[name_m]Heath[/name_m]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Aria[/name_f] & [name_u]Owen[/name_u] (So soft and so cute together! It’s perfect! It’d totally be my first choice!)
[name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Aria[/name_f] & [name_u]Finn[/name_u] (My second favorite!)
